“Up for sale is my Korg Poly 800 synthesizer with “Moogslayer and FM800″ Mods. I have had it for several years and don’t use it so much to shake the walls anymore so hoping it will find a home that it will get some use in. “This synth was tested and working perfectly, but then was shipped and now there is a buzzing tone playing over all the patches. The buzz changes in timbre when you change patch, and settings but is present regardless of patch. It might be a problem with one of the voices, but I can not say for sure, and am about to move across the country, so I do not have time to fix. This is an original DX7 from Japan and uses 100V but works fine on standard USA voltage of 120V.
Like most (if not all) DX7’s the aftertouch requires a lot of pressure to activate. So, it’s practically non-functional.

“CONDITION: Perfect operation condition. DETAILS: In June 2018 I installed a new floppy drive, as the belt on the previous floppy had given out, which I understand is a common problem with VL1-Ms. (The new drive is “new old stock; they don’t make them any more.) I understand floppy functionality is pretty much a non-issue unless you’re seriously into voice programming, really, in any case, because once you have all the best voices installed, you don’t need to use the floppy anyway, or you can load and unload via MIDI, but I figured a buyer would want a working drive. I’ve tested the VL1-M since installing the new drive and it works perfectly, and the replacement drive is identical visually to the original as it sits within the front panel. Also — some years ago I managed to break the headphone volume knob. I glued the knob back together (this was all easily done without disassembly; all was outside the enclosure) and it’s worked perfectly ever since; there’s no visual or tactile cue it ever happened. ” Travel back in time with this vintage synthesizer. I don’t know much about it. The keyboard unit is 37 keys. It is a kit unit. I cannot even figure out where the power switch is, let alone the amplifier output jack. I got it from an electronics engineer who never once used it, who got it from another electronics engineer who apparently assembled it in the 1970s.
Paia Electronics made kit synthesizers in the 1970s. I believe this is a completely homemade copy of a 1970s Paia synthesizer. The builder bought their own components and built and soldered their own circuit boards. I think it might be a Paia 2720 copy.
Unlike the Paia components in the various spec sheets and catalogs included, none of these components have the Paia stamp or Pais graphics, as shown in the literature. Among the literature included are: a 1974 Paia catalog; a 1975 Paia booklet without record; a 1975 Paia schematics symbology booklet; 17 old Paia component booklets with specs (a couple are doubles); a 1972 “Using the Paia 2720 Synthesizer” booklet; and some other spec sheets, including some on clear mylar.

“I purchased this new in the early 90s. Time to let it go. I recently spent about 10+ hours of time with this unit transfering old song parts to the computer, consequently I know it’s working just fine. It’s in excellent condition. There is a security plate attached to the bottom of the unit that I used to secure the keyboard at a live gig. I’ve also etched out (removed) my name and ID number that I engraved on the bottom of the unit. Original AC Adapter included along with the original manuals.
