Working KORG POLY-61 Vintage 1980’s Synthesizer Keyboard

I have had this a long long time, and over the years it has seen more action than Axel Rose.

Over the years I have had hard Red Oak sides put on, as the chipboard that was originally there was just falling to bits as they all do.

I have not used it for over a year, but it is fully functioning. Just needs some switch cleaner in the volume knob as it is a little scratchy when turned. With time and use this should dissipate.

Also, where the modulation/Pitch bend joystick is, the panel does move a bit. It has done this since the sides were replaced but it does not affect playing or using of the joystick. It could use some shorter screws in it I think. Just never bothered with it as it did not detract from its use. Just thought I would mention it as someone may want to fix that.

Weak solder joints reflowed, all switches, sliders, pots etc cleaned

Modified to accept two Internal 3V coin batteries, rather than the C batteries on the back… wired in parallel, so voltage stays 3V but maximum Ah is increased — this is a significant upgrade because when replacing the batteries, you can change one at a time, so that you NEVER lose your patches when changing batteries unlike how it works with a stock Poly-800 with the C cells (which are connected in series, so when one battery is removed the ENTIRE patch bank is lost)

Comes with hybrid case, mono cable (for dumping patches to tape/flashing synth with patches), power cable, 2 midi cables, ORIGINAL PATCH BANK TAPE (note: the patch bank tape doesn’t seem to carry a strong enough signal to flash the synth with patches. This 49-key synth is a great addition for musicians and producers who want to create unique sounds.
The instrument is sold with a Calzone Flight Case that ensures safe transportation. The case is covered in stickers. The case handle, latches, and hinges all work fine.
It comes with a non-original, but proper, power cord.
When plugged in and turns on, nothing happens. Nothing at all. I have done nothing to it. I did open it up. It appears to be unmolested and all there.

Owned from new (about 1984), only occasional use since mid-90s. Worked correctly for many years, except for joystick which had a broken mounting, but still worked if lifted back up. Case has never been opened, mounting pieces are still inside. Just retrieved from storage after several years, and sadly age-related issues evident . The internal battery for program storage is worn out, the edit function for programs and parameters does not work, the LED display and sound production are both intermittent.
