“Up for purchase is this Korg DW-8000 Programmable Digital Waveform Synthesizer that is in excellent working condition. This synth was just cleaned inside and out and serviced. The keybed was removed and cleaned including the keys; keys still make that clacky sound which is common on a vintage DW. A new RAM battery was installed and the factory patches were reloaded. A new volume slider was installed. The finish shows some wear and a few scuffs but it really looks good overall. Fully tested and works/sounds great. Comes with power cord.”

“Vibey, underrated drum machine with killer snare & well balanced kick.

Please note this has particular model has a couple of issues. Firstly the function 1 button (F1) doesn’t work. The contact underneath needs replacing – should be a straight forward fix.

Secondly when playing the drum buttons on the machine the kick sounds loud in comparison to the rest of the drum hits. This doesn’t happen if you are triggering it via your DAW…everything is balanced & as it should be.

I used to play this via my DAW / midi keyboard & it sounds great. All the decay, output level & tuning options work fine. ” Link

“I do not want to sell this.

If you’re looking at this, I don’t need to intimate how great this synth is – the modulation capabilities are unique (particularly with the LFO trick, which this unit performs easily – I will show you how, if you pick her up).

I apologise that the photos look like it’s been taken in a 1970s opium den – I should have taken it to the kitchen for extra clinical, halogen-lit photos.

This works flawlessly. She retains the Japanese 110V supply, but I will provide a high quality transformer for UK voltage.

My house move forces this sale.

I have swapped knobs with the Korg mixer from the same series. It illustrates the architecture of the synth very well… If you want the original knobs back, I’ll swap it back to standard (but I’m not the first to perform this swap)” Link

“This Korg Micro Preset M500 comes complete with its original manual and nine patch sheets that fit over the the controls to create specific sounds. There are a few blank ones that you can use to create your own.

It is being sold AS IS. I am not a specialist, but had it checked over by one and this is what he reported:

-All functions appear to be working EXCEPT “Synth 1” and “Synth 2.”

-In good overall cosmetic condition, except one chip on a corner clearly marked in the pictures, a few light surface scratches.

-Missing the knobs on the “Modulation Depth” and the “Momentary / Portamento” switch (but they work fine without them). ”

“A very special analog monophonic synth from 1979. There were only a 1000 of these units made ever. It is said to be Aphex Twin’s favorite synth. It is rare to find one in such a great condition as the one I’m selling.”

Korg, VC-10, Vocoder @ 17 March 2018, “No Comments”

“In very good condition for its age. Has some minor scratches and cosmetic wear but everything on the unit works. All keys, knobs and switches are responding. This unit has been serviced. It also comes with the original mic.

The voltage for this item is 100V. If you use this item in countries where the voltage is more than 100V such as 200 – 240V, the item will be broken unless you use a proper transformer.” Link

“Another hidden treasure from uncle Freddie’s stash… It powers up and plays, not sure if all controls work- I’m not into synths/keyboards, but I did get some fun sounds through the headphone output! It needs a thorough cleaning and restoration/repair or is perfect for spare parts for your Delta. The joystick is broken off but is still functional, three slider knobs are missing, and the sliders and pots and could stand to be lubricated, tightened and/or replaced” Link

“Later version with trigger button. No corrosion. Keyboard connections re-soldered. Modulation wheel works. The switched jacks all work. Pots are mostly quiet.
This synth was sidelined for many years due to a couple of non-operating keys and I didn’t have any CV equipment.
This month, I opened the unit and carefully repaired the cracked solder joints where the key contacts meet the switch board. I reheated all of the joints to make sure they don’t fail.
The interior is very clean and I carefully cleaned the outside of the unit including the knobs.
The plastic left side plate of the case was cracked at the front, so I reinforced it with glue. See image. This does not affect the rigidity of the case.
At first, the pots were noisy but they quieted after using the synth for a few hours making sure all the functions worked and remembering how much fun it was.
The Pulse Width modulation operates well as do the LFO panel outputs and the switching jacks do what they are supposed to. I’ll throw in 4 home made patch cords, so you can play with the modulation immediately.
The Oscillator and Filter both work correctly, although I did not check to make sure the Oscillator is tuned accurately. The tuning controls are accessible through the front panel. – on that note, two of the small rubber plugs to these adjustments are missing.” Link

“The korg itself is in pretty great shape. All the keys function & are in tune. Each of the patches work just fine & so does the modulation wheel. There is no scratches or scuffs on the body or keys. There is dust on parts of the korg but I’m sure you could remove it with ease. The D key has a small chip on the bottom of the key (as seen on the photo) but still functions as it would without the chip. Everything functions & works as it would in 1978! It also comes with it’s original power cable.” Link

“Welcome to Musicdungeon, you are bidding on a great piece. This is the 1980’s Korg Japan DSM-1 Digital Sampling Synthesizer.
The DSM-1 is very similar to the DSS synth, and both are still very relevant today.
This DSM-1 features 16 voice polyphony, 4 timbres, dual oscillators, 12 bit/64 seconds sampling, and Attack/Sustain/Decay/Release envelope.
This came to us, and was tested with the Bass Roto disk.
The disk loads with an error, but does load which allowed us to test this DSM-1- it works as it should.
Very good overall condition- typical marks you expect on a rackmount unit of this age.
Includes the power cable.
This is your chance to get your hands on a great rackmount synth from Korg Japan, for the price you want.” Link

Korg, Maxi-Korg @ 03 March 2018, Comments Off on Korg Maxi-Korg

“This is a unique vintage Korg Maxi-Korg synthesizer. This synth is also known as the Korg 800DV. This Univox K3 was sold in the US under the name Maxi-Korg K3. The power of the Maxi-Korg lay in the way it could create and play sounds. In essence, it was two Korg 700S synths in a single box, so you could treat it as two distinct synths, creating two different sounds, and then playing them independently. Some other mid-’70s synths allowed you to play two notes, but these used the same patch parameters for both. Only the Maxi-Korg could produce two sounds that you could play as a composite, or as two independent synths. Yet this was only half the story, because the 800DV allowed you to allocate the voices in a huge variety of ways. This made it possible to program more realistic, more expressive, or more off-the-wall sounds than was possible on other monosynths. The Maxi-Korg was, and remains, one of the most impressive, flexible and articulate synths ever built.

As the original owner, I know this Korg synthesizer to be in excellent condition with no known problems.”

Korg, Polysix @ 24 February 2018, Comments Off on Korg Polysix Project Machine

“When I bought this synth in 1999, it was already 18 years old. At the time, it was in perfect condition, save for a couple dings in the wood. I used this in several studio albums and it also made more than a few trips to the stage. For about 8 years this was my go-to vintage synth.

As the years passed, I didn’t really play anymore. In fact, it has been in storage, untouched, from 2009-2018. I kind of forgot I had it.

However, when I turn it on today, it doesn’t act the same. What used to be one of my favorite synths is now virtually unrecognizable. There are so many things wrong with it now, it makes me want to cry. I have no idea how to fix it, so that’s why I’m selling it. It makes me sad because I loved this thing back in the day and it’s really cool looking in a studio.

Alas, I will give you a rundown of the things I found wrong today with the Korg Polysix in this listing.

1.) 3-4 of the keys dont trigger sound, this was not true before it was stored, it might be dirty contacts.

2.) The volume knob is somewhat scratchy when turned

3.) The ASDR knobs don’t work correctly. As a result, most of the sounds this synth makes have quick attack, hold as long you press the key and then immediately release when finished. Similar to the dynamics of a brass instrument. However if you turn the ASDR knobs weird things can happen, but not what you’d expect.

4.) Many knobs work sometimes and don’t work other times. Or they don’t seem to be changing the same thing they changed before.

5.) It takes between 5 and 30 minutes for it to get to a state where it can make sound. This is kind of normal (battery issue?) and one of the reasons I stopped using it. “Warm up time.”

6.) It is completely out of tune. While the keys do ascend and descend, none of the notes are a proper interval. An octave is not 12 steps, but more like 11.3 steps. C1 to B2 is almost an octave on this synth. I’ve never seen anything like it.

7.) Some of the buttons are missing. The contacts still work. See pictures for details on the cosmetics.

8.) Sometimes it will start randomly making glitchy and creepy noises on its own. This synth literally seems to have a mind of its own ocassionally.

These are the most obvious bad things I could find. There are probably other issues I don’t know how to test for. Let there be no misconception, this synth is very far from perfect condition and some people might consider it usable for parts only. The only reason I don’t list it as parts only is because it powers up and makes sound and some musicians might be able to use it as-is.

1.) It is the ultimate “weird noise generator.” Because of all the aforementioned problems, it is nearly impossible to get this synth to make anything remotely close to a normal sound. Almost every knob turn results in something unpredictable; however,

2.) The cutoff and resonance filters still work perfectly, every time, and they still sound great.

3.) The arpeggiator, pitch bend wheel, chorus effect and octave knob still works.

4.) It has never had a problem turning on. The power and lights have always worked. It has powered up without issue every single time.

5.) It’s 37 years old and still powers up. That’s gotta count for something right? :)”
