Moog Polymoog

“A rare and vintage PolyMoog Synthesiser 203 from around 1978.

Already working, so you don’t have to spend 3K and wait 6 months to use it!

Complete with four legs yet no rear stabilising struts.

It is extremely clean, there’s no dust or grime anywhere.

All keys work, there are no thumps, bumps or crackles.

All presets work as they should and all sliders and controls are fine. VCF, Contour, and Resonators all excellent.

It plays well and the velocity sensitive weighted keys are all OK.

Due to careful use, regular cleaning and routine servicing, it actually transports very well and I’ve never had any problems with moving it around.

To make it a more resilient instrument, it had been stripped, checked and rebuilt to be reliable, all Polycom motherboard sockets checked for the usual dry-joints, Polycom cards and sockets cleaned, keys and contacts cleaned, and the power supply checked, aligned and tested.

All this along with regular servicing and cleaning.

The bad bits: The case has some scratches and marks from 45 years of life. No more bad bits.

Don’t be afraid to ask absolutely anything about it, or to make an offer. Of course, you can have as much time as you need to test it before paying.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“So here we are then; one of my prized possessions going up for sale. Health matters force sale.

I knew Anthony Marchese’ cousin and when this Polymoog prototype was passed on to me. This Polymoog badged ‘PolyPreset’ was created when Norlin wanted a preset Polymoog built (280a)

Anthony was in charge of the logic at Moog at the time and was his job to program the presets. This was the first incarnation of what was to become the Polymoog 280a.

It is filled with breadboard-style wiring and was handcrafted by both Anthony & Dave Luce in the Moog factory in Buffalo NY not far from Anthony’s home.

A real piece of Moog history. Anthony was very proud of this machine so much that he dedicated it to his late wife with a silver nameplate which can be found on the back.

You also get with the machine Anthony’s pair of PolyPedals in their original Moog box! The pedals were used to test the various presets built on this prototype.

As I really cannot price this piece I’ve started the bidding with no reserve and also for the fact that the machine does not power up at present. I’m told by a tech it’s more than likely the old caps in the PSU causing this. It worked for about 4 of the 5 years it was in my possession. The keys are almost like new and they play well without any clunking which is rare in itself! ” Click here to visit listing on eBay

” For a 45 year old synth, I would have to say it is in near museum condition on the exterior. There are very few scratches and dings, obviously well taken care of by previous owner(s). Does NOT show the regular signs of gigging (beat to crap). All keys are straight and flat and none are sticking. All knobs are intact and all sliders seem to work correctly with appropriate resistance to movement. Comes with the (optional) rare 285A Polypedal which is also in extremely nice condition. That being said, I have NOT plugged this unit in nor tested it, so I am in no way guaranteeing or warranting the correct operation beyond the exterior condition (which is very nice). It’s possible that you will plug this unit in and it will work fine, but it is also more than likely going to need some internal contact cleaning, tuning and even a possible overhaul. Unfortunately, I do not have the legs or power cord, so they are not included. I have not opened the unit’s cover.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“MOOG PolyMoog Keyboard 280a Synthesizer. In excellent cosmetic condition with no cracks or damage to the cover or chasis. Small blemish on top of cabinet that looks like it can be scrubbed out easy enough. All keys, buttons, knobs, sliders, pitch ribbon controls, and jacks have all at one point functioned just as they should’ve and still appear to all be mechanically sound. “For as old as it is– VERY CLEAN, VERY FEW blemishes.

under the cover is super clean.

(I did not see corroded components, loads of dust or any etc.)

all the keys are seemingly very level.

but no noise. — I am not very good with synth circuity, so I don’t want to touch it.

Can not get power to main “display”. Very likely that this issue could solve the functionality of the unit.
Was told this by a polymoog technician, who knows everything about them” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“Condition:Repairs have been done, and almost everything works. Each note has its own synthesiser circuit (Polycom Card). The two top keys will need a Polycom IC if you must have them sounding. Notes are Db and D. As it is a 71 note keyboard I didn’t bother replacing them. NOS of these ICs come up on eBay sometimes. It has been stripped, checked and rebuilt to be reliable, Polycom cards and sockets cleaned, keys and contacts cleaned, and all circuits re-calibrated. External condition is evident from photos. There is some wear on the chassis under the keys, and minor scratching on a few of the keys.”

“Great looking overall condition with typical signs of wear for the age. Inside looks great. Light wear/surface marks/sticker peeling/some key marks and discoloration/one slider knob missing/pitch strip has a little tear. When plugged in it lights up and produces sound but the sound is noisy. When moving switches around noise can be modified but with background noise still present. Preset buttons appear to change settings correctly, but its difficult to hear what the changes are with the noise. Will need to be gone over.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“A Moog Polymoog 203a analogue synthesiser, 1977.

In perfect working order, this synth has been professionally stripped, cleaned, serviced and rebuilt.

Power supply calibrated and tested, all PCBs cleaned, hundreds of solder joints reworked, many ICs socketed and replaced. It’s now very reliable and hardened to original polymoog transport issues. It’s clean and free of dust or dirt inside and out. All screws are present and original… absolutely no short-cuts.

There are the usual marks due to use.

All keys, LEDs controls and presets work as they should.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
