“This keyboard is in great condition especially cosmetically, it almost looks new. All sounds and functions work on it including the “touch sensor effects” however the keys and the sliders are very stiff and one slider is missing a cap. The stiffness is bad enough that it will need to be addressed so the price reflects this. Also when adjusting the volume sometimes the sound will go out but will come back once the slider is adjusted to the “right” spots. I had posted this earlier stating that it didn’t work in other ways but it turns out it works great I just had my headphones plugged into the wrong output. “This is an early model Oberheim OB-8 analog synthesizer and does not have factory MIDI. The unit is in excellent functional shape. It has a small dent in the rear of the unit shown in the photos. I’ve never had any issues with the presence of this dent. I purchased the unit with this issue and the previous seller did not have issues either. I have replaced the entire keybed with new contacts and thoroughly cleaned the unit. The volume knob sometimes has a slightly scratchiness only while turning when not in use for a while which is normal for its age. All buttons and knobs work as far as I can tell. It has all the original patches as far as I know. There is nothing like the sound of an OB-8! I have purchased many newer analog synthesizers and just don’t have room for this monster. It has a lovely warm 80’s sound! I “Do Not Ship Internationally” and only ship to the lower 48 states, Please No Inquiries. The unit is being shipped “As Is” because of its age. ” Vintage Moog Minimoog Model D – One Original Owner now selling. I bought the Minimoog in about 1977 or 1978 New from Naperville music in the western suburbs of Chicago. The Serial # looks like it is Serial # 10460. However, the serial number stamp is very light and it may be 10468? This instrument has been stored for about 40 years in a custom travel case. I have loved this instrument, but it was rarely played the first few years I owned it and then locked away ever since. I have tested the operation and all keys, oscillators, pots, filters, switches and wheels are working properly.
There is a cosmetic issue with the right side and the rear of the walnut case. The foam in the travel case degraded over 40 years and bonded with the lacquer finish on the cabinet. I removed as much of the foam as possible manually. Then I tried a bit of soap and water to remove the remaining foam from the finish. When this did not work, I tried some lemon oil and that softened the foam embedded into the lacquer. I then attempted to use a plastic card to remove some of the softened foam off of the wood finish but it appeared that the laquer was also coming off. Rather than continue attempts to remove the foam and damage the finish I have left it as is. This case may be cleaned up, refinished, or restored or there are new replacement cases available. I have left the case restoration decisions up to the new owner or the new owner may just decide to play this instrument as it was designed to be. Everything about this synthesizer is original and functional. It does not deserve to be stored away in a box anymore.
It is well past the time for this amazing instrument to be owned by someone who can truly appreciate it and create music with it as it’s inventor would have wanted. The travel case will be included with the Minimoog but the foam in the case on the right and the rear needs to be replaced. I have included photos of all of the above. “For sale is a vintage realistic moog mg-1 synthesizer. The synth has been modded by a previous owner, they took out the RCA outputs, the 1/4” Out on the front works fine. The osc (tone source) modulation slider doesn’t work. The synth works and triggers on everything else except the 3 A Keys don’t sound. Some do in osc 1 or 2 but in poly mode the low and middle A are kinda fuzzy and the high A doesn’t sound. Sold as is parts repair.
