Sequential Circuits Prelude

” Sequential Circuits Prelude up for sale. It’s in good shape cosmetically except for a few missing switch/slider covers. Everything on it works, but some pots and switches are sputtery, and the LFO section pots are a little unpredictable. The instrument does produce a clean sound that corresponds to the switch/slider settings after you’ve wiggled the switches/sliders. The keyboard feels like a typical vintage keyboard that has not had any work done. All the keys work. Some cleaning and servicing would help this instrument.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“Works great, just have to make sure to use the high output jack or else you can’t really hear it. While some synths have low and high outputs they usually aren’t very different from one another. This one really has a low output if you use the low output jack, they weren’t kidding around when they labeled it. I have no idea what the input jack is for, I’ve never used it and I don’t use pedals with my synths so I’ve never tested the footswitch jack or the volume pedal (this has a strange jack for the volume pedal. Looks similar to the output jacks you find on Soviet made guitars and basses). It’s got some wear on it that’s visible in the photos, but that’s to be expected with a 30+ year old instrument. Some of the switches are slightly bent as you can see in the pictures, a couple of the switch tips are missing, and it sounds like some of them could use some compressed air, but they all function perfectly well.

It’s output only goes to one channel, it sends a mono signal (it’s a polyphonic synthesizer though) so you can’t use headphones with this one. You’re going to have to play it through an amp.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“Somewhat rare vintage synth. Shoot me an offer! All parameters function on this. The lowest c doesn’t play and the lowest g plays but is quieter than the other keys. There is a slight gap between the edge and the body as seen in 9th pic. Pots can be scratchy and the sound can be scratchy at times, but I think it’s only when the flanger is fully applied. Would love to sell to someone who can open it up and work on the internal stuff. All in all good condition but needs light general maintenance.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“I have a really clean, fully serviced Sequential Prelude in excellent condition. I have been collecting a lot of string synths lately, and the Prelude is one of the most versatile. It has a particularly good resonant filter, and can go from vintage string bliss to biting, funky clavs and synth/brass stabs, to jazzy organs with the flick of a switch and a push of the filter. AND you can layer everything for a huge sound that is like nothing else. The EQ and Modulation as well as the resonant filter give you a lot of variety and control. And the full polyphony allows for some huge sustained soundscapes. I am learning that string synths are the best source of that elusive vintage sound without spending thousands of dollars. ” Click here to visit listing on eBay

The Prelude reminds me a lot of the Korg Delta but with additional instruments and a sophisticated EQ and modulation section.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

ok “any scratchy faders and switches seem to clear up with contact spray. most switch and fader knobs are slightly bent left or right. normal scratches from normal wear and tear – please see pictures This thing sounds cool – the resonance, chorus, and flange let you get otherworldly sounds out of it.
I tried all the switches, faders, and buttons, and they all seem to work to my ear. When I encountered a scratchy sounding fader, contact cleaner was able to clean up the sound. I am not a tech, so it is sold “as is”.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

Sequential Circuits Prelude

used prelude “Vintage, fully polyphonic, analog, Italian string machine! An excellent 4-part orchestral synthesizer with that great late 70s/early 80s vibe: think John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ soundtrack, especially. This is the same machine as an Arp Quartet or Siel Orchestra, with the SCI branding and graphical style.

This machine is in fully playable and functional condition. All keys work, all voices and modulation sections are fully operational, and the oscillators hold their tuning really well. Cosmetically the housing has faded a little with age, and some slider caps are missing, but otherwise this unit is in good condition for its age.

It’s been in a non-smoking studio for the last several year, and not used for gigging.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

Fully working Sequential Circuits Prelude in the original box!

This is a full polyphonic analog synthesizer as you would expect,

but like others of its day its built off instrument presets which become your starting points.

You can add the presets in various ways, but it gets more synthy with the modulation.

As a gigging synth its pretty damn useful. As a substitute for an Arp string ensemble its great.

Even has little popup feet in the back – why dont all keyboards have this?

Works great, in decent cosmetic shape too. Made in Italy” Click here to visit listing on eBay

prelude“I am selling a Vintage

Vintage Sequential Circuits by Siel Prelude Analog Synth

The synth has been tested and the instruments seem to all work great.
With some of the sounds its hard to tell what kind of change is made when switching the modulation settings.
The highest C key on the keyboard does not work.
Some of the switches are missing the knobs or gray caps.
The rubber on the legs has melted to the body somewhat and will need to be replaced.
Listed for parts because it is not fully functioning.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

So this is a full polyphonic analog synth as you would expect, but like others of its day its built off instrument presets which become your starting points. prelude “Up for bid is my Sequential Circuits Prelude. The synth was purchased on eBay around 10 yrs ago and was recently serviced by Nick Montoya (who now works for The Moog Custom shop). The tech upgraded the plastic side panels to wooden Prophet 5 style and serviced a noisy pot (service record included). She sounds great and the modulation section is quite extensive. Padded gig bag included!” Click here to visit listing on eBay

Sequential Circuits Prelude

“This is a vintage Sequential Circuits Prelude.

100% Analog Synthesizer known for it’s sweet string and brass sounds.

It needs some work. This is what I know:

– It powers up
– piano/clav section works
– equalizer section works
– organ section needs to have rocker swtiches reinstalled (all parts I have are included)
– brass section works but has very low output
– LFO seems to work
– chorus seems to work
– the E and G keys all produce a noisy tone instead of an E or G
– pitch bend work
– master tune works
– master output works

This is a great synth if someone wants to fix it up. If not, it has parts in it that are no longer made and are getting very hard to find that you might need for another project.” Click here to visit listing on eBay
