“This auction is for my personal original vintage Arp Odyssey MkIII. It’s been fully serviced with a complete rebuild and restoration of all sliders, switches and the mechanical J-wire keyboard back to “like-new” condition.

There are only two cosmetic issues with it: 1) missing the left side wood panel, and 2) a light scratch along the left front panel above the “portamento” sider. Otherwise it is near mint.

“This is a beautiful early 70’s Tonus branded ARP Odyssey Mark 1, the most desirable of the Odysseys! It is in excellent, Mint minus shape for its age- you won’t find a nicer example of these fantastic analog synths. It has been used lightly in a smoke-free private recording studio. There are very minor signs of use, to be expected from its age. All functions work fine. Occasionally I noticed a little noise when moving the sliders. A tech advised me that this was a simple fix of spraying the sliders internally but I decided not to do it as it wasn’t a problem for me. Two of the colored slider covers are cracked. These little plastic covers can be found on Ebay and in no way affect the functions of the sliders.These Odysseys are fantastic sounding synths- huge, warm, analog sound and it’s no wonder they were embraced by many rock artists like Joe Walsh, ELO, Steve Miller, etc. as well as Jazz artists like Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. This synth is in fine working condition and in beautiful looking shape. Because of its vintage, I am selling this “As Is”. Item will be packed carefully and double boxed. ” This was a strange storage unit auction find in the midwest. I don’t know the story with the clear body, but I’ve never seen another one like it.

The roadcase it comes in is worn on the outside, but the foam inside is still good.

Here’s what’s been done to it:

~ All sliders were removed, cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled
~ All remaining controls were cleaned
~ The keyboard was completely disassembled, cleaned, rebushed, and all contacts were cleaned and adjusted
~ All tantalum power decoupling caps were replaced with electrolytic capacitors
~ The power supply board was re-capped and calibrated
~ The 4075 filter module was removed, recapped, and modified for increased cutoff frequency response
~ The original multicolored (now badly discolored) set of slider caps were replaced with a new, all white set. I’ll include the original slider caps for anyone interested.

I used this in my home studio back in the day before it went into temp-controlled storage. NEVER USED ON THE ROAD/GIGGING. Smoke-Free environment always. Hence the museum quality condition. Please look at the pictures-Even the slider caps are all original!
