The unit has recently been cleaned and serviced by EMI Repair, Surrey and sounds great. Unit is in super condition for its age, with only minor surface blemishing. “A recently serviced ARP Avatar with the additional New England Patch Panel and sub-oscillator.
The rather useless “VCA-GAIN” fader has been re-routed and now controls the volume of a sub-oscillator based on the circuits of the Roland SH-101 sub-oscillator.
All is very good working, all faders has been desoldered, opened and cleaned. Broken parts replaced. So all faders function like new. The PSU has been refurbished with new parts. Some scratches and marks on the sides, but nothing major. The front panel is very clean and in good condition (see images).
I have been using it with a Kenton Pro-Solo and it works very well.
No guitar pick-up or chord. Just the synth.”

“Vintage PAiA Gnome (3740) Analog Ribbon Synthesizer. Made from kit. Dates to the 70’s (specifically 1975/1976), judging from the info I have found online. Item was working, but stopped making any sound. Needs a power supply (was originally being run off of two 9 volt batteries, but this connection has come loose). Has a 3.5mm mini jack for audio output.

Additional Info: The increment dial is missing its knob (not included) but it is still movable. The number 1 spot under OSC display covering is missing and just the button is exposed and it does still function (see pics). There are 5 keys broken off at the black key mark that still work (see pics). There is some light sticker residue near the digital display. The top plate is missing its screws so the plate does lift up and open (see pics screws not included).

“This synth was recently serviced and fully calibrated. The regulators and filter caps were replaced, and all internal trimmers were calibrated per the service manual. The keyboard was also removed and each key was individually cleaned as was the key contact assembly. The original vintage manual is also included, and signed by the author recently. There are some cosmetic imperfections as shown in the pictures, but this synth is in otherwise very good condition and all functions work as they should.
