This synth was serviced when I bought it 3 years ago and it’s been used in a smoke free studio environment the time I’ve had it. No cracks in the case, barely any signs of wear even on the bottom, all sliders feel great, as clean a 101 as you’ll ever find.

“We are pleased to offer this excellent rare blue Roland SH-101 Synthesizer with original box. It is in great shape for being nearly 40 years old. One minor scrape on tip of one key (photo) and a missing screw on the bottom (no photo). Battery compartment clean and fully tested and works fine with batteries. I am not an electronics expert, so am going to describe this as best as possible. I am happy to answer any questions. Synthesizer is clean and the only damage are some scratches on the back as seen in the photos. I don’t see any cracks or damage to the case or keys. I have plugged into the headphone jack and it produces sound and knobs and toggles all seem to work. (Again, I am not an expert on what this should sound like, but seems fine to me.) It has batteries, which it works fine off of; also works with the power cord. I have not tested any other inputs or outputs. The only issue I can see is that when pushing the power button on a couple of occasions I had to push it a couple times before it would engage.”

“Unit powers on and for the most part functions well. However, I do not have a proper power adapter for use with this unit so it was only tested with battery power.

The volume knob is a bit scratchy and I am unsure about the Portamento function (in adjusting it I heard no difference to the sound.) All other knobs and sliders seem to function as they should.

“Fault with Hold button works intermittently but I think it needs to be changed or contact cleaned.

I had a similar problem with Roland TR 606 step buttons a while ago, before being serviced.

Synth cosmetically in excellent condition, and all other functions are working great sliders still feel nice to use not loose at all, barely a mark on the synth.

I no longer live near a tech (old Roland tech used to stay nearby and has since retired) and having a clear-out of older equipment, as mostly using new analogues or in the box these days.

The synth comes with Roland 9v power supply, can also function on batteries, compartment clean and never been used.”

“Here we have a prime example of classic analog goodness. The legendary Roland SH101.

This particular example is in excellent condition. EVERYTHING works as it should. This baby is CLEAN. Even the battery posts are rust / corrosion free. Rare to find such a classic SH in this condition. The only thing to note is that the Portamento knob is slightly bent but works perfectly. Its been like this since i bought it years ago, just stating for full disclosure : )

“In good working order – everything works as it should, the volume knob sometimes gives a very slight crackle when moved.

Some of the graphics have faded / worn on the front panel, please check the photos to see this. Someone has also glued the battery compartment shut so unable to powered by batteries unless you break the glue.
