“Long version: This MonoPoly is fully functional. I have owned it for about 15 years, during which time a number of servicing actions have been implemented. All of the pots and switches have been treated (Caig) and last week the main PSU smoothing capacitors were replaced (see owner’s manual KLM-376-MP, C13/14 etc.). The PSU rails (+/-15V and +5V) have been recalibrated to within the manufacturer’s original tolerance and the ripple per rail has been measured to be <10 mV.
When I first got my MonoPoly, the front panel screws had rusted, or the surface finish on them had worn off, so I replaced them with button headed socket screws (2.5 mm, see pictures). I have fitted a MIDI interface (MidiPoly, instruction manual/details will be emailed to the winning bidder). This has been done without altering the original instrument, except that now the rear mains subpanel has an IEC mains inlet fitted (rather than a flying lead), with 5 pin DIN MIDI in and out sockets immediately adjacent to it. The front panel (this one is in good condition) is not modified in any sense (no additional switches or controls, for example). “This keyboard is a monster in sound and physical weight. Super phat analog sound especially from the synth section, no wonder the Phoenix keyboardist loves this board. Condition is excellent for a 40 years old synth, shows a few splinters in the wood here and there but overall great shape for its age. Good: All keys work. All buttons and knobs work well, some scratchyness in some but would be cleaned up from a good cleaning. The “write program” button doesnt seam to work but maybe Im missing something.. Not so good: tested it out on a tuner last night, the lower two octaves show about from 5-10 cents flat, one was closer to 15 on the tuner, seems to be on par with a synth this old from what I hear but being the bass notes its harder to hear the pitch being out.. I would assume some capacitors on the synth probably need to be changed now or in the future due to its age, which might “tighten” it up. The headphone out works great but the mix out seems to be finiky sometimes but messing with the plug seems to work, probably another deep cleaning needed issue, the direct outs from each of the voices work well from what I can tell. With that all being said, understand this is 40 year old board and there might very well be issues arising that Im not aware of or noticing at the moment or will happen in the future so this board is being sold as is. Purchased 2 years ago from Tokyo Japan, comes with Korg road case with casters, Im assuming thats original from 1980. 100V but works well on American 120V but keep that in mind, theres conflicting opinions about analog gear being “ok” with that small of a difference, Ive had a couple other old synths and it wasnt a problem. ” Click here to search for synths on eBay

One broken missing key and one key that needs to be put back in place (have 1 key and spring) actuators for these keys work so just a matter or replacing installing the keys. A few small dings and scratches but overall in good shape for its age. 1983?

“Korg Poly-800 Vintage Synthesiser comes with original owners manual. Lovely keyboard I inherited from a family member, hardly played and it does turn on HOWEVER IT IS BEING SOLD FOR SPARES as it does not currently work properly. The pitch bend PCB is corroded completely and the battery compartment is corroded too. The pitch bend unit from what I can tell . . . left/right should bend the pitch up/down . . and up/down should apply modulation . . . at the moment the up/down part is basically always on, so the sound aways wobbles, and left/right doesn’t work at all when pushed left or right, but when left in the middle it sort of wobbles around, as if you were constantly tapping it just enough to get the pitch to jump around a little. I suspect the only way to salvage this would be to find a replacement Korg 800 pitch bend unit but there’s NO guarantee the keyboard would even work after that. ” Click here to search for synths on eBay
