“Used Siel DK 80 FM Synthesizer. From 1985. Very similar to the DX-7 Yamaha. I used this for a few years and it always worked well. Pulled it out of storage yesterday (a temperature controlled bedroom in my parents house) to test before selling and it doesn’t seem to work anymore, however. The unit makes somewhat loud (relative to the sound of the synth sound) buzzing sound, or the synth level seems quite low. “The fine item you are considering is a Rare Vintage Powertran Transcendent DPX Synthesizer Keyboard. This super-rare synth from the UK company Powertran was offered in a kit form only back in the 1980’s, leaving it up to the buyer to actually construct the keyboard. From all reports, very few of these are still functional, but amazingly, this one is! The keyboard is powering up, and all the keys are working, although one key does stick down when depressed. I can’t tell if the various other buttons are doing anything, as no matter what I press I still seem to be hearing the same type of sound, so some aspects may need work, but I’m astounded that it’s working at all after reading some reports on the web. It’s not very often these will come up for sale, more so because only 6 were in existence.
If you’re looking at this advert you may know of Orgon Systems cult following most notably for its Enigiser filter commented and admired by many a forum.
In the time I have had it its been well looked after and mid 2019 I had both the modulars serviced by Kent Spong and this without schematics, as they do not exist!
This could be a once in a lifetime purchase and if you’re a modular lover or collector could be the only time you will see one of these. I have had several requests in the past for pictures of the boards and especially the filter module for clone duplication which I have respectfully declined. There’s a charm and history surrounding the build of this machine which I have chosen to respect given these were not supplied with any manuals or schematics by its creator.

“This Roland JD-800 looks to work; did some quick testing of the oscillators, filters, envelope generators, and VCA’s and didn’t see any problems. You can see the orange instrument lights and LCDs all light up appropriately. All knobs and sliders seem to work just fine, but many of the piano-keys currently stick together, a few don’t go down at all, and some don’t sound. This is due to the Roland factory piano key-glue softened while it was otherwise being safely stored; the glue just simply breaks down and the weights refasten themselves onto the bottom of the keybed or the keys next to them. The case has some cracks in it near the system keys (see photo) and a chunk has broken out. All the buttons around it appear to work fine.
