“We bought this broken synth while our tech was on vacation. We’ve had nearly all vintage synths but never had one of these, so we were pretty excited about buying one for the collection, or at least playing with for a while until we got tired of it. So we emailed our tech and he was like “yeah, sure, I can fix it, no prob”…..until he returned from vacation and we took a close look at it and discussed what it would take to get it up to our high standards, which, admittedly, are way higher than most. Considering the amount of time and money we would have to invest in fully refurbishing it to meet our standards and the fact that we have much more important items to deal with here that require time we haven’t got, we are offering this unit strictly as is. Our price reflects what we have invested in it so far. We would only recommend this Synthasound to someone experienced in the repair of such items, as either a fixer-upper or a parts donor. “PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good – There are lots of scratches on the top side of the enclosure above the control panel. There are dings on the back side along the top edge and near the metal lip which sticks out on the back side with the labels for the jacks on the back side. There are two little stickers leftover from the previous owner with numbers labeling the MIDI thru and CH1 output jacks. The metal side panels also have scratches near the top edges primarily. The keys have light marks from being played. The marks are visible on the black keys mainly. WORKING CONDITION: Excellent. Perfect working order in all areas and it sounds wonderful. “Here is my beloved Ensoniq SQ-80 that I bought in 1988. This revered keyboard is in good working order. It has a working hard drive, new battery, clear, bright screen and excellent sound. All keys work well, all buttons and sliders, as does the aftertouch. It is in good cosmetic condition, as well, with a few dings and scratches commensurate with its age and use. It has been played mostly in a small music studio and well cared for. A bound Musician’s Manual is available. ”

It was working reasonably well until I decided to degunk the inside and replace the faders, as one of the tone generator faders was noisy. I bought replacement parts on eBay long ago (i.e. chipforbrains’ 43 piece reproduction slider and caps set, in 2011), then the project was shelved. I would love to get it reassembled and working again, but I’m downsizing and just do not have room for it. The original box and documentation is gone. I made no modifications (i.e. did not try to install MIDI or other changes).”

“This a vintage analog polyphonic Roland Alpha Juno synth. A great way at getting a classic Juno sounds cheaper than the other models. The synth is in great condition, except for a small crack near the power switch…. this does not affect playability and the structure of the synth is still solid. The synth works perfectly except for the backlight for the screen is a bit faint, but you can still see the values on the screen… you may want to get a new bulb at some point. This comes with a Roland MSQ 100 digital sequencer, i bought this recently but never got around to trying it out. “This is a Jupiter-8. You know what it is, you know what it sounds like.
I’ve owned this particular JP-8 since the early 90’s. It had been dropped some time in its life prior to me buying it. It is a very early serial number (May 1981, 210th JP-8 ever made). Over the years, I’ve owned 5 or 6 other JP-8s and every time I compared them, I always kept this one. There’s just something special about the way this one sounds.
Over the years, I’ve added the Encore MIDI kit and have recapped the power supply and output board and installed new regulators in the power supply. There have been other minor repairs over time, but nothing especially difficult or comprehensive.
Since this is a vintage synth, I would think any potential owner would like to have a set of hard to find parts, just in case, right? Why spend a lot of money on a vintage synth and then have to spend hundreds of dollars and lots of time tracking down very rare spares? I’ve done the work for you here.
You get the JP-8 plus original owner’s manual, Encore MIDI manual, fold out service manual, and a lot of spares. Among the parts are – replacement sliders, extra knobs and slider caps, extra potentiometers, a couple posistors, some rare metal cans, a dozen BA 662’s, an IR3109 IC, some new black keys, some new white keys (including a high C) and some used white keys, springs, some new tact switches, and some original switch caps from a TR-808. Basically anything your tech would need other than stock IC and resistors/caps.
The JP-8 has been tested and I recently did a quick tune of the oscillators and is 100% working. Shipping it, or any extended car ride will likely get it slightly out of tune/calibration, but getting it back in tune is something that you or a tech could do in less than an hour since the autotune gets it the rest of the way once you’re close.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“The synth is in excellent condition. There is a small hole at each end (see pics) that have been there since I purchased it some years ago. They are in no way have any effect on the operation of the synth. Aside from those, cosmetically it’s amazing. Minor signs of wear, but nothing of note.
