“This is a legendary synth that needs no introduction.

A mainstay of the 80s pop scene the sounds on this model were heard on countless hits.

This model has been in storage for quite a while so I have given it some good TLC ready for it to go to a new home.

A fresh battery has been installed and the original European sound bank loaded back in and sounding great. There are however a few problems so do read carefully before bidding.

The buttons are a little unresponsive. There aren’t any that don’t work at all, but sometimes it takes a few goes or a restart in some cases to get them to show up for work.

The B keys DO NOT WORK. Every single B key on the keyboard does not get a sound, leading me to believe this is a connection issue, an easy fix that I just do not have time for.

It is definitely the physical keys because I’m pleased to report that when controlled via MIDI with an external keyboard/DAW it works perfectly. ”

The synthesizer itself is in excellent cosmetic condition. It’s just a bit dusty in the photos!

The calzone flight case is robust and in remarkable condition as well. After 40 or so years, the interior foam is a bit brittle, but the case itself is reliable and cosmetically clean.

Cartridges with factory voices are all original and in great shape

Pedals work perfectly and are original Yamaha, Japanese made accessories

“Up for sale is a Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer. Overall, the instrument is in very nice cosmetic shape, with a few scratches along the sides, top and bottom as shown in the photos. The worst looking part is the back right corner, shown in the 12th picture. A few keys also have small scratches; they did not photograph well but I took pictures of the affected keys.

Functionally, the unit is as it should be except that the internal battery will need to be changed soon (I am not great with a soldering iron, so I think that is best left to the next owner!) and the mod wheel does not seem responsive. I suspect that either I messed up something in the settings or that the battery could be affecting it, as the mod wheel has worked every other time I have used this synth. All patches sound correct (except for the “BC” patches, which I believe require an external breath controller), and the membrane buttons are in nice shape. The sliders are also functional, although the volume slider goes from really quiet to really loud without a whole lot in-between.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
