Prophet 600

“10/15/20. My tech just went through and check all functions. Battery is good and shows 3V.

This is a rare Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 OS version 2.9 (uploaded Video showing power up can be seen in my tristarmusicgear Instagram page) in 100% working condition with the must-have GliGli Mod, which truly takes the synth to the next level, putting it alongside the Prophet 5 as one of the greatest analog polysynths ever.

The previous owner painted the wood side panels black, which in my opinion gives it a sleeker and more refined look. See for yourself in the photos. If you prefer brown wood, there are a few people selling Prophet 600 wood side panels online. Few dents on the membrane panel.

The synth was fully cleaned and serviced by a synth professional when acquired from previous owner. There are a few small scratches and dings as you can see in the photos, and a few knobs have fading paint, as you might expect from a synth that is almost 40 years old. ” Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 Analog Keyboard Synthesizer, manufactured in the early 1980s. Condition is used. Shipped with UPS Ground in included Road Ready flight case (slight crack in case – purely cosmetic! – see attached photos).

This keyboard is in excellent condition! Plays beautifully, extremely fun to program. Historic, early MIDI compatible synth. No real cosmetic damage; all original knobs, wheels and sliders.

This analog gem has been in my studio since 2008 – I am a retired studio engineer and theatrical sound designer. I have listed this item for parts not working but the synthesizer does work but is in rough / medium cosmetic condition. Electrically it seems to work fine but I cant say for sure all the functions work as it has never been serviced by a tech in the brief time Ive owned it.
here is what I do know.
all keys work and produce sound. synth tunes up and after warm up stays in tune.
touch pad looks rough but all buttons work. there are about 10 presets stored that play.
you can make your own presets and they will store in memory for recall.

Wiggling the switch for the wave shape usually does the trick, but I suspect pots need to be cleaned. I’ve lowered the price because of this. No other issues with the synthesizer. “I’ve had this synth for about 7 years. It sounds fantastic, looks beautiful and clean, and I’m sure I’ll regret selling it. From what I’ve tried, the new DSI synths don’t come close to the raw immediacy of this sound.

This P600 was acting up and had a recent trip to Wine Country Sequential last year to fix some underlying bugginess. In the time I’ve had it it has seen an almost entire replacement of the digital control ICs for the panel controls, as well as the replacement of all the original plastic potentiometers with nice metal, panel mounted, buttery smooth metal pots, and a new production membrane pad. It also has a new battery, brand new EPROM, and all original factory presets loaded in.

While it is completely up and running (and sounding amazing!) one of the filters doesn’t quite track. If interested, I can answer any questions or send sound samples regarding this.”

“This Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 is for parts/needs repair. The keyboard is cosmetically clean overall but the left side wood panel was cracked and has been repaired (pictured). Also, the Frequency knob in the LFO-MOD section is missing. The keyboard powers on and all parameters are working but there is a total of 5 keys that do not pass any sound. We are not repairing. Selling this as is as a project synth. The keyboard mostly does work. This is a great project for a tech to get into to restore it to its full glory.”

“Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 Keyboard Synthesizer with Anvil Case, sustain pedal and original preset cassette. The synth had the battery replaced a few years ago and seems to be fully functioning as it should. There are a few nicks and scrapes on the sides and on the metal, but overall it is in great condition. “A baby brother to the venerable Prophet 5, this Prophet 600 is packed with analog goodness! Unit is in overall very clean condition, recently tested and is 100% fully functional. All keys work and trigger reliably. All knobs function without crackles. Switches all work 95% reliably, but can benefit from an occasional shot of contact cleaner. MIDI in & out tested and functional. Original wood end caps are in very good condition. No obvious cosmetic flaws to mention considering the instrument’s age.”

“The Prophet 600 was the first commercially available MIDI equipped synth (1981).

I recently took out the key contacts and cleaned them (this is a commonly needed procedure for these). The keys are perfectly straight and the action is nice and even from key to key.

The memory works perfectly.

This unit has not been modified in any way.

These sound amazing. They can be extremely aggressive and biting. The cross mod capabilities are very nice.
