You already know that this is the original MIDI synth with a distinctively aggressive sound.

“A nice condition Prophet 600 with the Gligli mod. This synth is sooo warm compared to modern synths. Just had it tuned up by The sequential guy here in the Bay Area. The Gligli mod changes up a few of the functions some of the knobs do so make sure to download the Gligli manual to know what your twisting. As with all vintage analog synths, let her warm up for at least 5 minutes to let the oscillators tune. I’ve gone through all the keys and knobs. Everything works great. Certain numbers on number pad can get stuck occasionally but after tapping once or twice they go back to working fine. The output sounds great, and the midi works. Sequencer and arp are working too! ”

“This synth uses the same CEM 3340 VCOs you’ll find in the Prophet 5 Rev 3 and OBerheim OBXA/OB8.

First commercial synth with MIDI

Pro Serviced (May 2018) with fulll calibration, GliGli installation, and keybed service. Gligli brings it up to specs with most modern synths regarding midi clock/sysex support/overhauled lfo and envelope sections/fm capabilities, filter drive and way more. This is basically as close as you’ll get to a prophet 5 without spending 5-6 grand. It’s a nasty nasty sounding synth especially for the money. Everything works, but you might want to clean the keybeds a touch.

“This Prophet 600 looks amazing for its age. All the knobs function and all LEDs light up in response to the touch pads. I re-loaded the 100 factory preset programs back into it to give it a fresh start and they play,sound and match their descriptions OK. I’ve never had this keyboard worked on and after ten years of home studio use followed by 23 years of storage in my closet here’s what went wrong:

1.) On a few programs, some keys are dead or weak, while in the rest of the programs all the keys sound out as they should. It exhibits this behavior since I pulled it out of storage. I probably should replace the battery but I don’t want to put any work/money into it unless I could verify it would fix the problems.

2.) Tunes itself OK but, it seems like an oscillator gets a little wavy at times. (De-tuning noticed during chords). The oscillators have never been tuned, gets a little better as it warms up

3.) That being said overall this synthesizer sounds great and I believe a little technical service will revive this rare and (truly vintage classic) analog synthesizer. “NOT WORKING! Will not turn on. I have owned this synth since it was new for my home studio. See pics for superb cosmetic condition. Never gigged, never left it’s climate-controlled, smoke free environment. I do not know what the issue is, but before it went into storage I tested it and found several keys did not play. This was always played thru MIDI from my DX7, so I didn’t notice this before that. Hopefully someone familiar with these can bring it back to life-these instruments have a wonderfully rich sound and deserve to be played.

It will ship with the original Owner’s Manual and a HYBRID flight case that I had made for it when new.

The Prophet-600 is a 6-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer with a 5-octave, 61-note (C-C) keyboard. Each voice consists of two VCOs, two VCFs, and two VCAs. Each of these components has its own independent ADSR envelope. Each Prophet-600 voice uses 2 sets of Curtis Chips for its architecture.”
