I have listed this item for parts not working but the synthesizer does work but is in rough / medium cosmetic condition. Electrically it seems to work fine but I cant say for sure all the functions work as it has never been serviced by a tech in the brief time Ive owned it.
here is what I do know.
all keys work and produce sound. synth tunes up and after warm up stays in tune.
touch pad looks rough but all buttons work. there are about 10 presets stored that play.
you can make your own presets and they will store in memory for recall.

“Sequential Circuits SCI ProFX Rack System w/ 3U Expansion Cage Rack Unit. Extremely rare 500-series format rack system manufactured very briefly between 1983-1984. This package consists of the MODEL 500 System Controller w/ 3U rack bay. MODEL 512 Distortion module, MODEL 514 4×2 Mixer, MODEL 524 Digital Delay module and 3U Expansion Bay Rack Unit. System controller and all units power on. Being sold as-is due to not being able to properly program it without the proper instructions. There may be issue with the digital delay module as it appears ‘stuck’ and its display will not react to any of the controls. “Sequential Circuits Pro One. Needs a good home. Condition is Used. This is a very special synth and is in full working condition with a few minor cosmetic flaws.There are so many things that make this synth special. These two Curtis 3340 VCOs (that so many modern analogue synthesizers have tried to replicate) allow for thicker bass notes and richer, more colorful, piano like Mids. The modulation matrix is capable of adding even more to the Pro One’s sound including countless timbral possibilities through FM synthesis, up to two LFOs, and a filter envelope that can also modulate pulse width and oscillator frequency as well. The Pro One also has an additional VCA envelope, and both envelopes have a re-trigger mode. Oscillator B can serve as an LFO or audio rate modulation source, and can generate frequencies independent of the keyboard. It has a sequencer and arpeggiator as well. The serial number for this unit is right in the sweet spot where Pro Ones had good power supplies and keys. That said even the better of the two key beds will need to be occasionally serviced. These keys have recently been serviced and none stick currently. They will begin to stick over time though, and the key bed will need to be routinely cleaned. This is the early version with the PCB with no solder mask and the large 10 bit DAC but with the Sequential Circuits name not the early logo..

In record mode all banks except 15 seem to work.
In playback banks 1 & 2 are skipped but not bank 15.
It seems to function but it skips memory banks 1 & 2, leds for banks 8 & 11 are out.
These were my notes when I still had a synth – I no longer have one to try with this.”

” This is a Pro One analog monophonic synthesizer Packed with features and a ton of modulation routings. This keyboard has the earlier, more reliable J wire keyboard. It is in good working condition. I’ve owned and used this keyboard for many years, always keeping it in my home studio. I was disappointed to find that after a recent move, one sliding switch was knocked off. Although moveable with a pen, the switch should be replaced. This part is still available from Wine Country Productions for under $10. This damage is shown in one of the photos. Because of this damage, I am offering this synth for less than it is worth. Although I have tested and confirmed that all features and functions work, it is sold AS IS. “The synth gets played a couple times a year for fun and that’s about it. I collect many instruments and have run out of space for some of them so I have decided to let this one go. It has been well cared for and shows no abuse or abnormal wear. It is fully operational and ready to play.

The keyboard is all original except for three dial caps and some springs for some keys in side. It has never been modified or converted to MIDI. I am assuming that means it is Rev 3. I don’t really know. It works perfectly and has a low serial number which I was told made it kind of rare since it also hadn’t been modified. It’s a super cool machine and an amazing piece of technology. It will make any collector stoked I am sure.

It can be upgraded to use MIDI and also a voice extender which would allow it to have many more voices. The parts or service to upgrade it can be done by several shops including, Sequential Circuits.”

“I turned it on and ran through some of the switches, buttons and knobs and everything responded affirmatively. You can see in the pictures that different lights are lit/ Plus it goes to 11. The floppy drive seems to work but I have no way of testing it. THere is also a disk that has some files, but as I gave away my MacPlus sometime last millennium, I have no way to see what else is on it. But as far as I can tell, this unit is very clean and is in Mountain View, CA just 10 miles from where the Sequential Circuits products were manufactured. ”

Soaring leads, smooth pads and even atmospheric “movie soundtrack” sounds are just the beginning of the Prophet 5 synthesizer! I love preset #32, the iconic synth preset that the The Cars used in the ’80s! Please understand that although every key on the 61-note keyboard works, that only four out of the five voices can sound at one time. Once you replace the fifth voice chip, you will probably want to re-calibrate, as all analog synths of this age are recommended to be re-calibrated every few years or so. “The original Pro-One monophonic synthesizer from 1981. Please refer to online reviews of this legendary instrument for detailed technical specifications. Suffice to say this is a classic analogue synth with extensive modulation capabilities, powerful filter with the SCI unique resonance, two oscillators, sequencer and arpeggiator. There is only one Pro-One in terms of build and sound quality; naming no names, recent clones are decent enough machines but simply that: machines rather than instruments. It was mostly triggered by a MIDI converter box rather than played direct during its working life, so the keyboard is responsive and without the triggering problems which some examples exhibit. There are slight though noticeable abrasions on the right-hand wooden sides (see photos) but otherwise it’s in a fine condition.

The Pro-One sound can be heard on recordings by artists as diverse as Vince Clarke, Michael Jackson, John Carpenter, and many others. It’s an absolute beast if you’re producing Techno or House.

This example has been kept carefully in storage since the early 1990s and has recently undergone an extensive service and overhaul by the Synthesizer Service Centre, London NW10 (invoice document included).

“I bought this damaged synth a while ago in this condition, but I’m unlikely to get around to fixing it up any time soon so selling it on as I need the space. It does not have a power supply and was sold to me as faulty so that is the condition you are buying it in (it requires a 15v AC power supply). There is water damage to the top panel with signs of rust and even some holes, mainly on the left and right edges.
