“Roland D-50 synthesizer. Fully working! Don’t let the fixer-upper condition fool you, it is functional and sounds amazing. I’ve been controlling it via midi and it works perfectly. Obviously will need some TLC; needs the upper 5 keys, is missing all screws for the bottom panel, contacts under buttons and keys need to be cleaned. “Roland SH-1000 vintage synth, Roland’s first synthesizer, and supposedly the first keyboard synthesizer made in Japan. In good shape, missing one knob, has one knob missing the silver top, wood has wear, and there are some scratches (see pictures), but has all the selector tabs, and everything works as it should. Does take about 20 seconds to warm up when switched on before it produces sound, I’ve been told that’s typical, but wanted to make that clear. Can be operated as a preset synthesizer with the 10 preset tabs, or you can create your own sounds using the waveform selection tabs and assorted modifiers. Has vibrato and tremolo with a choice of two waveforms, white and pink noise, random note generator, portamento, note glide, filter controls, ADSR, and an octave selector switch. “You will receive the pictured items. Please check the item’s condition. I bought it new in the late 1980s and it worked well with DX as the stereo output expanded. After that, it had been stored in the warehouse. It hadn’t been used for a long time, so I took it to a repair studio specializing in vintage synthesizers to have some parts replaced and some cleaning is done. It’s big and heavy, but it’s still an attractive piece of equipment. The hard case is only for shipping because it is partially broken. “Roland JX-8P Roland Analog Synthesizer With Road Case. This keyboard was part of our studio collection and spent most of its life stored in the case and used when we needed that great 80’s sound. I purchased this synth new in the 80’s so it is a clean one owner unit. Local inspection in central Wisconsin is welcome by appointment. Includes a new Hosa power cord and manual. ” This very rare 184 keyboard has been in storage for the past 15 years and before that was lightly used. It’s in the same near-mint condition that it was when I bought it on ebay 20 years ago. The only cosmetic issue that I can find is a small ding on the edge to the right of the pitch wheel, just to the left of the first key (enlarge the first photo to see it). “This will need to be serviced. It powers on and all of the functions for designing a sound work (adsr, lfos, pwm, portamento, chorus, ect). The things that haven’t been tested are the programming and saving of custom patches and banks, patch shift output, pedal hold output, and tape output and other possible functions I’m not aware of. I successfully connected it to my PC/DAW with a midi to usb cable (I’m not sure if all other midi functions work). And also connected it to my audio interface using a TRS cable.
The problem it has is some of the keys will not play the sound and or the sound will be messed up. Sometimes some patches on a certain key will give back lots of static. I’m guessing this is all a voice chip issue. It may be something else and there may be other issues that I’m not aware of. If you have any specific questions please ask and I’ll answer to my best of knowledge. If you need to test test something specific let me know as well. I’ll try my best.
The original owner gifted this synth to me. He was my neighbor and use to play in a jam band. He told me he has serviced it before in the past.

“The synthesizer is in 99% working condition. The only issue I’ve had with it is that the gain switch on the back gets scratchy when switching between low, medium, and high gain. All the keys and functions work, including the mono and stereo chorus. Stereo outputs both work so you can get that wide stereo chorus sound. The keyboard has not been modded and is all original except for the key transpose button and, possibly, some interior components (it was serviced prior to me purchasing it and I haven’t opened it up). “Roland D550 19″ Rack mount version of the legendary Roland D50 Linear Synthesizer from the late 80s. Combining real samples of the attack portion of sounds with synthesized sustaining portions, this synthesizer can be heard all over classic tracks of the time. Although it is 16 voice most sounds combine 2 of these (partials in Roland speak) which translates to 8 voice polyphony. It also features a basic EQ, chorus and reverb effects.
This example is in used but in good condition for its age. It has been rack mounted in a studio its whole life. There are a few minor scratches but no dings or dents. It has just been serviced and all is working as it should. The 3v lithium battery has been changed.
