Oberheim OB-8

” Vintage Oberheim OB-8 Owned By Legendary Bob Siebert w/ Hard Case + Extras! Synthesizer itself is in very clean condition overall. No major dust or dirt buildup of any kind. Cosmetically it looks very nice, but there are some obvious signs of wear, mainly the 2 holes on the back which were part of a previous tech’s attempt at fitting this unit with the after-market MIDI upgrade. Other than that, all the knobs and parts are present and all look very nice.

The unit was handed down to me directly from Bob. I did some cleaning, and bought brand new ROM chips from Italy. I wanted to do a full restoration, but determined that I liked the unit as close to factory original as possible. I was able to test many of the components, and even the original battery was running at a strong 3V with absolutely zero signs of leakage or corrosion.

Functionally, being as this is such a complex unit, I can’t guarantee any functionality, simply due to the age of the unit. At this time, the unit powers on, all of the buttons and knobs seem to be responsive, and the synthesizer itself is outputting an audio signal that sort of sounds like a constant musical “beat”. I am able to trigger the “Autotune” function, and I can recall saved settings. It seems like the keybed is functioning, but I’m not getting any full “musical” output by pressing the keys (so no notes actually “play”). The only output that’s audible (from all 3 outputs) is that generated tone that changes when you press certain buttons (like waveform etc). All components inside look good and tested fine, which is also why I chose not to rebuild the power supply at this time.

Other than that, the sale includes the nicely padded and very sturdy case. It will be shipped in this case and shipped as is. If you’re not interested in the extra memorabilia, just let me know and I can possibly lower the shipping cost. Shipped exactly as shown in the pictures.

Being as this is such a high value item, I will also need to add at least some form of insurance. This can be discussed between us prior to purchase. I’ve tried my best to describe the unit to the best of my abilities, but sometimes not everything can be described. So don’t hesitate to ask any and all questions. ”

“For sale is an original Oberheim Xpander. This extremely rare synthesizer needs some love. Some buttons get stuck under the front panel, and one of the 3 screens has minor damage as seen in photographs. There are other cosmetic dents and scratches. I do not know how to work on vintage synthesizers and therefore cannot guarantee it’s functioning properly. All I can guarantee is that when you plug it in it turns on and lights up. Ideally, this would be great for someone with experience working on analog synths like this. My guess is a thorough dusting, and some computer cleaner will have this Xpander ready to play. I’m selling as-is. Comes with after market power cord.”

“I bought this Matrix 1000 and a Matrix 6r over 9 years. They both worked perfectly fine with all the presets and sounds working great. I plugged both of them back 2 years ago and noticed that they were no longer working as well as before, losing their original power and now both are barely getting a signal. I talked to a local synth repairman and he told me to change the battery and firmware. I honestly never got around to servicing these machines, so I am letting them go for a very fair price. “I have for sale my Oberheim Matrix 6R Rack Mount Polyphonic Synth Serial #KGB4919 from the original owner.
This product was purchased in the US and will ship from our studios in CT.
 
Considering how old these are I would put this in the “excellent” category, however it does have the usual amount of scratches on the top and bottom from other rack gear being installed and removed. There are some minor scuffs and specs on the front but please check the photos to 1) see if you can notice them and 2) make note if they bother you. 
Otherwise, it works perfectly. I recently sold my mint condition OB-XA so I have a good handle on Oberheim products, so feel free to ask any specific questions or you can download the manuals from various sites as well.”

“Oberheim OB-1 in great working condition.
All keys are working well with even action. The output is full range and low noise as designed. The programmable presets all work, reliably, writes, and switches cleanly with LED tally indicators. Envelope generators are good and sharp. Both volumes good. Bend lever good, portamento good. Keyboard Track good and nice to have. Every mode works. To my knowledge, this has not been serviced or repaired. Note: the rear AC power switch lamp is out. Also notice the pitch bend lever bushing is missing its dust cover. All collet knobs and caps are good and not brittle. All pots are smooth and quiet. All 2 and 3 position slider switches are also of high quality and working cleanly in all modes. All black caps are programmable, grey caps are not.
This is a very nice sounding, comprehensive analog monophonic synth with two oscillators.”
