“This is an early Prophet 5 with model listed as 1000 and serial number 1593 . (Rev 3) It’s a synth that I’ve had for many years but when taken out of storage was working intermittently and eventually stopped producing any sounds.
The Prophet was brought into a reputable shop in Long Island and diagnosed. After replacing power supply and trouble shooting I was given the following tech info.
5- 2.2 wf @ 50 vdc
2- 10 wf @ 50 vdc
1- 2200 wf @50.vdc
Not being a technical person I don’t know the meaning of this information but on advise told that the instrument can be repaired by the right person and given the high price that a fully working prophet will sell for is worthwhile for the right tech person. It is my understanding that the #4 board is the actual problem and if replaced should get the unit working. The outer physical condition of the Prophet is clean and cosmetically excellent. I’ve decided to put the instrument on auction and sell to the highest bidder at a no reserve, and low starting bid. Presently the synth is in Montauk NY and could be picked up directly here, or could meet the buyer in Rockland county NY for a local pickup. Shipping is also possible and will charge actual shipping cost (USPS)
I forgot to mention that this vintage of Prophet 5 in full working order has been selling from five thousand to eight thousand dollars. Well worth it to get it up and running if you have the ability to do it. Good luck on the bidding. thanks
I would like to add the following Clarification. THe synthesier is powering on but not in working order. My original descrption clearly states this. The person that did the rebuild on the power supply and did the trouble shooting , indicated that it could be repaired but would need work by someone with the ability to repair it, It is not in working condition now and was indicated in the original description. I had originally checked off “Used” in the the eBay app and I’m told that this is not considered used but now sure why that is the case. In any event this is a unit that is not working, needs repair and I am selling it as is with no question as to whether the synthesizier is working or not. Also, indicated was that it might be better to shiop Via UPS, THe eBay app gives options on shipping and USPS was clearly the better choice.
