Roland Alpha Juno 1

“Synth plays and works.

***It has a intermittent crackling chorus chip***

When the chorus is ON it sometimes makes a crackling sound. It tends to do it more often than not. I suspect it is one of the chorus chips as these tend to go bad as these synths age. Maybe you have the ability to diagnose and fix it?

There is a simple work around however. Simply turn off the chorus in the menu and the intermittent crackling goes away. There is no dedicated chorus switch for synth so you have to access the menu to turn it off. Many of the preset patches use the chorus so be aware of that. You can create user patches that do not have chorus selected so you don’t have to turn off the chorus every time a new patch is selected.

Its not super loud and would be fine for live playing but would not be good for studio recording. I have always turned off the chorus to avoid the problem. And sometimes it doesn’t make the crackling sound for awhile and when it starts up again I turn off the chorus. Unfortunately its unpredictable.

Everything else on the synth is fine and plays well. It is in fair cosmetic condition. It has some cracks in the back of the cover that doesn’t effect it(see pics). The volume fader is missing the cap (see pics.

I realize this synth has an issue so I’m going to take off about $125 to compensate for that. If the chorus problem was fixed this synth could bring in 400-450.

I have owned this keyboard for 25+ yrs and taken good care of it in my studio. It’s great for pads and bass. The portamento is interesting on this synth and sounds unique to other synths I’ve owned.
