“Moog Prodigy 336A (Serial #2970)
Up for sale, a Moog Prodigy model 336A monophonic synthesizer in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced from 1979-84 in Moog Music’s Buffalo, NY factory, this short-lived synthesizer has become very popular as a bass synth in techno and electronic music; used by artists including Fatboy Slim, Depeche Mode, and The Prodigy (who even named themselves after it). Only 11,000 were ever made, and this early example (with a serial 2970) dates to 1980 or 1981. A similar Moog Prodigy with a higher serial number (#3078) was valued at $2,500 by the Bob Moog Foundation in 2020 (https://moogfoundation.org/announcing-2020-moog-trifecta-raffle-source-prodigy-and-rogue/). ‘Up for sale is a very cool Moog Taurus I in good working order. See pics for more details. It was gigged with in the late 80’s- early 90’s but was stored for the last 25 years. Fun fact, it was used by The National for a Chicago show in 2017 at House of Vans but that was its only performance as of recently.
I thought I might use it more but need to clear some space. Fully tested and functional. Some details of note:
-Includes Flight Case and custom mounting board for easy and safe handling (I removed it for the pics but it is included)
– Two holes were drilled in aluminum side rails to mount to said board (see pics)
– One key has a crack in it but it does not affect the performance (see pics)
– Some wear and tear on trim and logo as shown in pics

I really do not want to sell it but I finally decided it has got to go. I agonized for months about this decision. .everything works. Comes with a owners manual and instruction on how to tune it plus a ATA road case
There are people that say rev – 3 is the most stable in tuning. To me it sounds like white bread. Rev-1 the power supply was unstable hence the unique sound. I prefer Rev 2. “Moog Taurus II. You know it, you love it. It’s a Moog Rogue with an expansive, easy organ-pedal-style foot controller. Floyd, Rush, Yes, Genesis…Super deep thick bass or space jams as you wish. I just saw Brett Netson play one of these with Earth the other month.
The pictures show you the whole deal. Works great, all cabling, newish proper power supply. Pedals all work, electronics all work. No stand, but it’s just a pipe and easily replaceable…personally I did not need or want the stand; I just put the synth module on top of an amp.
You can buy Rick Wakeman’s elsewhere online for $8k or pay much less for mine! Local pickup in Chicago is fine, no fee for that, will meet up if you can get reasonably close.”

“The synth retains its original end caps which show moderate wear, and the bass-side end cap has a small chunk missing out of the back bottom corner. All of the original knobs and switches are present, and the graphics are clean. Cosmetic wear includes a number of minor nicks and scratches on the enclosure, largely relegated to the back and sides.”

“Moog Rogue Analogue Mono Synth Classic US Synth & PSU
This is a lovely Moog Rogue from 1980, two oscillators, pitch and mod wheel. Oscillator sync, etc. This synth is old school it has no memory, no effects, no midi. It’s a simple one knob per function Moog great for leads, basses and noises.
The synth has been cleaned and the tuning calibrated between the octaves and all keys work properly.
A couple of points that I have been asked about to clarify –
The PSU is brand new and has a three pin adapter as pictured. The synth runs on UK voltage and doesn’t require a power converter. The PSU cost quite a bit as it is custom made.
When it was cleaned and serviced the black foam that can perish and clog up these old Rogues was removed.
The synth plays well and all knobs and sliders function albeit with some crackle/noise. The pitch bend can be a little sensitive too but works.
It’s a 42 year old synth and still sounds great!

“For your consideration is a Moog Micromoog vintage analog synthesizer in remarkable condition. The instrument was disassembled, cleaned, and verified for complete and correct functionality. All keys, knobs and switch caps were removed, washed and replaced. All potentiometers were sprayed with electronics cleaner and perform smoothly. The action plays extremely well with no glitchiness at all. The key bushings were deemed to not need replacement. The unit has been calibrated to perfection and plays completely in tune.
The sound is proper vintage Moog, fat, round and squishy. Due to a few well conceived features (wide oscillator frequency control, variable and modulatable waveshape, sample and hold LFO waveform, modulation wheel control of the filter frequency) this synth is capable of sounds and effects unattainable by even the venerable Minimoog.
The Moog logo in front is intact. There is a subtle crack in the frame at the end of the top key, shaped in such a way that it is not easily noticed. It was there when I first purchased the instrument. There is an additional 1/4″ hole in the rear panel, probably for an attempted modification by the previous owner that never materialized.”

“Moog Prodigy classic two oscillator analogue synth. Fat Moog sounds plus a great feature of the Prodigy is the oscillator sync function for searing leads and crazy evolving sounds using the pitch wheel. Includes original owners manual, not pristine as this has got some markings on the inner covers. All knobs and switches work, but one knob has snapped off (but still functions ok – this is the volume pot for oscillator 1 which I’ve always used at full volume, so this has not really impacted the usability of the synth, but obviously impacts it’s value. Replacements may be available). Wooden endplates are a bit scruffy, would benefit from renovation. “This synthesizer is in nice cosmetic condition on the outside but had some issues with the plastic screw retainers on each of the side panels that hold on the bottom access panel. Being broken or stripped out i removed them and installed an aluminum angle and tapped it out to secure the bottom panel on with screws. As seen on the side panels i screwed the bracket on and you cn see the two screws on each side and this made the the synthesizer sturdy again. I tested this synthesizer out and made a youtube video. It seems that most of the function work but noticed that the filter does nothing to change the sound. I cleaned all the potts, slides and switches with deoxit and deoxit slider spray. All the capacitors and electronics on the boards looked to be original, I did not notice any newer capacitors in the power suppy section or any other place. This synthesizer will need to be restored by you or a technician before being used and being sold for restoration or parts.”

“This one is in excellent condition and working 100%. It has just been professionally serviced and with quite a bit of restoration. As the title says, this is a muSonics Minimoog which are rare and seldom come up. This model has several similarities to the RA Minimoog. Besides the metal face panel, clear pitch/mod wheels, squared back panel and walnut cabinet, the oscillator board, as well as the rest of the boards are all discrete. Many will describe the next generation, CA3046 oscillator board as the first board (I think they mean the most common and earlier board to the UA726 board.) The serial numbers from Minimoogs around this time were written with ink, not stamped, and have often worn off. You can get a close enough range by looking at the oscillator & filter boards since they generally have serial numbers written on them. The oscillator board shows #1219 and the filter board shows #1221. I have owned many RA & muSonic models over the years and this would be accurate. It It will be properly packaged when sold and will arrive in the condition as stated. Not sold as-is! Proof of the actual shipping cost will be provided if needed.”
