“There is some background noise in the audio signals output from the unit. The unit powers on, and all of the keys are responsive. There are some cuts in the power cable and it has been taped back together. This unit will need to be cleaned up as it is pretty dusty. There is visible dust behind the switches and keys. “For sale is a vintage Moog/Realistic MG-1 synth. It’s works great with no problems or issues, it has been modded. Condition as shown (someone took a sharpie and colored over some of the RadioShack labeling). Modifications include:

-mini moog nonlinear filter mod (thicker, phatter, warmer filter)

– improved audio output

– improved gate response (keyboard isn’t sluggish anymore)

– 1/4” audio outputs

– removed the black foam which can cause issues

– Moog Sticker placed on the back

I cleaned the synth heavily (belonged to a smoker) as well.”

The synth turns on fine and passes signal and makes lots of weird noises and sounds. Every knob and switch will change the sound in some way. That said, I sold this before and it was returned and the item is not working correctly. It sounds out of tune. I am selling this AS-IS, meaning no returns. “Offering my Realistic Concertmate “Moog” MG-1 analog synthesizer. It’s fully functional and plays and sounds well. This particular unit has had some previous maintenance performed (goo-foam mostly removed, failing analog sliders replaced with suitable new parts back around 2005.) It’s a fun, very direct, slightly-garage sounding synthesizer designed by Paul Schreiber for Tandy way back in the days of yore. It’s compared sometimes with the Moog Rogue, but built with budget consumer electronics in mind.

I purchased this unit from what I believe was its original owner back in 1997 or 1998 and have tried to keep it in great shape ever since.

This auction also includes an unbound printed copy of the factory technical service manual.

“Item: Used, working Mg1 synthesizer. This one has all new sliders and switches installed, and all the degrading black foam has been removed. Everything tests out well with this one, although it’s sold as-is, we really think the buyer should and is going to be happy with it. It even has a midi jack midi kit installed, that we have not tested, but probably works great. 1/4 jacks are installed as well. I didn’t test the filter input either but that probably works great. No mods other than that. The keys are a little “cosmetically challenged” in areas but all the keys trigger nicely and the rest of the synth looks excellent. “Brilliant analog synth manufactured by Moog in 1981 and sold under the Realistic brand until 1983. Lovely old school sound.

The condition is decent considering its age. The plastic knob on 2 of the faders have fallen off but they still function fine. Powers on and plays just needs some fiddling around to get some decent sounds – will need some work on it but works through my amp. I’ve inherited it from my father but I play the drums so it’s useless to me.
