“These were very cool unique synths made by Casio. They used “PD” or Phase Distortion synthesis which is somewhat similar to FM or Frequency Modulation used by Yamaha at the time (in fact it would be more accurate to call Yamahas FM synthesis Phase Modulation). Casio had a whole line of CZ synths and this was arguably the top of the line. It’s bitimbral and is an absolute pad monster!
This one has an issue common to these that’s making it unable to be used. It powers up like normal (and was working fine for me for years) but now no sound at any of the outputs. The issue is a stuck relay associated with the output. It’s a known problem and not a difficult fix, simple part swap. I just don’t have the time and I have too many synths.
Cosmetically it’s not great but not terrible either. The plastic case is faded to varying degrees, the fader caps are missing (though the faders are still usable as is), there’s some dust, scratches, dings, etc, and the battery compartment (for backup memory) is missing it’s cover.
