“The Korg Trident is a polyphonic and programmable instrument with three independent sections – Synthesizer, Brass, and Strings. It features 8 voices of polyphony and the all 3 sections can be played simultaneously or in split mode (2 sections).
Each section has its own unique VCO voice architecture, VCF (filter) types, and LFO capabilities. The Brass section’s VCF and Envelope Generators are virtually the same as the Synthesizer section, allowing the Brass section to be used for generating additional synth sounds. The String section has some unique features as well such as a “Bowing” effect. Other unique effects includes a global Flanger that can self-oscillate. Flanger controls include Speed, Feedback, Intensity and Manual. The “Ensemble” effect in the strings section is absolutely wonderful.
The Trident also featured 16 user memory patches. A midi kit can be installed and is available from Kenton Electronics. I have personally installed this kit on my other Trident and can be installed should you be interested. There are also discrete mono outputs for each section and a mix output.
I have recently spent $1,200 for this keyboard to be recapped and several CMOS replaced, all done by Analogix. This unit is guaranteed to be fully functional.
