Korg Poly 61

“For a demo and description, see video below.

Short Story:

The synthesizer is in working condition. I am selling it because although it had been an ambition to own one, I do not use it enough.

All keys and buttons work, all functions work as intended. The battery changed two years ago. Cosmetically the unit is un good order but there are two small dents above the arpeggiator. The sound is what I would call gritty with the slightest hint of glitches when first powered on, this decreases after about 10 minutes.

This is the Korg 61 model without midi, and inside no extra anti-log board inside, this is integrated onto the KML509A main board.

It is also worth noting the marks on the keys have since been removed.

Long story:

I brought the synthesizer two years ago as a non-functioning unit with the aim of fixing it and enjoying it and achieved both. I am selling it because although it had been an ambition to own one, the novelty has worn off and I tend to play my newer ones more. I changed the battery (corrosion damage appeared minimal to non-existent), replaced a broken key, cleaned the key contacts and fixed a dent on the underside using Bondo (see video below). The dent was causing a short on the voice board because the base is lined with foil on the inside. This is now no longer an issue and all six voices work and are in tune with each other. As a result of the dead battery, I reprogrammed the presets using the cassette tape inputs on the keyboard.

All functions operate as intended and it sounds as it should and it sounds great with bass that can burn out one’s speakers if not used with care. I must mention, that when first powered on a very slight glitchyness is heard on some patches and this fades after about 10 minutes powered up. This issue will be inline with the age of the unit, which to my knowledge was never recapped. Therefore because of the age do no expect this to work forever without a service

In my first two weeks owning in on rare occasions some keys would go out of tune, power cycling it fixed the issue and eventually the issue went away. This did not reoccur after the first month and I assume, was related to the many years it went unused before I got it. That said, given the age of the unit I cleaning the key contacts and joystick is something I would recommend as I have not done it in two years and maybe if you decide it’s a keeper to take it to a professional technician so you can enjoy it for years to come.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
