“Here’s the deal.
This is the second one I’ve owned, and the second that’s crapped out on me in the same way.
I bought this one with some issues, notably some severed wires internally(?) and minor stuff (battery swap, controls needed cleaning).
Backplate was sanded and repainted from different unit because it had some surface rust (no water damage, I promise)
I got the thing fully functional- everything sounded like it should. Gloriously sharp 80s pads and the like.
And then I tried loading in the factory patches via tape dump
And that bricked the sucker.
Same whale noises as the first one that died the same way. The oscillators are working, but on power up it’s this big whooshing sound that drones on.
No idea if it’s a stuck bit somewhere or something dumb, but I’m stumped, and it’s hardly a coincidence that BOTH of them I’ve owned have done the same thing.
Please fix this damn thing and tell me what it was.”
