“Ensoniq ESQ-1 Digital Wave Synthesizer with analog filter. Recently purchased from the original owner as a “fixer upper” as after years in storage the unit wouldn’t power up successfully. The VFD display would flicker briefly and go no further. I’m assured the synth had only been used at home and not gigged. I suspected a power supply issue, possibly needing a recap or service. I ended up swapping the keybed to repair another ESQ-1 with yellow keys.
So this listing is for an unexpanded ESQ-1 (earlier metal body version) with an unconfirmed fault and flat backup battery. The sale includes the keybed from the other unit but with all white keys removed as I planned to whiten them. You will receive all of the white/yellow keys (undamaged) and springs to rebuild the keybed which worked without any issues. Photos show what “might” be displayed on the screen when powered up; most times it will just flicker briefly. This suggests a relatively simple and low-cost repair for a competent tech. Clean unit with no damage. Selling for spares or repair with no returns.”
