“This is a Jupiter-8. You know what it is, you know what it sounds like.
I’ve owned this particular JP-8 since the early 90’s. It had been dropped some time in its life prior to me buying it. It is a very early serial number (May 1981, 210th JP-8 ever made). Over the years, I’ve owned 5 or 6 other JP-8s and every time I compared them, I always kept this one. There’s just something special about the way this one sounds.
Over the years, I’ve added the Encore MIDI kit and have recapped the power supply and output board and installed new regulators in the power supply. There have been other minor repairs over time, but nothing especially difficult or comprehensive.
Since this is a vintage synth, I would think any potential owner would like to have a set of hard to find parts, just in case, right? Why spend a lot of money on a vintage synth and then have to spend hundreds of dollars and lots of time tracking down very rare spares? I’ve done the work for you here.
You get the JP-8 plus original owner’s manual, Encore MIDI manual, fold out service manual, and a lot of spares. Among the parts are – replacement sliders, extra knobs and slider caps, extra potentiometers, a couple posistors, some rare metal cans, a dozen BA 662’s, an IR3109 IC, some new black keys, some new white keys (including a high C) and some used white keys, springs, some new tact switches, and some original switch caps from a TR-808. Basically anything your tech would need other than stock IC and resistors/caps.
The JP-8 has been tested and I recently did a quick tune of the oscillators and is 100% working. Shipping it, or any extended car ride will likely get it slightly out of tune/calibration, but getting it back in tune is something that you or a tech could do in less than an hour since the autotune gets it the rest of the way once you’re close.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“The synth is in excellent condition. There is a small hole at each end (see pics) that have been there since I purchased it some years ago. They are in no way have any effect on the operation of the synth. Aside from those, cosmetically it’s amazing. Minor signs of wear, but nothing of note. All knobs and sliders are intact and all lights work perfectly. Audibly all is also fine with no crackle or any other issues. Overall, the synth is in perfect working order and a must-have classic! “Everything I can think of (as an experienced keyboard guy), I checked.
All the keys work.
The oscillators all work.
All VCF functions work.
Portamento and noise generators all work fine.
The VCF stage has some internal noise, much more than new, obviously, so it functions as a feedback oscillator when the Q is set high- this, to me, isn’t a bug, it’s a feature, and a fun one.
One of the “tablet” style switches was broken off, but still perfectly usable, I kludged up an extension to make it easier to actuate- there are a bunch of old home organ models that use the same type of tablet (not Yamahas, though, which is what’s sitting here at the shop and easy to get to)
Serial #255385, I haven’t been able to pin down DOM from that yet.

“Selling my vintage Roland TR-606 analog drum machine. Fully tested. You really cannot duplicate the sound, groove and feel of these toms and hats; toms are amazing with tons of low end and well eq’d thump. The kick on this one has lots of low frequency – as analog machines tend to vary slightly between units. Snare is bright and snappy! I have used every possible feature of this unit… The Din Sync works – in and out. The tom trigger outs both work. All buttons switches and pots are not noisy and are functional. Output jack is not noisy or scratchy. No mods have ever been done. It retains its pattern memory and has no corrosion in the battery compartment. “Up for bidding is a very nice condition, old Roland Cr5000, The exterior is clean however there are alot of light scratches to the white plastic which are very faint and may not show up in photos, also there is a bit of a light area on top which may have had a sticker or something. All that being said it still looks very nice. I tried to test most aspects of it and it appears to work very well. I did notice that when using a standard guitar foot switch you had to click it twice, it is really a fun little thing. “I am reluctantly selling my Roland SH101 from 1983 – All genuine, I have owned this one from new. …I purchased it from ‘Future Music’ in Chelmsford (no longer trading) and still have the receipt to prove it. So it’s a 1 owner since new item.
This unit is 35 years old and has been extremely well looked after. It has never been gigged and has had light studio use only (smoke free environment). For its age, it is in very good condition with every conceivable feature working as originally intended. It has recently been serviced / calibrated, So its ready to perform like new.
Cosmetically (for it’s age) the unit looks stunning, there are no broken keys or missing sliders, everything is where it should be. The case itself has no cracks or chips, however the ‘grey colour’ has changed slightly over the years from I guess, UV light exposure (…this of course does not affect the audio performance whatsoever).

“You know that sliding bass sound at the beginning of Prodigy’s “Firestarted?” This is the vintage analog synth whose brother made it. The SH-101 is very cool, especially for techno, drum&bass and ACID! It’s a monophonic bass synthesizer. Its sound lies somewhere between the TB-303 and a Juno bass sound. It has a lot of simple but cool features. You can control the VCF, pitch, LFO or all from the pitch bender. It has a white noise generator, arpeggiator with up, down and up/down patterns and a simple real-time sequencer. The LFO offers random, sine, square or noise waveforms. And normal or auto portamento effects give you that elastic bass sound. There are external clock inputs for the sequencer and arpeggiator, CV/GATE inputs and outputs and a CV hold pedal. Unfortunately, there is no patch memory storage and although it has no MIDI there are apparently upgrades available for it from many analog service companies that will allow you to incorporate it into any MIDI studio environment. It can also be controlled by MIDI using a CV/MIDI converter. It’s great for deep sub-bass sounds, sliding bass sounds or bubbly analog effects. This one comes with the optional Hand Grip so it can be strapped on like a guitar for live performance”
