” Up for sale is a Roland JX3P. This is an amazing synth from 1983. If you’re looking at this auction, you probably know what it is and what it does. Considered a “hidden treasure” type of synth, this particular JX is in great condition. Kept only in my non-smoking studio. Never dropped or exposed to rain. All buttons, knobs, and lights work. MIDI ports work. The resonance has been tuned/synchronized across all of the oscillators.

Can be used with a Roland PG-200 programmer for ven more flexibility but works just as well without it. All parameters are accessible and adjustable in real-time, even when the synth is being triggered via MIDI.

The JX3P is a sibling to the Juno series, having the same oscillators and filter section with the JX having an extra oscillator (Juno has one oscillator per voice and the JX has 2). The result is a machine capable of all of the classic Juno tones but also some new, deeper pads and basses. Plus you get MIDI functionality. The JX also has a sequencer which can be quite inspirational. Perfect for integrating into a modern MIDI-based studio.

Outputs on this JX are clean and noise free. Headphone jack is clean as well. Chorus is the classic Juno chorus.”

“For sale my Jx3p. I bought her in 1988 and still sounding amazing. She has been gigged in the early 90s. She is in full working order but has a few marks and cosmetic scares as you can see in the photos but nothing that effects the working of the board. ”

Obviously it is an old synth and has some signs of slight wear and tear. It was fully serviced in the 1990s, and is functioning well in all areas.

A thing of note to mention is that at some point (probably in the service) the power cord has been replaced with a super long cable, this makes it much easier when setting it up in a studio or on stage!

“JX-3P powers on and produces sound. Sequencer works and the synth sounds amazing. It was cleaned and calibrated by Davidson Electronics in NY about a year ago – they installed a new battery as well.

However it seems like there is a power issue. The synth sometimes does not power on. When this happens, if I lift the right side of the synth up (where the cord is), it powers on. Sometimes it freezes up and needs to be rebooted. For this reason, I think the power cord is loose or the power supply needs to be replaced. I am not a synth tech, so I’m not sure. For this reason, I am selling the synth “for parts not working.””

“You are bidding on a Roland JX3P in good physical and full working condition. It is a 1983 relic, so is NOT mint, but the light surface marks and tiny scratches are superficial. I would say this is in excellent condition though and only upon close inspection can you see it is not mint-perfect. I doubt anyone would be disappointed. All the functions, buttons, memories, lights etc are working as you would expect. Power lead, with UK 3 pin plug, is attached to the synth.

This auction come with the ESSENTIAL PG200 programmer, which is MINT. It comes with its original black plastic case and 2 programmer leads. These look like MIDI leads but are not. They are special leads for this programmer. You have 2 here.

Also included is the original manuals for both the JX and PG, the latter of which is quite rare to find.

Finally it is all housed in the original black Roland branded hard case (I even have the keys so you can lock it!). This is in beautiful condition, as you can see from the photos. Bender is good. it is missing one slider arm, the slider is inside and moves up and down. it was missing the power cable when I got it, as you can see from the pictures it was cut off. unsure why. “i fixed the dead c keys that were not producing sound. I cleaned up everything inside and out. After a few days of testing, all the functions Are operating and everything is in working order. The sound is nice the pitch is correct all the nobs buttons plugs ins and outs midi patch and lights work and it produces some amazing vintage synths sound. “for auction is a used Roland JX-3P synthesizer. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION

This synth has always functioned 100% for me for MANY years (besides the brightness slider which just broke off near the base of the post… will be included in auction)
HOWEVER… I recently opened it up to change the battery when it died, and realized it is the weird cylindrical type battery, not the
typical 2032 battery I was prepared to insert. I clipped the battery (same voltage) correctly to the posts and the preset saving worked
again. The problem is, now the editor no longer works. When you select a parameter to edit…the moment you touch the value slider, the parameter value jumps down to zero and will not respond to the slider any more. I am certain I didn’t drop anything on the circuit board or accidentally bridge a connection, so I have no idea what happened. It could be something simple to fix for someone who knows the circuit side better. Also.. the editing functions MIGHT respond to the PG-300, or the clone of it. I do not own a PG-300 to test this.
The preset sounds still function normally. You just cannot edit them. They do still save when the battery is connected. I removed the
battery and am just letting the synth go as is. I’m saddened by the loss, it was a favorite of mine, so hopefully somebody will
resurrect it’s full functionality and enjoy it. I do not think the sequencer responds as well.
once again.. selling as is. for parts or perfectly functioning presets to be fixed. ”
