Roland Juno 106

“Roland Juno 106 Analog Synthesizer serial number 488166! No body damage and missing parts (please see all photos). Includes Power Supply, Soft Travel case, and a created manual (please see pic). This is a legendary synthesizer used by so many famous artists I can’t even begin to list.

Acquired around 20 years ago when I was young and wanted to add an electronic feel to our “band” at the time. Never really developed into a keyboard player at ALL (nor did I have any true musical talent so it literally sat in my basement for 20 years) but, am hoping someone else with actual talent will enjoy it. It does have a plaque on it that states “Playing for Jesus” -Sister BJ (please see photo). Never wanted to take it off because of all the compliments and attention. I assume it was used in a church at one time.

**Please Note** I did test this afternoon everything appears functional except every 6th key on keyboard. When pressed every 6th key has a form of distortion coming when playing a note. In researching vintage synth boards, I uncovered that this is a common issue and generally requires a cleaning. I am by no means an expert so I will not attempt (to clean) and risk doing actual damage to the synth because I have no idea what I am doing.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

This synthesizer has been professionally serviced and a brand NEW set of six voice chips AND three voice shaper chips were installed. “vintage ROLAND JUNO 106 keyboard synth

it has vintage 2 prong power connection cable which
is hard to get, but I still managed to check if it works.

It turns on and works, all sliders are original , there is some noise on some sounds.
Some sliders and functions are producing the hiss, some decline to produce any sound.

This beautiful synth should be cleaned properly and it needs some
attentive overhaul and restoration, but is alive.
Some keys sound less loud then others ,

side panels of they keyboard are missing.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“– Nice working condition, clean, very good sound

— Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description

— Please notice the minor scratches on the empty panelbelow the “Roland” logo, at the “VCF”, at the “ENV” and near the “MIDI”

— As you can see from the photos the power rating is 117 V(i.e. 110 V, North America)

— Please remember that these synthesizers were manufactured1984 to 1991, so it is about 30 years old

— Used only occasionally, smoke free home, always stored under a cover. This was my first “real” synthesizer and I took very good care of it” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“This is a vintage Roland Juno 106 that works, but will need some repair for it to function normally. It was pulled out of my brothers storage space after many years of idleness. There wasn’t a power cable with it so I had to buy a special two prong cable that it needs. I’m not a synth wiz but I’ve done the best I could to describe the problems below!

It seems like these models have a known “voice chip” problem. I’ve noticed that the first 4 voice chips seem to be working and the last 2 of them are not, simply because the first 4 notes played will be heard, and the next 2 won’t. The pitch bender feels a little loose in the spring. It bends down and springs back up on its own, but when bending the pitch up it tends to slowly come back compared to the former, which comes back up immediately. Both up and down DO work though whether you are using it for pitch or for the filter, but I noticed that I couldn’t get any LFO sounds when pressing the wheel forward. The LFO though seems to be working fine when I put it on the automatic setting. My guess is that the spring in the pitch bender needs replacing since it does feel a little loose.

All the keys tested fine and activated (accept when there was a bad voice chip about to be played obviously!) both chorus settings worked, as well as the oscillator, frequency, and ADSR sections. Basically all the sliders and buttons made a difference when adjusting them. The presets work too. Cosmetically it doesn’t look too bad at all for how old it is and I think it still looks pretty nice!

I am not sure how much work this will require I’ve done a little research about these in order to gain some knowledge for this listing but again. I’m not an expert by any means, and even though I’ve gone through all the different functions as best I could, and I want to be clear that there could possibly be other issues that are just not apparent to me. So with that being said this is being sold as-is for repair/ working parts only and no returns. ” Click here to search for synths on eBay

” Synth has sticker on the back that says it was serviced in 1998 by Roland service. I’ve had it since ~2012. I purchased from someone on craigslist locally. The guy kept it covered with the black cover seen in the photos. I’ve kept great care of it ever since as I do with all my equipment. All voices work fine and controls work great.

**The only issue it has is the LFO delay slider goes from a little to a bit more towards the low end of the slider span. ie it jumps in value a bit.

This was much more noticeable when the slider was on the cuttoff frequency. I switched the two sliders because I didn’t care that the LFO delay had this sudden jump as It did on the cutoff. Honestly you probably wont even notice as it doesn’t jump that much. Maybe a value of 20 in terms of standard 1-127 in midi cc values.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“Roland Juno 106 for sale in good condition. I have owned this for 15 years, but It hasn’t been used in years. I have powered it on a few times over the years and let it warm up. It was also given a service about 4 years ago, everything was stripped and cleaned, but it hasn’t been used since.

As far as I can tell everything works ok, although the chorus buttons do not seem to do anything. All knobs and sliders are present. There is some slight cosmetic damage to the case. ”

“Fully restored Roland Juno 106 Analog Synthesizer working perfectly. Includes Juno 106 synth, US power cable and 1 extra 80017a voice chip.

All keys, slider caps, and buttons were removed and hand washed. Vacuumed and cleaned inside and out. All 6 voice chips had the resin removed to last for years to come. The one voice chip that was giving trouble when I purchased the unit has been socketed for easy removal in the future if needed. Includes one extra 80017a voice chip (resin removed) for replacement in the future if needed. Trouble tact switches were replaced for 1 touch operation.

This synth is my pride and joy. I am only selling this because I was recently layed off. My loss is your gain. Any questions, contact me and I will respond as soon as possible. ”

“Here’s a vintage original 1980s Roland Juno-106 Keyboard up for sale.

It works but not perfectly. It powers up and plays but it does not sound right. It sounds distorted a bit and not the way it is supposed to. This item is being sold as is for repair.

Keyboard is as pictured, for repair or parts, it’s complete with power cable, but some of the slider tips are missing. Most are there. ”

“Juno 106 programmable synth.
For someone new to this keyboard here are the issues that are common and easily fixed.

Needs #6 voice chip replaced. These are available on ebay for under 100$ new but there are ways to bring these chips back to life easily found on the net.
Needs a new battery. These are common watch batteries or I’ve read you can use a common 3.6v computer battery. The old battery clip is removed from the board and wired for a new clip to get mounted in a more convenient location.
#2 patch button is flakey and so are the key transpose and poly buttons.
You will need to reload the factory patches from the original wave files found easily on the net. ” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“Hello, today up for grabs is a blast from the past, and if you’re looking for one, then you understand why. Cosmetically it’s in good condition, the knobs and keys are in good working order, the bottom of the unit was made in wood, so it’s the most fragile part, but for its age still in good shape in my opinion. ”

Roland Juno 106

“This Juno 106 is used and excellent cosmetic shape but in need of some restoration. Unit powers on. All knobs, sliders, and keys work. Sound works, it is a functioning Juno-106.

All patches are wiped out. So one would need to restore patches through Tape Load of factory banks, or just make their own patches going forward. Some of the sliders have a subtle crunch, and the Volume knob is the worst offender, it is very noisy/crunchy and will need to be restored.

I inherited this synth from my father recently– it spent a long time in storage, and would be a great buy for a synth collector.”

“This keyboard is in good working condition. As far as we can tell everything is working. Most of the tactile switches have been replaced with new switches. The DCO slider by the pitch bend wheel is a bit sticky. The 3 slider caps, volume and portamento knobs on the left side have been replaced. Please examine the pics carefully for overall condition.”

“Powers up,all lights working, appears every fifth key not working, I don’t know what is wrong, maybe voice chips, maybe something else, or a combination of things, anyway, absolutely sold as is, no returns accepted. I prefer local pickup, where you can try it out, but I will ship, as long as buyer knows they are getting a keyboard that needs serviciong. You will need to connect it to an amplifier, as you probably already know. New replacement power cord included.

All sliders , knobs and buttons are present and accounted for. Bender is also perfect and functioning.

In very good physical shape, a few small melt marks on several keys, random light scratches and marks, and some scratches on the bottom of unit(see photos). Photos were taken with and without flash.”

“Roland Juno-106 Programmable Polyphonic Synthesiser

Works perfectly – just had voice chips and buttons replaced professionally. Everything else sounds and feel great!

There are a few minor chips to the paintwork but these could be easily sorted (all featured in photos). There’s also a scratch to the paint near to the Roland logo (please see last pic). There’s a slight white stain on the back (think this may be paint – see pics again.)

Really sad to be parting with this – would love for it to go to a good home.”

“LOVE this beast!!!! She’s been my baby for many years and finally we must part. Lucky you.

If you’re shopping for a Juno 106, you should know that there is a chip that eventually malfunctions and needs replacing. If a seller doesn’t specify that they have replaced it (as “serviced”), then it’s probably unserviced like mine. I believe the POLY2 voice has the error, the POLY1 voice plays fine (might be reverse). Replacing the chip was going to be my fun project until I became a starving artist. You can find the replacement for less than $100 and do it yourself, or it can be fixed up easily at any synth shop etc — very common issue.

In good condition, no knobs or anything missing, no real cosmetic damage. Keys work perfectly, etc. Only issue is it is unserviced.

Also including:

SKB CASE! The side plastic handle has been broken off, but the metal handle at one end enabling it to be wheeled works perfectly.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
