“This is a real treasure and a great learning tool for synthesizers. This multi-voice synthesizer from the mid-1970s was built from a kit and worked when it was retired, though I can’t promise it will now. It is solid-state, though, so why not? The schematics, procedure instructions, glossary, and setting/operating instructions are included so you can experiment away. Learn how the various electronics produce the sounds and learn how to control them. This is a nice, quality device.

“P9700S Series Analog Modular Synthesizer. This is a set of modules that form a complete system in a 19” rack case. Sold by PAiA as a DIY kit, this one is fully assembled (seemingly a long time ago). It’s listed as “for parts or not working”, but it actually does work. It is quite worn. The surface has some scratches, labels of controls are hard to read. Some of the cable connections feel loose. All of the modules can be calibrated, and they probably need calibration. Every connection and knob does at least work, but I’m not sure the performance is 100% accurate.”

“Cool kit-built synth from the 1970’s. One of my college friends built this, and I used it on gigs in the 70’s and early 80’s. The original oscillator became unstable, so I replaced it with an updated one (which is why the plate color is slightly darker). You can hear the unique sounds this instrument can produce on YouTube.

“This listing is for one extremely rare Paia “The Drum” 5700P Analog Percussion Synthesizer. It is essentially a cab filled with 4 identical modules that can generate a sound that is suited to percussive analog tones. It can be triggered via any sound source, including other drums, eurorack, a drum machine, etc. (voltage trigger OR audio into the 1/4″ jack). Each voice also has CV in that tracks across a few octaves so they can also be used as a stand-alone synth voice for basslines, melodies, etc. if so desired.
” Travel back in time with this vintage synthesizer. I don’t know much about it. The keyboard unit is 37 keys. It is a kit unit. I cannot even figure out where the power switch is, let alone the amplifier output jack. I got it from an electronics engineer who never once used it, who got it from another electronics engineer who apparently assembled it in the 1970s.
