“Casio CZ-1 Synthesizer. Keyboard and pitch/mod wheels work and it generates sounds just fine, but the buttons at the top work some of the time (hard presses sometimes register). I had this connected to my computer via MIDI and did everything I needed remotely, so this was essentially an oversized sound module. Slider knobs for Chorus and Volume are missing, and there is a sticker covering melted plastic on the case.

“The piano powers on and the lcd does display functions. Nevertheless, the lcd seems a little faded towards the bottom. I tried to take a good picture.

Also there is no sound and I am not sure why, i believe you need headphones or an amplifier which I don’t have so I can’t really test it. “FOR PARTS OR REPAIR CZ101 Does not power on and someone had tried repairing it previously. A part is loosely soldered to the board (see picpicture). Body has some wear but pretty decent for its age. It is missing the battery door and the power button cap. Some posts were rattling inside so I put them in a bag which is included. Also included is a reprinted User Manual. Please look closely at the pics and feel free to ask questions. I have been as honest as I can and included as many details as I remember because I don’t want anyone to think it is a dirty battery spring or anything but it is hopefully repairable to someone out there with more skills and time than me as I cannot get to it before an upcoming medical procedure. “So, truth be told this was found in the trash. It powered on but a bunch of buttons didn’t work. One of the boards had cracked but I was able to stitch it back together with silicon glue, jumper wires and a prayer. Some of the keys were also cracked and I glued them back together. Missing the slider knobs. Now all buttons and functions work.

I used this as a midi controller for a while and it did the job just fine. It also works as a synthesizer but man, those are some dated sounds. If you have a desire for overly strange digital synthesis, this could be for you. I have an analog Prophet and a newer Roland digital synth so this is all a bit redundant.

I don’t have the room for this (as you can see by the background I’ve got a few other things taking up space.) Will NOT include power cord, but it is get a normal IEC cord and they are cheap. “It’s only plays with headphones that I plugged in it-I guess maybe the speakers are blown. Therefore I am selling this for parts or repair. It does not work like it should. I found a power supply from a different Casio that works. That’s the one that comes with it .I can hear a couple small things tinging around when I shake it. “1980’s Vintage Casio CZ-101 Phase Distortion Synthesizer in good condition. I have listed in detail above everything in my limited capability to test. Some features were not tested because I do not have the tools necessary to do so. (see details above) 9v 5.4w AD-5 power cord not available. All testing was done using 6 1.5v D cell batteries (Batteries not included as part of this listing). The battery compartment is without corrosion. No midi cord available, so I could not determine if an actual communication is working in or out. Sound was tested using sound and line out. 49 piano keys are all responsive. All presets are sounding. Buttons are springy. None are sticking. Seems like a great little keyboard from what I can ascertain. Total 80’s soundscape. Reminds me of big hair and bright colors.
