# Akai AX-80

Akai, AX-80 @ 05 January 2010

ax80 “I am selling mine because I updated to a Yamaha EX7, and I no longer use it. This AKAI has been a good performer and has worked well, but she’s developed a few problems over the years:

1: You can see the broken key on the pictures. I considered “fixing” this by gluing on a popsicle stick, but there are key sets for this baby online for a few bucks. It’s an easy fix.

2: This Synth has picked up the “Bridge Connectors” problem, in that the pushbuttons work sporadically. This is user repairable, just check http://lp2.net/MainServices2.htm (I am not savvy enough to tackle this problem myself), plus you can cycle through the presets by pushing the “up-down” buttons.

3: As a byproduct, I’m assuming, of the bridge connector problem, some of the keys randomly don’t work. This clears out by changing the patch you’re in and then going back.

I know these analogue synths are getting hard to find. Heck, they’re almost thirty years old! But, repairs to make this baby shine like new should cost under a buck fifty to pay someone else to do it and a quarter that to do it yourself. I just don’t have the know-how to do it or the time.
