“this TR-808 was listed on ebay a couple months ago, no one bought it because it was sick. this was surprising, because i hear that this is one sick as hell drum machine.
it’s no longer sick. i took it to Midwest Music Menders of Chicago IL and paid him a sack of cash to make it well and i can say that it is now the un-sickest, un-illest 808 around.
the PSU has been recapped and fixed, the MIDI and transport are AOK, the noise source has been un-whacked, the maracas section has been rebuilt, and the entire machine has been calibrated.
as the previous auction stated all the output jacks are new, and the switch bank looks either new or very very very well taken care of.
the MIDI retrofit is the Kenton variety, and has been verified as AOK by Kenton UK themselves.
i will also include all service paperwork from Midwest Music Menders.
you may be able to find a prettier 808, but this thing is a monster workhorse which should be in it to win it for you.” Link
