# Roland SH-2000
“YOU ARE BIDDING ON A CLASSIC ROLAND SH-2000 SYNTHESIZER WITH THE “ILLEGAL” MOOG FILTER.
This one has several major benefits:
· MOOG FILTER – This SH-2000 is serial number 321602 and has the “illegal” Moog Filter – Highly Desirable and increasingly rare!!
· PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT – I have had the unit professionally rebuilt by Analogics – over $800 in updated parts, cleaning, and calibration (see receipt in pictures)
· ALL TABS THERE AND WORKING – All the voice selection tabs are there and work fine!
· PRETTY GOOD CONDITION – The unit is honestly in pretty good shape. But it isn’t perfect. There’s a little bit of chipping on the end caps, and the paint does show a little wear here and there – pretty much what you would expect on an instrument of this age.
Also, check the pictures out carefully – this is a decent shape unit, but is not in mint condition.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING
It’s true – It really is a beautiful sounding unit – I hate to part with it, and I have dumped a fair number of Benjamins into it, but I am not playing it and this really needs to be with someone that loves its sound and wants to make music – that means PLAYS IT!!!.
WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE? – There are some patches on this unit that remind me of an Arp ProSoloist. If that synth doesn’t ring any bells for you, it was used by Tony Banks of Genesis on songs like Skwonk, Dance on a Volcano, — everything on the Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering / Seconds Out Albums. Beautiful singing solo voices that sound great imitating orchestral oboes, trumpets, horns, voices, and whistles. The Moog filter makes these sounds beautifully.
And it’s not just prog rockers that used the SH-2000 — Synth Museum reports the following list of players: 808 State, Norman Cook (AKA Fatboy Slim, Mighty Dub Katz, Housemartins, Beats International etc.), Jimmy Destri of Blondie, Fillmore, Human League, Nick Magnus with Steve Hackett, Mike Oldfield, David Palmer of Jethro Tull, Eddie Spence with the Gordon Giltrap Band, Supergrass.
This unit has PRESET TABS – just like the Pro Soloist. But you can also change the sound as you play by changing the filter and sustain (also accessed through tabs on the far left).
Now obviously, it isn’t an Arp ProSoloist – but it isn’t going to cost what one would either. And the one thing that is certain – Roland’s reputation for quality far exceeded anything Arp ever did. It IS a good way to approximate that ProSoloist sound on a budget.” Link
