Character:not really sure how i can sum up the oberheim stuff .American sound ?brassy ? well i dont know , its a lovely synth whatever and fat when needed to be , super warm but can also be stark and fm like.Its has a mad mad mod section , 4 lfos and really can make freaky sounds.Its 6 voice poly but can be set up to be 6 mono synths ! Has 6 audio outs or mix out and full midi .It can also play in cycle mode where it cycles between sounds/patches ……super cool for sequential stuff.I would say the overall chartacter is ‘ smooth and a bit 80′s ? ‘ the presets i loaded in are like a bit of a miami vice moment which i love but it can also be really tangerine dream like , its definately not a machine you can replicate with any other synth , i had the andromeda , it cannot do xpander sounds and ive had the matrix 1000 and that cant sound like this either .I would say this synth is really well suited to experimental and ambient music or anthemic trance and it is in essence a fully modular synth and really powerfull on that level.I have found this one very reliable and stable and it is a sublime synth at times and one i think i will regret selling ! despite some reviews this can have snappy envelopes and can do some searing lead sounds or the most subtle pads and waves.Its sfx are totally alien……superb for sfx work.” Link
