# Moog MG-1

MG-1, Moog @ 16 August 2010

“Hello ebay people.

The time has come. My lovely MG-1 is up for sale. This is a beauty. I have had it for about 8 years. Used on recordings and a few gigs with my band Stuntdog.

Although it has the Realistic (Tandy/Radio Shack) name on it, this is a genuine Moog synth produced in the late 70’s & early 80’s by Moog Music for the Tandy corp to sell in stores as a ‘home synth’. It sits alongside the Moog Rogue and the Prodigy and has little features that make it an exceptional synth in its own right. The only thing missing in the design is a tone wheel/expression wheel/pitch bend, but after a short time you get used to using filter and rate sliders to much the same effect.

It has killer bass and lead sounds and a unique polyphonic organ tone for playing chords.

It is in very good condition. 2 slider caps have been replaced with similar ones but apart from that it is entirely original and in full working order.

The left and right phono outs on the back are a bit ‘dry’ and intermittent and would probably need looking at if you wanted to use them as the main output, but they do both work. I mostly use the quarter inch headphone socket on the front as the line out which works a treat.

I also have a copy of the original manual which I have bound up all posh!!” Link
