# Moog MG-1

MG-1, Moog @ 28 December 2009

332424488_tp “This Moog / Realistic Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer has treated me well for years. I removed and retained the RCA jack board and installed a 1/4″ output and a 1/4″ input that feeds an external audio source to the filter. The old jack board will be included with the purchase of the synth. I demonstrate the filter modification using an Epiphone Les Paul in the Youtube video embedded below. This feature really enhances the capability of the synth.

The synth works and sounds great. The only functional issue I ever encounter is that sometimes the power switch doesn’t engage. Almost without exception, it works when I switch it off and then on again. Some contact cleaner in the switch assembly would probably fix this but it never really bothered me, so I never did anything about it.

The only other issues with this synth are cosmetic and minor. Describing them makes the effects seem more significant than they really are. However, I will address and photograph them so there are no surprises upon delivery:

The slider caps and knobs are a little dinged up and some of the silver inserts have fallen out (the ends now painted silver).

There is one replacement slider currently on the cutoff. It offers a better grip than the originals (I don’t have the original cap).

The power cable’s outer sleeve has split where it connects to the chassis.

Apparently the right panel had fallen off in the past and was glued back on. White residue is visible along the interior edge (as photographed near the rear 1/4″ output jack).

There are also some scratches and dings overall, but nothing that compromises the synthesizer’s aesthetics in my opinion.

Those are all the issues with this otherwise wonderful instrument.” Link
