No reserve! Low Starting Price.

Condition:

Cosmetic: Good overall, no dings to the case. The biggest flaw is that there is a small chip in one of the keys (see photos) – doesn’t affect functionality. Two of the caps to the pots look like replacements as they have a red line on them rather than white on the others.

Functionality: All sliders switches and pots working as they should. Some pots and switches are a bit scratchy sometimes, so could do with a clean. One key isn’t working (bottom D). A few keys are double-triggering occasionally so again could do with a clean. Basically the synth will play fine as it is, but could do with a service to get it to A+++ functionality.” Link

“This is an original Yamaha DX-7 up for sale. Everything works great on this synth and I hate to part with it, but I no longer have the space to keep it.

When I picked up this keyboard the internal battery had since died which is a common problem for these now that they are approaching being 30 years old. When I replaced it I went ahead and soldered on a battery clip. You shouldn’t need to replace the internal battery for quite a while (currently the voltage reads 2.8 as you can see from one of the pictures below – 2.2 to 3 volts is the operational voltage range), but if you do need to replace it later then you can simply pop one in thanks to this mod.

This unit is serial number 124526. According to Yamaha (documented at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steve.sims/) there are issues with aftertouch on some DX7s with serial numbers between the ranges 1001-24880 and 25125-26005. This keyboard falls outside of that range and therefore has no issues. Furthermore I can attest that aftertouch has worked perfectly for me.

I have several pictures below detailing the external and internal condition as well as my battery mod which I mentioned. The only issue is an unfortunate chip and some scuffing with the plastic on the left side which I documented in detail.

Note that these keyboards are built like a tank and therefore are heavy (~23 pounds) so please pay attention to the shipping cost before you bid. ” Link

This is your chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of music history!!! This is THE Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 vintage analog synthesizer owned and used extensively in studio and touring by Paul Humphreys of OMD during the 1980′s. It has been used on many of OMD’s greatest hits. The memory patches are loaded with original sounds created by Paul and show the virtuosity of this synth pioneer. You will never see or hear another one like it!

This synth was acquired directly from Paul Humphreys’ ex-wife at the Southern California home where he lived and worked during the 1980′s. It is version 3.2 and has recently been restored to perfect working condition by Audio Rehab, a top vintage synth repair shop in L.A. Cosmetically, it shows the wear you would expect from a work horse of the 80′s OMD sound.” Link

These units were the second product ever produced by Sequential Circuits with very few units being built. It uses pre- Z80 micro processor technology. This unit has been tested and is in good working condition. The only issue is the led’s for the selector switches 1-16 do not illuminate, though all switches and seqencer functions are working as they should. All other led’s, switches, buttons, potentiometers, CV/GATE, as well as the alpha numeric display are working as they should. Cosmetically there are scratches to the case and face panel to mention. Footswich is not included. A photo copy of the original manual will be included. A wonderful and rare digital sequencer for use with Sequential/Oberheim/Moog/Arp/and other CV GATE synthesizer/s.” Link

“This Sequential Circuits Prophet T8 is in good condition and works perfectly. It was fully checked out by Wine Country in June of 2011, and has been in its road case since.

The wooden sides and front show some wear, and it is missing BOTH logo decals on the front. The metal top, back, and faceplate are in good shape, with only minor wear.

It includes an aluminum road case and the complete original manual.

Obviously, this is a vintage unit, heavy and fragile, and should only be considered by someone well-versed in the care and feeding of similar synths. I will work closely with any serious buyer to insure that you know exactly what you are getting. More photos and/or videos available upon request.

This is the third and last T8 I have had for sale – the other two sold for $4K+ over the last two years. For those that might care, these three T8′s were all owned by Eddie Jobson, who tweaked the keybeds for playability, but only used them (as MIDI controllers) for one concert in NYC in 2009.

I will ship just about anywhere (despite the “local pickup only” indication on the listing).” Link

It also has new trigger pads and the resonance mod. This mod allows you control resonance with the “pan” knob an it can be sequenced as well. This unit is fully functional and in great shape. The only thing that could make it better is if the backlight was replaced, but it is still readable as is, just dim.

It has an operational problem, which is that it only toggles up to step 6, so regrettably we are selling it as is. I do not know how to fix this, it may be something as simple as a microprocessor issue as these are built very sturdily. Or, if you already own one of these, this might be a fine source for spare parts. It may have other operational issues as well but I don’t know since I wasn’t able to resolve the first one. In VG cosmetic shape as depicted with light scratches top bottom front back sides; comes with .pdf of manual; no footswitch.” Link

Over the years, it’s acquired some dings but cosmetically is still in quite good condition considering its age. One of the push buttons has a small chip on the edge and there are some scratches on the top of the unit and on the side panels; otherwise, though, it’s still in attractive condition. The tantalum caps were replaced in 2001 at which point I also refitted the unit with new slider caps. All push buttons are fully functional except the Staccato button which no longer lights 100% of the time. Most of the sliders still move freely, though there are several that require more force when sliding them through their full range. All synth functions (ADSR, LFO, VCF, etc.) operate perfectly. The string section (those beautiful, cosmic ARP strings!) also is in perfect working order. The G2 key is inoperative and does not sound. Several other keys (particularly C3 and C4) sound intermittedly when played individually; however, when played chordally all keys play perfectly (except, again, the G3). I suspect this is due to the keyboard pad which has never been replaced and has weathered over 30 years of usage. The unit also comes with the original power cord (not pictured). The unit was thoroughly cleaned and underwent routine maintenance 3 years ago at New York’s Analog Lab.” Link

Awesome monophonic synth -in decent shape. After much debate I’ve decided to let go of some old pieces. This one has served me well and it’s time to let someone else enjoy here. All the keys sound- One LFO slider reverts to the fastest setting, when you press on the slider it changes to whatever setting the slider is at and the sample and hold works intermittently- probably just needs a simple cleaning. Over the years some of the graphics have worn off and the slider caps are long gone but you can easily find the replacement slider caps for about $16. This is a vintage analog synth as is sold as is, all sales final, due to it’s age and nature.” Link

These units are very hard to come by,rare, and much sought after. Overall in good condition cosmetically with all the knobs and color plastics on it. No broken or cracked keys on this unit. The power cord has been re-done on it and made a little longer with an extension, but it still works fine and powers up.” Link

Condition:
- All keys work well
- All lights on top panel work
- Power switch light does not work
- Power cord is pulled out a little (see picture 9)
- All sliders (6) are stiff
- Missing one switch cap
- Bottom wood edges are chipped on front and back
- I cannot hear Brass sound when combined with Piano sound but the Vibrato effects section modifies Piano sound. This maybe the way it’s supposed to work. I don’t know. All other combinations work.
- Some scuffs and marks

Features:
- Full 49-key polyphonic
- You can layer sounds on each other by pressing one or more sound button (Brass, Strings, Organ, Piano) for very Moog-like sounds
- Each section has separate controls
- Tuning pot is convienently located on top to right of keyboard
- Original(?) folding brackets are attached to bottom to give it a steeper angle when placed on a flat surface” Link

“You’re looking at a very rare racked Oberheim 8 Voice with midi interface. Here’s what is included:

8 X Oberheim SEMS
1 X Oberheim 8 Voice Programmer
1 X Keyboard module (w/ portamento etc)
2 X Output modules (8 channels of discrete mixing)
Rack power supply (please note that this unit is set up for European power – but can be used with a converter in the US)
Custom Midi to CV interface
All build into a road case (case included)

Some of the modules are in front of the rack and 2 SEMS plus keyboard module and power supply are racked in back of the rack.

I listed this as “non-working” only to set expectations lower so you know that if you buy it there will be some work required. How much work is unknown though. While it is being sold AS IS with no returns, I can tell you a couple things that will give you confidence in buying it. There’s nothing known to be actually wrong with it. In fact, I believe all of the SEMS function just fine. I have a binder with all the information on how to connect it all up plus all sorts of details. I just don’t have the time to get into it. If I do have my tech go through the whole thing, fix anything if he finds a problem (which is easy by the way because SEMS are all discrete! no rare chips or anything) then I’ll either keep it or relist it at a higher price. This is a chance to get it for thousands less and take a small risk on what it would take to get it 100%.

I also don’t mind keeping this either as SEMS are some of the best sounding analog synths ever made. The filter is incredible! To have 8 of these racked plus the other modules of an 8 voice is really powerful. It doesn’t have all the patch points brought out but that’s not hard to do for a tech, just a bit time consuming. I do have a few extras I can throw in though like a mini jack patchbay with tons of cables connected to it and an Oberheim pitch and modwheel module that supposedly works with this 8 voice. It’s the levers like later Oberheims. I have no idea if that works though. But if you buy this you can have it plus a few other things depending on what it ends up going for. ” Link
