“This is a Yamaha TX7 Synthesizer desktop module form of Yamaha’s DX-7 FM synthesizer.I have powered it on as you can see on the LCD in the picture but no further testing has been done. Since I don’t have a way to test it any further here I am listing it for parts or not working. There are 32 patches for storing any sounds as on the DX-7. I have been told you could collect patches from the internet to expand your library of sounds. Purchasing this TX-7 could be an affordable way to get your hands on original DX-7 sounds.” Link

“Used and in working condition. Great way to have all the sounds of a DX7 in a tiny module. There are tons of patches on the net that you can download and load onto this unit. MIDI in/out/thru. Output and headphones out. Cassette port.
All buttons are working. Cosmetically it looks great: no major gouges, just light scuffs on the plastic.” Link

“YAMAHA TX 7 – FM EXPANDER / TONE GENERATOR

Link

“Yamaha TX-7 Sound module that will not power up — for parts or repair(?)

This is the rack version of the famed DX-7.

I hadn’t used it in many months, and when I tried turning it on, there was no sign of life.

I changed the small internal battery and the unit turned on okay, showing the patch name in the graphic display, but faded out in about 15 seconds. I assume this means the power supply has died and it was running off the battery until the battery was fully drained.

Unit history: Bought around 1986, used in a live stage show for several years, then in a recording studio for many years, then in my small home set-up for the last 10 years or so. When it was working, all features and display were functioning perfectly.

Has a scuffed-up exterior with some tape residue and grease-pencil markings (see pictures).

Buy at your own risk, for parts or repair. No guarantee as to the extent of the repairs, or if it can be repaired.

Sale is final, no returns.” Link

“Vintage – Legacy Yamaha TX7 Tone Generator FM Expander Synth Module. Comes with Manual. In good condition. Same sounds as Classic Yamaha’s famous DX7 Keyboard.

I’m no expert with electronic musical equipment, but it seems to be functioning properly. I have no way of fully testing it, however, it powers on. Item is carefully packed and insured. ” Link

Link

“Up for auction today is a Yamaha TX-7. This is a wonderful digital synthesizer with the same synth engine as the DX7. With so many great sounds available, this is a powerful unit to have in your arsenal. This synth is in excellent condition (although there are some minor marks as one would expect with an instrument as old as this) and the buttons, screen, and output work exactly as they should. It comes complete with a photocopied (and bound) original owners manual. ” Link

“OK Let’s be honest here, this particular example is a little rough around the edges. It does have quite a few scratches, dings and marks but it is in full working order and represents a fantastic money AND space saving way to get that genuine classic 80′s DX7 FM sound into your set-up.

The one compromise is that as the front panel of this unit is quite basic compared to the full keyoard version of the DX7, so you will need a PC or MAC DX7 editor/Librarian application to program the unit, or if you want to take advantage of the 1000s of free DX7 sounds available online, but I will include a CD containing loads of patches and editor/librarians to get you going. ” Link

The TX7 is a “tabletop” rack-sized module version of the classic DX7 synthesizer. It can load all DX7 patches and perform all the functions of the original DX7 via MIDI.
The one that you are bidding on comes with a custom patch bank already loaded which includes Moot Booxlé’s unique dynamic-sensitive Talkbox tone. It is essentially a richer-sounding version of Roger Troutman’s famous DX100 tone, with velocity sensitivity added for an unprecedented level of expressiveness. It will also include several other classic sounds compiled from my extensive collection of DX7 patch banks to form a musically useful range of sounds.

More information can be found about the talkbox patch here: http://mootbooxle.com/talkbox.html

This unit has just a few light scratches, but is in very good cosmetic condition overall. It is in 100% working condition. ” Link

NI FM7 & FM8 are absolutely great, but this is the real deal and sounds amazing. The weight of the bass and overall tone from this is amazing. More info at http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/tx7.php

You will need a software editor (readily available), a DX7 or a Beetle PR7 (I actually used to have one of these!) to tweak sounds. However, there are literally thousands of sounds on the web via SYSEX format that can be loaded onto the unit via midi to keep things fresh.” Link

This is a cool older SOUND MODULE from the 80′s…a classic in the sense that so many had them and yet not this decent of condition.
