“This is a Yamaha TX81Z rack mountable FM synth module from the late 80′s.
It’s in good shape, the front panel is clean, it has some minor rack-rash on the top
& bottom but is fully functional with no issues,
It still has the original slide-out programming reference (see picture) and sounds great. I’ll also include
a print-out of the manual. This synth is considered a low-cost “secret weapon” of sorts because of it’s
programmability and the range of sounds it can produce. The real power is in programming your own sounds,
but there are plenty of presets too.” Link
“In great working condition.” Link
“This used vintage equipment was purchased at an estate sale and shows signs of use. Since I know little to nothing about such things and it is virtually untested, I must therefore sell for parts or repair because frankly I just don’t know. However as you can see is in beautiful condition so my loss is your gain.” Link
”

It is in good physical condition with some scratches, which do not affect functioning. It also has two 1-1/2- 2″ long wood pieces attached to the bottom as shown in pictures.
Includes tone generator only; no cables or any other accessories.” Link
“Was kann man über den TX81Z sagen was noch nicht über ihn, oder besser gesagt seine Keyboardvariante (DX7II), gesagt wurde?
Für diejenigen die es evtl. noch nicht selbst ergoogelt haben:
Der TX81Z ist die Rackversion des Yamaha DX7 (12bit) Nachfolgers, dem DX7II (16bit).” Link

“I aquired this vintage Yamaha unit along with several other Yamaha components from an estate sale. I am selling all the units separately here on ebay so check out my other auctions and you can see everything. I can save you on shipping by combining if you win the bid for more than one unit.
Since I am not an expert with really any of this equipment the only testing I did was plug in each unit and make sure it came up. It does has a nice clear display and changes modes so it appears to be working.
The manual is included which most folks selling these do not have. From what I have read this is like a keyless Yamaha DX100 or DX21 so pretty cool. ” Link
“This unit is in amazing shape for its age. the only visible wear is a bent rack ear, which is clearly shown in the photo.” Link
“Has 2 labels on left side from the rack it was in (as pictured). Tried it out with my Edirol & it works great.” Link

“Yamaha TX-81Z MIDI tone generator. MIDI in/out/thru jacks, two outputs, and an attached power cord on the back panel; plenty of buttons for programming on the front panel, as well as an LED display. Works, but sold as-is due to age.” Link
“Up for auction is a classic Yamaha TX-81Z digital FM synthesizer. This is basically a DX-7 FM synthesizer in a 1U rack enclosure. The differences are just that there is no built-in keyboard, and you have to program patches using a slightly more arduous front panel interface. Includes the synthesizer itself (with power cord attached) and a worn copy of the user manual. This TX-81Z is in very good condition and works great.” Link
“Hello!
I have here the 4 OP Yamaha TX81Z! It’s a very good frequency modulation synthesizer rackmount.
Unfortunately, for some reason, I can’t get any sound to come out of it. It powers up fine, and operates fine, but sound is nowhere to be found.” Link
“This auction is for a used YAMAHA TX81Z FM Tone Generator Rack Mount Synthesizer.
The Rack Ears show much wear, and the case shows a lot of handling. The AC Power Cord was shortened and spliced back together to cut down on excess cable in the rack.
There are MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU Jacks, as well as a Cassette Interface Jack for sound storage and loading. The Cable is not included.
There are Back Panel I/MIX and II Output Jacks and a Front Panel Headphone Jack. The Manual is included.
The unit was demonstrated last week and worked perfectly.” Link
“Contains the following “Talkbox” patches:
FMSAW ZAPP
HARDB ZAPP
MrBadAssss, MrBadAss2, MrBadAss3, MrBadAss4, MrBadAssV8
MonoSloppy
MoBuzz2The
RoboRodgr1, 2, 3, 4
And more (Of course, your skills make the sound as much as the patch does!)
Vintage equipment, one rack ear bent” Link
“For sale is a rack-mount Yamaha TX81Z FM tone generator Synthesizer in factory condition. This is a V1.1 revision. Every function is working, and the pullout operation guide slip, is in tact beneath the piece. The synth is in excellent condition all around. ” Link
“Description……..For sale is a very nice Yamaha TX81Z model Tone generator. This item was purchased from an estate sale from a retired musician. The item was told to be in good working order just that he hadn’t used it for a long time. When the unit powers up it reads the normal Yamaha info and then HELLO JIMMY…followed by the normal prompt. The unit was originally rack mounted but when he went to remove it from the rack, somehow the bolts that supported the rack were frozen??? He had no choice but to carefully cut-off the rack handles to remove the unit. I have added the pictures from both angles so you can see for yourself. At $85? still not bad considering these have sold for $99. ” Link
“This is a fully functional unit, it comes with the owner’s manuals and a Digital Music Services Editor/Librarian Pro manual!” Link

“Up for auction is a used Yamaha TX81z digital synthesizer. I hate to see this thing go, but my DX7 gets much more use. What I liked about the TX81z was you could create a patch with more than just sine waves, allowing you to have a more diverse sound palette, along with stacking and splitting the notes. Yes, this has Lately Bass on it, along with some custom patches by me.
Cosmetically, it has minimal “rack rash” and is in pretty good shape.” Link

“The Yamaha TX81z is in good condition, and work perfectly fine. Has a great 80′s sound, and really awesome bass patches, and pads. You can really create some killer sounds with this module – I’m sad to get rid of it, but I need to downsize my studio at this point.” Link

“For sale is a used yamaha tx81z. I am the second owner of this item which I bought as a teenager many years ago. It has since been in my studio in a smoke free environment. I used this for talkboxing on the rocktron banshee. It is tested as working (I’ll throw in midi cables) and still has the pull out card.” Link

“Here is a NO RESERVE auction for my LOT OF TWO (quantity 2) rack mount Yamaha TX81z synthesizer modules. This model is basically a key-less version of the Yamaha DX-11, features great FM type synth sounds similar to the DX-21 and DX-27. These tone generator units sound great, similar to the DX7 but better. The TX-81z gets a wider range of sounds than the DX-7. This item is in 100% working order — however, of course, I am selling it as is.
Now why would you want TWO? Well, aside from having a backup (always a good idea), you can program these units five or ten cents apart (think “harmonics”) in order to make some truly PHAT bass tones for your tracks. Read more at the wikipedia link below. ” Link
” Item in perfect condition except the left side in the corner it’s a bit bent, apart that everything works perfectly:” Link
” technisch und optisch ok” Link
“Nice sounding single rack space Yamaha TX81z. It’s the keyless version of the DX-11. 8 voice polyphony, 128 presets, 32 user. 4 operator digital FM.
It’s version 1.5.
I just never used it. It gave me too many toys to haul around and I just didnt need it. Works great.” Link
“Popular late 80′s synth sound module, in good cosmetic and working order.” Link
