The two faders need replacing although one can be moved just by hand.

“On offer is a fully operational DX9 synth, a little brother to the classic DX7 of the1980′s.
Let it be clear: the synth WORKS! All function keys, sound parameters and sliders work fine. This synth has a wonderful glassy, crystalline sound to it, great for electronic music.
To be specific there is a small crack on the Edit/Compare key but this does not affect performance at all. Also, one of the sliders is missing its plastic holder but this again does not affect performance or ability of operation as the slider can still be grasped.
Apart from that there are some minor wear marks that usually come with a synth of this age, but the most important thing I want to stress is, it works brilliantly!” Link
“The DX9 was launched at the same time as the legendary DX7 as a cheaper cut down version. The main differences are a non velocity sensitive keyboard, no cartridge slot for adding new sounds (sounds are saved and loaded by cassette – you can even load individual sounds this way) and only 20 memories instead of the 32 in the DX7. The sounds are made up of 4 operators instead of 6. This actually makes it easier and quicker to programme than the DX7, although still not easy. Sonically it sounds very similar and you really don’t miss those 2 operators. It excels at basses, percussive sounds, electric pianos, organs, solo wind instruments and bells. Not great at warm pads, synth sweeps and analogue sounds, although playing through a chorus pedal will help a lot. Round the back it has sockets for a mono output, a sustain pedal, volume, portamento, in, out and remote cassette sockets and the 3 MIDI sockets although as the DXs were among the first machines to bear them, the spec is very limited (no loading of sounds ver MIDI for instance)
Keyboards were built to last back in the mid 80s (and so they should for a £1000 at the time) and this one is made of metal and the original memory battery is still working. This one has been gigged and lent to people in the past so it is amazing that it still works well. The casing is virtually blemish free, the keys are still evenly spaced, the buttons all work, the sliders are still in place, the LCD (non backlit) and LED displays are still readable. It includes the original music stand and sound banks plus a couple of banks of my own (I wish I knew where the 1000s of other sounds I programmed over the years went). I cannot find the very convenient lead it came with for saving sounds to cassette but it is a farily standard lead. I also cannot find the original manual either, which may put people off as I doubt if this can been easily found on the internet. I stupidly put sticky labels on the keys for the last person I lent it to and they have proven difficult to remove. I’ll persist in getting them off for you. I’ve listened to it through headphiones and it plays OK but the odd note seems to double trigger or not play momentarily.. This may be dirt under the key contacts and may improve with regualr use but may be indicative of something more serious.” Link
