“I bought this fine instrument in 1980. It had one owner before, and the previous owner did not transport it. I briefly toured with it in a private tour that I cared for it myself, but the rest of the time it has been in my home studio, or in a pro Calzone road case. The road case has new foam inside, recently installed by Georgia Case Company. It has a remarkable quality preservation, especially the keyboard, and bank of controls, and the interior. There is a new/rebuilt power source, and also a new ribbon controller.
As far as I can tell, all of the functions, that control the sounds, i.e., portamento, glissando, filters, octave controls, etc., function correctly.
The instrument does need some work, and the facilities in Atlanta, were unequipped to fix the problems, due to the lack of knowledge and experience about the instrument. There are quite a few places in the USA that not only stock parts for this instrument, but are capable of totally fixing the unit to its original shape and function.
What doesn’t work:
The keyboard doesn’t correctly track the notes played, and will need competent calibration and tuning, and possibly extra parts replaced.
The ribbon controller is new, but it doesn’t function
The lowest key doesn’t sound at all
The sound settings all work except the Funky 3 setting which does not
There is no white noise functioning that I can tell
The after touch doesn’t work
All of the top bank, and preset functions work, except what I mentioned above
The cover, and sides of the unit are quite good cosmetically, although they have a few dings.
The bottom of the instrument has some dings on the vinyl, but is not real bad, for its age—only one place about a 3 inch square area is scuffed down to the wood. Most all of the scuffs are on the vinyl covering the instrument, and are small. There is one place on the back of the instrument brown wood area, that is scuffed.
The stand has been painted black but it works well. One of the attached screw handles is gone, but replaced by a bolt and washers.
All of these non-functioning items are fixable by a competent lab. I have adjusted the price to reflect the extra work needed.
Absolutely no returns, you are accepting it as an as is item, fully knowing that it needs work.” Link
