“Fully functional with original stand. Very nice condition.Tolex is all original and in very good condition .There are several abrasion marks at the very back top/side of the lid and lower case which were touched up to help blend in with the gloss level of the tolex but over all , nice shape with no tears or gouges. Inside of case top(felt) is in nice condition as well.Only one known “possible” issue electronically- the bottom jack for the headphone output The headphone only works on one channel , the right side.. I don’t know if this is because there is a loose wire inside or if my headphone 1/4 ” plug is balanced and the headphone jack is unbalanced. I just don’t know.” Link

This synth is from 1977 .In any event, if it also doesn’t work with the buyers headphones, I will credit $150 to the buyer to correct it. That is the quote I received to fix itassuming it is an output issue and not a headphone issue!” Link

“Up for auction is a Yamaha Cs 60 Vintage Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer Keyboard. This synthesizer is in great condition, has been calibrated, and is fully in tune. You can get some pretty wild sounds out of this thing, great soft tones, and a filter with some great bite to it. All the presets work and the pitch ribbon works great too! The portamento and the sustain work great as well. Every single key works on this synthesizer and it has a new power supply. There are no scratches or scuffs on the front panel. It has a some dings and scratches on the bottom of the synth but it doesn’t affect the monster sound of this synthesizer at all. Also, it does not come with the original stand. It does come with the cover of it but only one of the two latches works. This auction is “As is.”" Link

“Up for sale is my Yamaha CS 60. This auction includes the original yamaha CS 60 carrying case and legs. The synth could certainly use a fix up by a tech (there is one that is located close to my house): the ribbon works but has a crimp in it which causes it to be stuck at one starting point. Additionally the voices could use a tune up. Besides that, it’s all there and everything works on it including the old school memory.” Link

“Selling my CS-60. The synth was just serviced by my very experienced tech Ramcur. (Look him up if you want to see his credentials.)
Everything is working 100%
Cosmetically the synth itself is 9 on 10. (Only the tolex is slightly ripped 7/10) contact me if you would like to see more detailed and specific pictures.
This one has the Kenton Midi kit installed.
Comes complete with legs and carrying case.” Link

“About this Yamaha CS60

Overall, the synth is in outstanding original working condition.

The synth was recently given a pre-sale professional service, which corrected a couple of crackly pots.

The tuning is rock sold, pretty much from the warm up.

Cosmetic condition is near mint. Front panel is clean and scratch free. The velvet ribbon controller is free of wear. Wooden veneer wraparound panels are 99% mark free. Back panel is near spotless. The chromework is as bright as the day it was made. The top part of the case has a few marks, but is also in great condition.

All knobs, buttons, switches and sliders are present, original and function correctly.

All keys are clean and aligned and contact correctly.

This is a 100v model so includes a step down transformer.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Yamaha CS 60 synthesiser. Classic vintage late 70′s model with the sounds muched loved by Air, Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis.

61 keys, eight note poly, 12 presets, one oscillator per voice plus PWM and sub osc, VCF, VCA and ADSR plus memory panel. Noise and ring modulation. Ribbon strip for glissando and portamento..

Used but pretty good condition. Recent check up by specialist synth company servicers. There are a few minor scuffs on the edge of the casing but no dents or tears. Keyboard and control panel are as new. Unfortunetely I do not have the tubular legs for the synth as it was used on a custom stand and the original legs have been mislaid.” Auction ended. “Yamaha CS 60

Has a Fault in which 3 out of the 8 notes ( polyphony wise ) don’t trigger a sound on the vcf or vca, but still do on the vco. So it sounds like it cuts out every 6th 7th and 8th note. No matter what key you are playing on at the time,,, the keys are all mechanically good.

Reason i havn’t had it repaired is that it still plays well as a 5 note polyphonic synth ( rather than the full 8 ).

I just keep the three notes that dont sound, held down with something, usually a little paperweight on the bottom three notes of the keyboard. Then it plays seamlessly through the remaining five notes. I will be happy to show whoever wins how to do this.

I suppose if you wanted to get it repaired then a few hundred quid and you’d have a full 8 note polyphonic machine….

Also 3 of the slider plastic tops are not there as you will see in the pic ( top left of the panel , to the right of the memory flap ), still easy enough to move without them. Though easily replacable.

2 of the keys have small marks on them but not noticable when playing on them.

Anyway, Everything else on the synth is fully working, all knobs, sliders, buttons, memory, keys, no crackles or pops when moving any of the sliders etc…

It’s an amazing synth, i’ve used it in the house to record loads in the past, but i’ve had enough of the synthy type sounds…. i want a Fender Rhodes now instead ; )

It has the top part of the case as well, the black tolex on the top part has marks on it here and there, but isn’t ripped. The bottom ( underside of the synth ) is fine.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“I am the second owner. I bought it from a friend who hadn’t played it in years. I tuned it up at the time of purchase but since then it has drifted a bit a bit but this is a later model serial number so it should be stable once calibrated.
The CS-60 is a scaled down light version of the CS-80. The CS-60 is the cheapest way to get into some genuine CS-80 sounds of analog heaven with basic entry-level programming! It has been used by Air, Jean-Michel Jarre, Oshe and Bob Marley and The Wailers.

It’s a classic and old polyphonic programmable analog synthesizer, sliders, edit parameters and even an excellent Ring Modulator to get some interesting pads, drones, basses and other analog synth sounds. Sitting between the keyboard and those large Preset Switches is a long velvet ribbon controller which is pretty cool for doing wild pitch bends. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“By clicking on this listing you probably know what this hard to find synthesizer is. It is even more rare to find one in as nice of condition as this one is in and fully functional. I have posted many pictures as they will tell the story of the super nice condition of not only the syntesizer but the case and even has the sheet music holder. I just got it back from an authorized Yamaha service dealer where I took it just to have them give it the once over to make sure it had no problems and got it back with a clean bill of health.

This one has been very well cared for and sounds unbelievable. You don’t see these much anymore and you certainly won’t find one in any better condition. Take a look at the pictures for the details. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Here we have a very cool and rare Yamaha CS-60 synthesizer. This synth is in great condition. All the keys, knobs and buttons work. All the functions are working and the synth sounds great. Last year the synth is completely serviced and tuned. It comes with its original stand (legs), music stand, case (lid) and sustain pedal.

There is lots of information on the internet about the exact specification, but the CS-60 essentially is an 8-voice polyphonic synth with probably the finest ring modulator available and one programmable preset via little version of the sliders under a small cover on the top left. It has after-touch (routed to vibrato, brilliance etc.) and the wonderful ribbon controller also featured on the larger CS-80 which is very cool to work with! It is a real ‘players’ synth and capable of some extra-ordinary sounds. This is one of the big-league poly-synths and provides about 50% of the functions of the much larger and heavier CS-80 (at a lot less than half of the price of the CS-80!).” Auction ended. “Here we have my cherished Yamaha CS-60. Supposedly half a Yamaha CS-80, but in fact, more fun. If you’re a serious watcher, you’ll already know what it is and what it does. From a subjective viewpoint, this is more an instrument in its own right than merely a synth – as is a Hammond, a Fender Rhodes, or a Clavinet. Sit down at it, and you’ll play it for hours. It’s the spacey-est synth I’ve ever played. The more you play it, the more you get out o it. It’s velocity sensitive with aftertouch (in the 70′s!!!!). It has a genuine almost living/breathing character of its own. I love it to bits, and really don’t want to sell it, but such is life. One day I’ll buy another. Or if my ship comes in, a CS-80.

Mine is a US machine, but will include a 110/240v transformer. It has been thoroughly serviced by Ron Lebar at AlphaEntek/Hammond Hire Company, and they will check it over again, and ensure it is fully functional and sounding sweet before it moves in with its new keeper.

The job-spec for the work done on it is as follows:

“Interior cleaned, key contacts cleaned, controls cleaned, printed boards
cleaned. Mess, caused by drink spillage, removed from boards, contacts
and keyboard. Adjusted, tuned and scaled. Final soak and functional tests.”

It didn’t need much doing to it, having been well looked after, but if I ever find out who spilled a drink on it…

Photos are of the actual instrument and are courtesy of the Hammond Hire Company. The synth is currently stored in Coventry, UK. I’d prefer collection, but shipping can be arranged at the buyer’s expense – I shipped this over from Colorado, very economically, and with no trauma either to instrument or new owner!” Auction ended. “Here is my gorgeous Yamaha CS-60 polyphonic synthesiser made is the late 1970s. I’m selling as I need some cash for other things.

This CS-60 is in pristine condition. It really is beautiful and is not far from near-mint condition. The only cosmetic flaw is a very small chip out of the left-hand end-block but otherwise is in exceptional condition (you will not find a better one!): all the lettering, sliders, knobs, keys, and ribbon controller are in perfect condition! After the right amount of time for the oscillators to warm up (c. 20-30 minutes) the tuning is good and pretty stable (for a CS!).

This comes with the lid and original music stand which locks inside the lid. I even have an original CS-50/CS-60 owners’ manual which is a little worn but perfectly legible throughout. The power is 110V but not a problem for the UK as I will provide the correct step-down transformer.

There is lots of information on the internet about the exact specification but the CS-60 essentially is an 8-voice polyphonic synth with probably the finest ring modulator available and one programmable preset via little version of the sliders under a small cover on the top left. cs60 “if you are looking at this then you know what it is. This unit is in pristine condition. it comes complete with the original legs which still mount tight on the underside of the case. The original sustain and expression pedal work great as well. There are no scratches or dents of any kind on it. The case has a few scuffs but no rips. The hardware has no rust or oxidation of any kind and the clasps are tight. On the underside of the lid is the original music stand that mounts onto the back of the top part of the keyboard. All of the sliders, knobs and switches work like new. Seriously, it’s as if this thing was in a museum. The power cable has absolutely no cracks or even any wear marks. The housing door for the cable latches and there are no loose screws or nuts on the 1/4” inputs and outputs.
The unit did not power on when I got it so my tech and I opened it up and found the inside to be absolutely incredible. there is no dust or anything. The problem we found was that one of the three fuses had blown. We looked up and found the original baggy with the factory instructions and two spare fuses. We took one, put it in and now it works beautifully. All the keys are responsive and all the sliders and knobs work. The keyboard itself could use a good tuning.

I have tried to put as many useful pictures as I could of the inside and out. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Now for the answer to the question everyone is going to ask……………….” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

The CS-60 is a very scaled down light version of the CS-80. It’s a classic and old polyphonic programmable analog synthesizer that has some potential. It does sound 90% as great as the CS-80. You get a few preset sounds which are pretty useless and one user patch. But there are just enough sliders, edit parameters and even an excellent Ring Modulator to get some interesting pads, drones, basses and other analog synth sounds. Oddly, sitting between the keyboard and those large Preset Switches is a long velvet ribbon controller which is pretty cool for doing wild pitch bends.

Due to its old age most CS-60s are in battered shape these days, difficult to service but in need of some. And they suffer common ailments of the analog domain – overheating, unstable tuning, it weighs a lot, etc… However the CS-60 is the cheapest way to get into some genuine CS-80 sounds of analog heaven with basic entry-level programming! Very good condition
Including a copy of the owners manual, lid and a new 220V transformer” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay. cs_60_1

“First it’s the one on top. In VG cosmetic condition with some scratches to tolex on sides and bottom. Front panel cosmetics excellent. No lid or “music stand” attachment. Slight nick about 1/4″ in diameter above middle E. We have owned it for about 20 years and it has been used on many records. The only reason why we are selling is we no longer have room for some of our larger synths, and this one certainly qualifies in that department. Recently serviced by Advanced Musical Electronics, a leading Los Angeles repair shop. Local pick-up only, this weighs a TON and would be impossible to ship without crating it, we lack the facilities to do so.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
