“I bought this on a whim from 30th st guitar shop in NY, although it is super cool I am not a huge synth geek. It is a little scuffed up but and one button sticks, other than that it seems to be fully functional. I find it hard to dial cool sounds on the synth side of it but the presets all sound totally cool. It does track pretty good on guitar but you can only play one note at a time. ” Link
“Korg X-911 Guitar Synth. Compatible with Korg MS20, MS10, MS50 and SQ10
This guitar synth from Korg – circa 1981 – is in full working order.
It’s pretty versatile and a lot of fun.” Link
“Up for auction is my Korg X-911 guitar synthesizer. These are getting hard to find and are very unique synthesizer effects boxes. It is all analog and sounds like it! Features include Trigger in/out, CV in/out, VCF in, and even FM in! There is a direct output as well as an effect out, and variable footswitch options for portamento, and interval! There’s even an effect on/off quarter inch in, and a hold function. These things are SO cool.
Condition:
The item is obviously used, but is in PERFECT working order. I just had it calibrated by a professional and everything works exactly as it should. The ‘flute’ voice button does not spring up like the rest of the voicing selector switches, but functions perfectly. My guess is that there’s a tiny spring mechanism inside that has broken, but the switch does not stay on or off or anything like that. Again…this 911 is functionally perfect.
Cosmetically the face has its fair share of nicks and scrapes. The power chord is not original, but works wonderfully and is a grounded plug.” Link

Vintage Korg X-911 analog guitar synthesizer. Same series as the Korg MS-20 etc.
This example is in 100% original and in good condition!!!
All slidercaps etc in place..Looks great for its age only minor signs of useage.
It sounds really nice, distortion in this unit is really cool.
Great to double or phat up any other MS series synth.
Rapidly becoming impossible to find.
Pictures are of actual item. Feel free to ask any questions.
This Mini Korg has been tested by specialist prior to sale.” Link
Link
” You are looking at a vintage Korg x-911 analog guitar synth. It is from the same era as the revered MS-20 and family, same filter and oscillator design. It can be controlled from a guitar in a pitch to voltage mode or from external CV and triggers. This one includes the original plastic overlay, shown in one of the pictures. It has some scratchy pots, but overall is in very good shape considering it’s age. Because of it’s age, it’s being sold as is.” Link

“Cosmetic: All photos are of the unit in this auction. This Korg Guitar synth is in good cosmetic condition, with just the odd small nick here and there with, perhaps, the most noticeable mark, when the light catches it, being a scratched identification number (made by the previous owner) on the rear front panel above the filter knob. It doesn’t detract though from a generally clean appearance. All top panel legending is clear and unfaded. Build quality is very solid.
During my years of ownership this has not been gigged and has been well looked after in a smoke free personal studio.
The manual is in very good condition with no tears or scribbles. Lots of useful and clarifying info. For example, suitable input dB level switch settings guidance for various instrument inputs.
Functional: Fully working. The Unit has been given a final test before this listing in a number of operational modes and works properly to spec with clean output sound, smooth potentiometer and switching action with all LED indicators functioning. There are no intermittences. I’ve tested it with my Korg MS-10 in both ‘guitar synthesiser’ mode (i.e. in this instance having it tracking cleanly from a synth audio output signal) and in CV/Trig synth expander mode (see photos)
This works at 240V.” Link
I’m selling a Korg X-911 analog guitar synthesizer with power cord. No additional cables or manuals are included.
Condition
This unit is clean and has been tested. The pots are smooth but generate a small amount of static if not used for several weeks. Once they have been turned several times they become quiet. There are noticeable signs of use. The screws that hold the case together have mild rusting/oxidation and one side’s plastic end piece has mild discoloration, apparently from some kind of case or storage material. All of the flaws are subjectively minor, but I disclose them so you can take that into consideration. All in all, it’s a nice, used example.” Link

“Sie bieten auf einen Korg “Guitar Synthesizer” X-911.
Ursprünglich als Gitarren-Synthie gedacht, lässt sich aber mit jedem beliebigen Signal (z.B. Drumloops) benutzen.
Ansonsten funktioniert alles einwandfrei. ” Link

“The Korg X-911 is a very unique piece of equipment. Made in the mid eighties. It was intended to be a stand alone guitar synthesizer. What it now represents, in these enlightened times, is an all analog, signal processor/effects unit. Whereas a true guitar synth requires its own dedicated pickup arrangement, this unit simply accepts a standard 1/4″ jack input. Just patch your guitar, microphone, or other instrument into the X-911 and play one note at a time.
The front panel is divided into semi-preset traditional sounds, called “Instrument”, and more adventurous sounds with the called “Synthe”. The Instrument sounds are named Electric Bass, Tuba, Trumpet, Dist. Guitar, Violin and Flute. The Synthe sounds are designated as graphical waveform icons (Pulse, Ramp, Square). Every voicing has adjustable parameters.
The two sections may be overlaid or used separately, with control via the central balance slider
I do not have the foot switches.” Link
“The Korg X-911 guitar synthesizer is one of the fattest guitar synths ever produced and is very similar to other 70s made Korgs of the same “family” such as the MS-10 and MS-20 !! Works perfectly, no issues whatsoever. Selling as I need some cash and I don’t use it much.” Link
Link

“Up for auction is my Korg X-911 analog guitar fx processor. Get some true analog goodness from your guitar or patch in another synth for a beefed up extra oscillator and Korg’s legendary tone & filters.
The item is in fine cosmetic condition, except for one missing knob cap (still works great). Functionally, it works as it should in the synth mode- all “presets” and synth options are fine. However, when selecting the source to be filtered at the VCF section, the dry guitar signal and distortion section are not working. it could be as simple as a malfunctioning switch, but i’m not sure. I’ve only wanted to use it for the synth tones, so it was never a problem for me. In any case, this is an as-is auction. ” Link

CONDITION
KORG X-911 is in 100% perfect working condition and in good condition .
This unit was professionally checked/serviced/cleaned.
there are some small scratches on it.
This item is 100v 50/60hz. you may need a power converter depending on your country. ” Link
“this is the real deal, was planning on breaking it out in a modular stylee. This sounds great and it it’s usually the most affordable way to get the vinatage Korg sound. This is in very good condtion, functionally 100 % no issues.” Link
“You are bidding for an old skool 1980′s analogue guitar synth. This is for use with guitar or bass or indeed anything with a mic or line out. You can use it on vocals for vocoder / ring modulator type effects. You can even use it on a drum kit, if you like pushing the boundaries of taste. You don’t need any special attachments, just plug in and start making odd noises.
It tracks monophonic input, so you can use it for guitar solos, bass lines or vocals etc without any problems. If you play a chord through it you get some weird random outputs. Play the same chord again and get a totally different output! You can use it to drive other kit via the trigger and CV outs, or you can drive it from another synth with the various control inputs. There are also foot switch inputs (all on 1/4″ jack) on the front so you can control it whilst playing.
In the instrument section you can stack multiple sounds and you can blend them with the synth section or just use one side or the other. There is a fat distortion built in as well as a “distortion guitar” instrument. The instruments are labelled “electric bass”, “tuba”, “trumpet”, “distortion guitar”, “violin” and “flute” and provide some unique sounds, which can be stacked and tweaked to your taste. In the synth section you can play with attack and decay for various modules and stack them as well. The VCF gives that acid stylee resonant sweep.
The unit is the one pictured. There are some scratches and light scuffs on the panel. Some of the pots are a bit dusty and so noisy when you turn them, but a quick squirt of electrical pot cleaner, available from any good electronics store such as Maplins, will solve that. I have not tested the CV ins and outs, as I don’t have anything suitable to drive it from.” Link
“KORG X911 DIFFICULT TO SEE IN THIS CONDITIONS, THIS ONE HAS A GREAT TRACKING, PITCH TO CV, GREAT WITH A KORG MS-04 PEDAL. ONLY THE PITCH TO CV CONVERTER COST AROUND 250E, YOU CAN CONTROL OTHER SYNTH WITH CV – HZ/V.
I SELL BECAUSE I BOUGHT A KORG MONOPOLY BUT I FELL PITY FOR LET IT GO. YOU DON’T BELIEVE THE SOUNDS YOU CAN TAKE OUT OF THIS THING, I WONDERED WHEN I PLAYED MUTING STRING, BEND, SLUR OR VIBRATO, THIS SYNTH HAVE A GREAT RESPONSE PLAYING IN MONOPHONIC WAY, INCREDIBLE FOR BASS, A PIECE OF SOUND OF KORG MS-20 WITH ITS FILTER.
WORKS PERFECT WITH MONOPHONICS INSTRUMENTS” Link
“Here is a great vintage synth up for bidding. This Korg X-911 Guitar Synth has had one owner and is in wonderful shape. I’ve not heard any noise in the pots, all the knobs and faders move nicely as they should and it sounds great in all settings. It’s really in wonderful condition. This one has the pedal that originally came with it (I’ve not seen these with any other for sale). There are only minor surface scratches around the edges. Although it was made to be a guitar synth, it can be used on vocals, drums etc or as an effects processor. A really cool piece of vintage gear.” Link
“Up for bid is a Korg X-911 Guitar Synthesizer. I haven’t used it for several years, but I played around with it for about 30 minutes the other night and everything still works fine. There are paint nicks here and there around the edges, but it’s still in very good cosmetic condition.” Link

“Up for sail is one of the first mass marketed guitar synthesizers ever made. This is a cool vintage piece that still works great. There are a couple of scratchy pots from lack of use…but nothing that a little contact cleaner wont fix. Cool concept…no guitar modifications required. Just plug in and go. Nice “Moog” and “Arp” type sounds.
When I plugged in to test it, I almost didn’t want to sell it. ” Link
“KORG X-911 Monophonic Guitar Synthesizer. In Fantastic condition (a few small scratches, nothing major. It was babied), with rare original plastic cover film *see photo. Electric Bass, Tuba,Trumpet,Distortion Guitar,Violin,Flute as well as 5 sine waves. I have been using it with my MS-20, as well as multiple drum machines, as an alternative , to using just for guitar. Sounds really incredible, and is very rare. (especially in this condition)…only selling to fund a family vacation. Comes only with what is shown. Unfortunately, I do not have the manual.” Link
THE KORG X911 is a monophonic analog synthesizer manufactured in Japan in 1981. The 911 is as an analog synthesizer for guitar, meaning that you plug the guitar into the jack input of the 911, we play on the guitar and the korg 911 following notes played on guitar! But nothing prevents you to connect another instrument than a guitar, a microphone, another synthesizer … Where sounds can be identified as notes by the Korg 911. In the final the korg 911 is an analog synthesizer witch can be controlled by any other amplified instruments.
The Korg 911 is divided into two parts:
The INSTRUMENTS part consist of modifiable presets on a single parameter called TONE , but in fact acts as a CUT OFF; Except for VIOLIN preset, where parameter is the ATTACK.
The second part of the Korg 911, called SYNTHE, is composed of three waveforms, you can set Attack and Decay for each. The SYNTHE part also has a VCF filter with adjustable deep.
For all the Korg 911, you can adjust the octave, PORTAMENTO … The KORG 911 also has CV/TRIG inputs and outputs.
The sound of the Korg 911 is similar to the Korg MS10 and M500, so PHATT and WARM sound. In the final the KORG 911 is an analog machine that offers numerous opportunities to who will take the time to tame the beast! The Korg 911 for sale here is in good cosmetic condition with just a few scratches, and the plastic on the right side a little bit burned on one centimeter. And of course this KORG 911 has been fully serviced and works perfectly !” Link
“Up for auction is a Korg X-911 Guitar Synthesizer I found in the studio closet. It hasn’t been used in years but still seems to work fine when using my strat through a Marshall amp. It is clean with little surface wear. I heard a little crackle in the pots when cleaning and testing it but it cleared up after turning a few times – heck, it’s been in storage 20 years! You can make some crazy weird sounds with this thing, and combine synth sounds. This one comes made to be mounted – the sides are 90 degree angle rack ears at about 14″ and on top of that (if you want) attaches a black plate that extends it out to standard 19″ width for flat-mounting in a rack (you can see the black plate mounted to the X-911 in the last photo).” Link

“Korg X-911 Guitar Synthesizer Vintage 1980s
Fully Functional – Classic Synth – Great 1980s Sounds!
High shipping because this baby is housed in metal and weighs a ton
A few minor scratches on the edges, otherwise great condition
Has its own AC cord, NOT a wall wart” Link
“This unit powers up and emits sound when triggered, but is in need of some work to make it fully operational. The insides are fairly similar to that of the ms-20, and there was a site by a guy called eric, who pulled one apart and made a modular synth. The power cord on this unit had been cut when i bought it, so a temporary replacement has been attached.
Basically, this unit could be used as is to output some basic analogue synth tones, or gutted for parts, or repaired and restored. But, for the moment it is sold completely as is, and with no guarantee at all. ” Link
” Hi! Here is a somewhat mysterious and most definitely very rare vintage all analog guitar synthesizer from KORG. There are no markings of the model number just says Korg guitar synthesizer in large yellow font. Very 80-s machine 1/2 synthesizer half effect unit. It has guitar input, CV in HZ/V input, rigger input and FM input, which opens up a lot of possibilities for sound manipulation. The web search brought that it’s called X-911 and a couple of videos of what it’s capable of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNYUdS3KbLY and this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8En0JwjaZU&NR=1. And here is what Korg themselves had to say about it back in 1979! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l2WH7L7fpM
Here is a description of it from sonicstate: his is half an effects box and half keyboard It is triggered by and processes external signals. It has cool distortion plus “Synthe Wah” If the TB-303 is “acid” the X-911 is “crack” It has external FM input, VCF freq. mod input, Cv/Hz in’s/outs, Trig in/outs. It has Attack Decay Attack(ADA) envelope & for the filter just Attack & Decay. this thing is amazing you flip from a twisted filtered input to the sound triggering a “303-ish” type synth. or for some added “CHEEEZ” switch the balance the “preset” side where you can use or combine bass, tuba(why?) trumpet, dist. guitar, violin, flute(oh boy!) this is a totally isolated synth from the “wave” based side.pulse, square, saw. Well to sum up this this is a very unique piece! Very “dirty” sounding. An LFO would be nice as well as a resonance control (+self oscillating) It looks like half of a TR-808.
And here is a trick I figured out to control it from a MIDI sequencer: I send a simple sine wave (or a flute sound) signal from a midi controllable instrument to the guitar input of this synth. It tracks it perfectly, and outputs a real cool all analog sound!
The unit is very clean, amazing condition for it’s age. Some bottons may not turn on the first time you touch them, but they will eventually. Good Luck bidding.” Link
“unique and rare korg guitar synthesizer – no special pickup needed – just plug guitar / synth / vocals whatever in the box – also features killer ms20 filter and some great distortion. reluctantly selling as it needs a little bit of calibration, i don’t have the time. one light on the ‘instrument’ section doesn’t light but this doesn’t seem to affect the sound. therefor, sold as seen. will sell with user manuals.” Link
Will ship worldwide. “Technical in good condition and optical in good condition.” Link

“This is a great little synth. I love using this as a guitar synth and an effects box. The tracking on this Korg is not perfect, but if you play single note lines clearly it tracks well enough to record with. The filters on this synth sound great, and you can run external signals through this box. This means you can use it to fatten up a digital synth, or filter just about anything you can throw at it. Another great thing about this synth is taht you do not need any special pickups to use the x-911. This unit does have one problem, the button for the violin sound does not work. All other sounds are accessible.” Link

“This is a very groovy old school Korg X-911 analog guitar synthesizer system, to be honest it’s not the best guitar synth ever made, it doesn’t track well with guitar at all but it is awesome as a synth module and filter/processor for any instrument or signal you want to plug into it, the synth wah and VCF are really cool. I have used it on many records to beef up or to manipulate tracks including bass, keyboards, drums, horns and many others. I used to control the oscillator with a set of bass pedals I rigged up and gig with it as a foot controlled synth, very versatile. Works great and sounds great.” Link
This is an early 80′s Korg X-911 Guitar synthesizer.
Made in Tokyo, Japan.
It is in great overall condition.
I have not played this since the late 80′s and when I tested it, the instrument side, when the balance control is all the way to the left, does not function properly. I get a constant octave tone for any note played on the guitar. This tone varies as you adjust the interval control. Doing this manually, you get a strange wierd pink floydish sound. A cool effect.
When you slide the balance to the right, the synth controls sound ok.
All the other controls work, except the portamento. I’m not sure what that’s supposed to do.
Also, I never messed with any of the 1/4″ jacks except the guitar in and the output to an amp.
I checked one local guitar repair store and they said they were not familiar with the repair for this unit. This may be the perfect unit for a handy tech.
Also, it comes with the original instruction booklet and plastic overlay. The overlay has bend creases. The instructions are in good condition.” Link
“Increíble y ultra raro Sintetizador de guitarra analógico con el filtro del famoso Korg MS-20. Estéticamente esta perfecto. Suena muy bien y funcionan todos los Knobs pero el preset de la tuba no suena. Siempre ha funcionado pero seguramente por el polvo de no usarlo no hará contacto, me imagino que con una pequeña limpieza bastará pero aviso para que no haya malos entendidos. Tiene un sonido muy organico y para crear atmosferas y efectos de sonido va de lujo” Link
