“I bought this VC-10 used in 1980 and have not used it since the 80′s. I only used it in my home studio – never on the road. So – it is in mint condition.

It comes in it’s original box, and has the original owner’s manual and registration card. It never came with the mic – but you can plug in any Mic with the quarter inch jack on the front panel. This is a 20-band vocoder. ” Link

The unit has some scratches near the original mic input, and a small hairline crack on the left side as shown in the photos. There are signs of wear (minor scuffs and scratches) on all sides, I tried to show the most noticeable ones in my photos. The main output’s volume is somewhat quiet compared to the headphone output. The main volume knob and some of the other pots are a bit scratchy sounding when adjusted but they stay clean when set. There is a low hum and low hiss sound produced by this unit. “xcellent condition. Great working order. All potentiometers operate smoothly and are crackle free. All keys trigger perfectly. VU meter works as it should. These are extremely rare and it has been cherished by us since we bought it. We’ve tried a few of the latest digital vocoders and there is no comparison. The sounds this produces are superb, deep and totally analogue. We’ve been using a standard dynamic mic with it. It’s not just for 70s ‘Mr Blue Sky’ voice effects. Singing single notes and tones into the mic produces the most surreal pads, and lead sounds which constantly change and vary as it’s your voice triggering it. It also has an analog ensemble circuit which makes things even more interesting. It’s unique and impossible to get these sounds from a subtractive analogue synth. It’s very addictive, once you start using this it’s difficult to get anything else done.

Condition wise – Excellent but it’s not a mint museum piece. It has one small scratch on the fascia which has been sympathetically touched up, tiny marks on two of the white keys and scratches on the underside which can’t be seen under normal circumstances but for a 35 year old instrument it’s very nice.” Link

“Ultra rare vintage Korg VC 10 Vocoder from 1978. This is the one! Classic 20 band vocoder that has a flavor all it’s own, this does NOT include the mc-01 microphone. To vocode your voice, you are better off using an sm 58 in my opinion, or just bussing your vocals into the mic input.

This seems to be a very early model and has been recently serviced, everything is in working order. Last year i had this serviced thinking that i would be doing a lot of vocoding, but haven’t used it at all. I’m sad to see this little guy go. This has a built in synth, but i’ve found works best when vocoding using an external synth. This is the perfect addition to your MS20 / MS10 / MS50

Cosmetically this has some typical wear (as featured in the photos) for a 30+ year old synth. The bottom of the synth is a scratched, and the left panel has a few scratches on the plastic. Also, the text for the “ensemble” switch has worn off. The ensemble functions perfectly now, since i had it serviced.” Link

Item does not have its original gooseneck mic. However it does have a quarter inch mic input on the fascia.

The external input doesn’t seem to work but I have never opened the unit or had it serviced!! I’ll leave that to you!! I’ve always been able to use the one input (mic) in the time I’ve owned it.

The item is in very good cosmetic condition and everything else works as it should including the light in the VU meter. Sad to see it go but the need for space is forcing me!!

“This Korg VC-10 I bought about 13 years ago. Its been kept in my studio or storage the entire time I’ve owned it and never gigged out. It is in very clean shape and I checked all the ins and outs and everything is working. External Pitch control I checked with a CV feed off my Modular and its fine, along with all the other inputs and outputs, all are good.
Keyboard is fully functional, no dead keys. Meter Light, Noise Generator, Pots, Ensemble , Octave up and Down, Pitch Control, Vibrato modualation are all working. Overall its a clean unit and been well cared for since I have owned it.
This is a great vocoder without having to spend loads of money. It does not have the original mic, but you can use any mic with it but specific microphone designs work best for this vocoder unit. There is a lot of online info for this.

sieht für sein alter unglaublich gut aus. alles funktioniert. die potis kratzen ein wenig hat mich aber nicht gestört. wenn man den sound erst mal gefunden hat dreht man eh nicht mehr daran rum .das war mir so lieber als kontaktspray zu verwenden. würde ich immer von abraten. der sound ist jedenfalls fantastisch analog. den ms 10 oder eine gitarre in den mic eingang des vc 10 gesteckt, unglaublich was da für ein sound rauskommt. bisschen noise vom vc-10 dazu gedreht. joy division vom feinsten oder die band AIR vom aller liebsten.

Zustand MS-10

abgesehn von den abgebrochenen tasten und der doch gut sichtbaren spuren des benutzens und dem hohen alter entsprechend alles ok. dem pitch muss immer etwas entgegen gewirkt werden. analoger vco der anfangs zu verstimmung neigt. was die tasten angeht hab ich vorgesorgt. habe genau die passenden ersatztasten mal für teuer geld gekauft aber nie dazu gekommen diese einzubauen. ersatztasten sind im übrigen sehr schwer zu bekommen.die funktion des ms hat aber durch den fehltritt ( bei der probe drauf getreten ) keinen schaden genommen. die töne sind immer noch spielbar auch ohne die verlorenen zähne aber wenn möglich würde ich die mitgelieferten key von einem fachmann einbauen lassen. sieht einfach besser aus denke ich.

Im allgemeinen darf man nicht vergessen das es wirkliche Urzeit Saurier sind. Wenn es hier und da mal hackt und knistert ist das normal und mit Liebe zu behandeln. Alles originale Bauteile und locker über 32 jahre alt, aber sie arbeiten und arbeiten und arbeiten. ” Link

I feel it’s far superior to the vocoder features in the newer units.
[I own an MS2000R and the vocoder in it does not hold a candle to this]
This is probably due to it being made EXCLUSIVELY to be a vocoder.

This has both Microphone and carrier signal inputs to allow use as a processor.
It’s a gas to run a drum machine through it to create VERY unique timbres.
The built-in carrier signal features an “ensemble” effect which is somewhat like
a chorus effect – not unlike the chorus effect on some older roland gear.
You can mix the carrier signal with a built-in noise generator for more varied
effect as this enhances any sibilance present on the mic input.

The top panel mic input is for a proprietary Korg mic which I never owned.
I have heard that they were kind of crap anyway and the only advantage is
that they attach directly to the top panel. Any mic with a 1/4 plug can be
input to the front panel mic jack, and this is how I have always used it.
If you are using a more exotic mic, or something that requires phantom power
you will have to figure out how to do so. I always used a simple Beyer dynamic.” Link

Ich trenne mich schweren Herzens von meinem Korg VC 10, da ich ihn einfach zu selten benutze.
Der VC 10 ist mttlerweile sehr selten, besonders in diesem Zustand.

• Optisch in sehr gutem Zustand! Geringe Gebrauchsspuren wie wenige sehr leichte Kratzer auf
der Rückseite und ein Kratzer auf der rechten Seite (s. Foto). Keine Beschädigungen,
fehlende Teile, alles Original, soweit ich weiß!
• Technisch voll funktionstüchtig: Alle Potis, die Tastatur sowie das VU-Meter inklusive
Beleuchtung arbeiten einwandfrei. Nach längerem Nichtgebrauch machte ein Poti kurzzeitig
Knistergeräusche. Nach kurzem Drehen trat das Problem bis heute allerdings nie wieder auf!
• Lieferung mit dem ultra-seltenen Original-Korg-VC-Case, das auch in sehr gutem Zustand
ohne Beschädigungen ist. Auch dabei ist natürlich ein Stromkabel.
• Lieferung ohne das Original-Mikro, das der Vorbesitzer mir vor Jahren leider nicht mitgeliefert hat.
Benutzen lässt sich der VC 10 aber auch mit jedem anderen Mikro, da er vorne einen regelbaren
Mikrofon-Eingang hat (6,3 Klinke). Hier lässt sich auch ein Line-Signal einschleifen, etwa aus
einem Audio-Interface, so dass man z. B. einen Vocal-Track aus der DAW einspeisen kann.

very rare these days, especially in this mint condition.

• Optically in mint condition with only some minor scratches on the back and a scratch on the
right side (s. photo). No dents, nothing broken, no parts missing, all parts Original!
• Tecnically in full working order: All knobs, the keyboard, the VU-meter including the light
and all jacks work fine. Only once, after a longer period of non-use, one of the knobs made
some noise. But after turning the poti this problem never occured again and the knob works
fine until today!
• Included is the very rare Original-Korg-VC-Case, which is in mint condition as well,
without any damage.
• This VC 10 ist for 220-240 Volts and the German power-cord is included.
• The Original Korg microphone is not included. But you can connect any other microphone
to the Mic-In-jack on front of the VC 10. Furthermore you can input line-level signals as well,
e. g. audiotracks from your DAW. The usability of the VC 10 is not touched by the lacking

Ich bin ein großer Fan der Korg MS-Serie und habe über die Jahre immer wieder Geräte gekauft und verkauft. So war ich Besitzer von insgesamt 8 x MS 20, 5 X MS 10, 3 x MS 50, 3x VC 10, 4 x SQ 10. Natürlich habe ich immer die besseren Geräte behalten. (alle Analogsynthies klingen unterschiedlich). Auf diese Weise ist eine Sammlung wirklich hervorragender Stücke entstanden, von denen ich mich nur äußerst ungerne trenne. Auf dem Foto sind die Füße der Geräte abgeschraubt. Ich habe sie inzwischen natürlich wieder anmontiert.

“Works good. This one-of-a-kind Korg VC-10 was owned and is signed on the top by famed Japanese musician Stomu Yamash’ta. Stomu has worked with (among others) Steve Winwood, Al di Meola, Michael Quartermain, Klaus Schulze, Michael Shrieve, Morris Pert and Peter Robinson.

It uses Japanese voltage and requires a converter if used outside of Japan. This is available upon request.

Synth has lived in a smoke-free studio for two years and purchased from another studio that had owned it since the mid 1980′s. VU meter functions as it should and is quite useful for achieving your sound. The only trouble with this synth is the original mic does NOT work. I have not attempted to fix it, but I imagine that it is a simple continuity problem and could probably easily be fixed. I will include this original mic with the vocoder. Since you can use any external microphone, I have found that an old electro-voice mic works rather well. I have also used this vocoder live twice with a Shure SM58 and it sounded great at very loud levels. This synth produces an extremely clear and intelligible result with little effort.” Link
