“Up for auction here is a nice used vintage Yamaha TX802 FM synth rack module. It is basically the rack version of the DX7 mkII (minus the keyboard of coarse) with added multi-timbral capabilities. This unit is in good working condition, and sounds great! It has midi in, out, and thru connectors, eight 1/4″ assignable out jacks for multi-timbral applications, as well as stereo out 1/4″ jacks (I and II), and a stereo 1/4″ headphone jack on the front. This unit has that classic FM synth sound that made Yamaha so famous back in the day. There are some normal signs of age and wear (some scuffs/scratches here and there).” Link

“This is a Yamaha TX802 FM (Frequency Modulation) Digital Synthesizer Tone Generator Rack Mount Module, it is the rack version of the famous Yamaha DX7-mkII. (1987-1989)
This Module DOES NOT WORK, it doesn’t have any sound, it turns on as seen in the picture, and the LCD Screen shows information, it seems you can even navigate through the menus, BUT if you connect a cable to its outputs and play it with a midi keyboard you don’t hear any audio, however when you play a key in the midi keyboard some lights in some of buttons that are below the screen blink showing it is receiving or sending midi, I believe buttons 1 and 8(not sure). I’m not familiar with its operation, I am not a FM Synthesizer expert guy so I don’t know if it is electronic failure that needs to be repair by a qualified technician, or if it is an operating system editing issue, it might even be the internal battery that needs to be replaced (I SIMPLY DON’T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS). That is why I am selling it as PARTS(NOT WORKING) I only had it for a very very short time and I want to get it out of my way. I just don’t have the time and money to have it taken to a technician for repairs, the problem might be simple to fix, or it might not.
It has the normal cosmetic scratches as seen in the pictures specially where the screws go and in some other parts, and the left ear part is a little bit blend as seen in the third picture, also the plastic board that has the algorithm layout looks like it was cut with scissors at some point in its lifetime(see fourth picture), the other plastic board is complete, it has two tapes attached to those boards as shown on the fourth picture. I don’t know what other functional issues might this TX802 have. It does not include the manual.” Link
“This listing is for a Yamaha TX802 rackmount FM module. The unit is 100% functional and in nice cosmetic condition as well. It will come as shown below in the pics so take a peek. ” Link
“This is a used Yamaha TX-802. It is in good working condition, but has some surface scratches.” Link
“Yamaha TX802 rack-mount FM synthesizer, unit is fully functional. One of the most flexible synthesizers I’ve ever used, the TX802 can produce remarkable textures, basses, leads, sci-fi, 80′s, grit, horns, etc.
Display is perfect, all buttons are fresh and LEDs work, as do all 8 individual TRS outputs. These are basically rack-mount versions of the DX7 mkII with eight-part multi-timbral output. The unit has some ‘rack rash’ – a couple of scratches on the top, and a bit of scratching around screw holes on the rack ears. This unit also still has it’s pull-out routing table card in place. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or additional picture requests, etc. Thanks!” Link
“Tested and working great… very light scratches on the face plate and some other small scratches on top… I would call the unit lightly used if asked… ” Link
Link
“Up for auction is my Yamaha TX802 synth module. This is the rack mount version of the legendary DX7II. It’s in perfect working condition and very good cosmetic condition for a unit of it’s age. As you can see in the pictures there are a few scratches and marks on it. All buttons and switches work perfectly. The backlight works great and the display is clear and easy to read.
I bought this last year thinking it would be interesting to learn about FM technology, but I’ve not had the time or energy to really dig into it. I went on a bit of a buying spree last year and got quite a few things I didn’t really need. I’m cleaning out my studio and moving some things I don’t use anymore. Comes with the attached power cord, original manual and performance list. Here’s your chance to get a classic synth module in very good shape. ” Link
“YAMAHA TX 802 RACK MODULE WITH 4 SPACE PADDED RACK CASE INCLUDED!! This unit is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. I have tested it out and it works perfectly. It is in cosmetically great shape. I will include a nice 4 space light weight rack case for free. I have a Yamaha MotifRack Es with DX expansion and just don’t need this module any longer. The case ($50.00 value) is only about 6 months old and will help to protect your purchase during shipping and use.” Link

“The TX802 FM Tone Generator is basically a rack-module version of the DX7mkII with full 8-part multi-timbral operation for sequencing and/or key mapping. It has 16-voices of polyphony and six digital FM Operators, the same as in the DX7mkII. Unlike the DX7 mkII it has 8 separate Audio Outputs in addition to the Stereo Out. This allows for some incredible panning FX. There are 128 preset and 64 user patches for your sounds, as well as an external memory cartridge slot. It has some great custom sounds stored in its RAM.
This unit is in excellent working and cosmetic condition.” Link
” Link

“I’ve had this synth for quite a few years, and it has always been kept, in an enclosed dust-free audio rack since owning it. It has some “rack rash” wear on the top, that isn’t visible when installed. Works as it should, and includes, the sometimes difficult to acquire ADP1 adapter cartridge, which allows for DX7 RAM cartridges to be used. Also, there are literally thousands of patches available on-line for free. Additionally, the sale includes a PDF. bound printed copy of the manual.” Link

“The classic sounds of the DX-7 MK II in a rack – the TX-802 is like having 8 x DX-7′s in a rack with 8 separate outputs, 8-part multitimbral and 16-note polyphonic. This one is in good condition (a few cosmetic marks from normal use, but nothing serious), fully working and complete with both original manuals. Also it still has the built-in pull-out programming guide and the built-in ‘prop stand’ for desktop use. This is the ultimate pure FM synthesizer” Link

“You’re not likely to see another one of these up for auction any time soon! This is a rare, fully functioning synth module that has 8 Yamaha DX-7mk II brains in two rack spaces. The DX-7 was THE synth in the early 80′s and was responsible for most of those clear-as-a-bell, extremely distinctive sounds that characterized early to mid 80s pop music. The DX-7 family of synths makes use of additive synthesis, where 6 oscillators can be combined in various ways to create that distinctive sound. This TX-802 was Yamaha’s most sophisticated FM synth product, having no less than 48 oscilators! This means that you can layer up to 8 classic DX-7 sounds together in performance to create a mega FM synthesis sound.
Cosmetically the face plate and buttons are nice, especially considering the module’s age, with few significant marks or scuffs. It does have a number of cosmetic imperfections on the back and on the top, bottom and sides, none of which will be visible once you put this module in your rack. There are marks on the face plate from rack mount screws. These too will be covered once you install this terrific module in your rack. An expansion card with additional preloaded sounds is also included.
This is the only module that I’ve ever run across with two integral pull-out programming cheat sheets. It’s a cool feature wherein two plastic cards are stored in a slot, which can be pulled out as a quick reference programming guide. They will bind a little in the slots if you don’t pull them straight out, but otherwise, no worries. ” Link
“Up for auction is this gently used Yamaha TX 802 Synth Module. This is the rack mount version of the very popular Yamaha DX-7 Synth. If you are looking at this you probably already know all the specs. This is in very good condition cosmetically and everything works great.” Link
