These items are very rare and you will almost never find another complete set as this one. Very nice collector’s item!

Dieses analoges Musikinstrument gilt als absoluter Kult, da sie in zahlreichen elektronischen Musikproduktionen eingesetzt wird und ist bekannt für ihre punchigen Sound.

- The START/STOP button is a little tired (you have to push it 1s to make it start)…. Easy to change
- 2 orange patterns buttons are missing. But the keys workswell.

- sync switch needs sometimes to be moved a few times
- one screw is missing (see picture) but is not an important one. I bought the machine like this ages ago.

alle Instrumente sind einzeln anschlagsdynamisch ansteuerbar
Dabei wurden keine Löcher ins Gehäuse gebohrt sondern die Sync Buchse modifiziert so das sobald das Midi Kabel eingesteckt wird die 808 sich im Midi Modus ist.
Zieht man das Midi Kabel ab befindet sie sich im Originalzustand und kann dann auch über einen sync-midi Konverter betrieben werden.
Der Midi Kanal kann über Schalter im Inneren eingestellt werden(dafür muss das Gehäuse mit ein paar Schrauben geöffnet werden).
Im Moment ist Kanal 8 eingestellt.Bedienungsanleitung fürs Midi-Kit wird mitgeliefert.

Einen Mangel hat das Gerät,wie man auf dem letzten Foto sieht ist ein kleines Stück Plastik abgebrochen.

Sie verfügt über einen ausgereiften Stepsequenzer mit programmierbarem Accent (Anschlag). Die Klangerzeugung ist analog. Die Bassdrum kann mittels eines Filters (Tone) und in der Länge der Hüllkurve (Decay) verändert werden.

Für die Instrumente stehen 13 Ausgänge zur Verfügung. An zwei als Master Out bezeichneten Ausgängen liegt die über die Level-Regler abmischbare Summe, einmal mit hohem, einmal mit niedrigem Pegel. Vom Master Out lassen sich jeweils die einzelnen Instrumente über ihre Buchsen abgreifen, d. h. ein Stecker in der Buchse nimmt das Instrument aus der Summe. Bassdrum, Snare, Cowbell, Cymba, Closed und Open Hi Hat haben jeweils einen eigenen Ausgang. Low, Mid und High Tom/Conga, Clap und Maracas sowie Rimshot und Claves liegen nur alternativ, d. h. über Schalter auf der Oberseite, an.

Eine Synchronisiation ist über die von Roland genutzte SYNC-Buchse in beide Richtungen möglich. Zum Betrieb in einer Midi-Umgebung ist ein externer Midi-to-Sync-Konverter oder der Einbau einer MIDI-Schnittstelle nötig (Nicht vorhanden).” Link

The machine has new ALPS buttons, so there isn’t any sticky or double triggering problems, they were installed on the original 808 PCB, not a clone. The button caps are also new, so they look spectacular.

Everything works perfectly, no static when turning the knobs. All of the knobs have the original colored caps as well.

The case is in good condition, with a few scratches, etc (see photos). The battery door is a plastic replacement (not original).

The plastic side rails are damaged, each at one corner (see picture) and one or two of the screws are missing. I imagine you could order replacements for them without too much hassle.

The Start/Stop button on the sequencer sticks a bit and one of the sequencer buttons doesn’t go down as well as the rest, but the difference is subtle. You quickly get the hang of it so that you can press it in a certain place and it functions fine. Other than that, it works and sounds great.
