I bought this new back in 1982 to use along side my ‘Tascam Portastudio’. This classic analogue drum machine has been fully tested and works well with both mains and batteries.

The drum machine is in excellent condition with a few scratches and marks mainly on the bottom.
It is still in the original box (which is a little bit tatty) and comes with power supply and original vinyl case.

I can’t for the life of me find the original user guide, however I have downloaded one from the internet together with the service instructions and procedure card ” Link

Serial # 373200. If you’re looking at this then you know what it is. Machine is very clean cosmetically. I used a Roland Boss 9v pedal adaptor to test. The unit runs through the presets fine. I did not try to program it because I don’t know how and don’t have the time to learn. So I do not guarantee full functionality but see no reason otherwise. On/Off Volume is scratchy when first turned on. All other dials are quiet. The adaptor I used does not come with the machine, but it does have the original case. The case is in good condition with some signs of wear. There is a small 1″ tear on the top and the strap feels sticky which I tried to wipe off.

A rare machine with the retro drum sounds all studios need in their arsenals.

May I start by apologising for the photographs They really dont do it justice i will take some better ones in the daylight tomorrow

these are versatile little machines they have got two useful trigger outs it can slave or master sync24 , they are great for modding , the mods are really easy and really enhance the machine , if you do mod it don’t bother with the bass drum mod it’s difficult and it sounds really hollow not like an 808 at all and it’s difficult to reverse ,I speak from experience as I have another fully modded 606 otherwise the is no way I’d sell this it’s great !!!!

It works flawlessly , the front panel is in near perfect condition probably the best ive seen , really really nice , perfect ledgending and no paint wear round the knobs there are 2 small plastic chips at two side corners this is very common on tb303 and tr606

The rear panel has some paint wear around the battery door which i thought might be caused by a battery leak

I opened the unit when I got it and confirmed that there is no corrosion or crystals inside the machine the paper insert is in good condition and if there had have been battery leak it would have dissolved See photos nice and clean inside

There are two potentiometer caps missing unfortunately , these come up on eBay occasionally and I have heard that a Japanese company have reproduced them , of course you can just use any knob that fits a standard shaft I have supplied two knobs , they look ok I’d say if you sprayed them silver they blend in better they do the job anyway ” Link

This is a great analog drum machine, and if you’re looking at this you probably already know that.

I have had it modified by Analog Solutions to include MIDI and separate audio outs for each of the drum sounds. These mods are perfect, and the original sound is in no way compromised. You can still use the built in sequencer by de-selecting MIDI control with the switch.

I am aware of no problems with this 606, and have been using it daily for a couple of years now. It comes with its original carry case (in perfect condition), original packing box (in battered condition, but it still works), and an A/C adapater to power it.” Link

This auction is for a vintage Roland TR-606 Drumatix DRUM MACHINE in good condition. The Roland TR-606 was the percussion side-kick to the TB-303. It even looks like the TB-303. It stores up to 32 patterns and 8 songs. The Roland TR-606 allows switching between Pattern Play and Write mode while running – making the TR-606 the only drumcomputer in the X0X series that can be edited while performing and switching patterns. It is also possible to link up to 4 consecutive patterns in Pattern Play mode. There is only a mono audio output, however there are mods from Kenton Electronics and Analog Solutions that will add individual outputs for each drum tone. The TR-606 has seven analog drum sounds which are simple, yet great! Kick, Snare, 2 toms, open hat, closed hat, cymbal, accent. The hi-hats are a very tinny electronic sound and its toms are great for soft tribal patterns. These seven sounds alone are still quite popular today, and the 606 has been used by Überzone, Cirrus, Sneaker Pimps, Download, Aphex Twin, Astral Projection, Nine Inch Nails, Mr. Oizo, Jimi Tenor, Kid 606, OMD, Moby, Freddy Fresh, Autechre, Luke Vibert, and Union Jack. included in this auction is the TR-606 and a copy of the manual. The winning bidder will receive exactly what is pictured.” Link

Cosmetically, it is pretty dinged up with some chips around the side of the case and some scratches. It’s like a 6/10. But it holds together and it has the battery cover and the original Roland Power Supply. My cat stole the original volume and tempo knobs off my workbench, but if I find her hidden toy cache, I’ll include them. All switches and buttons are functioning properly, except for the pattern group mode button, which doesn’t seem to change between the two groups (but I could be wrong about the functionality of the 606).

This particular unit has the following added/modified features:

5 Individual Outputs for drum sounds
Bass Drum and Snare Modification Pots – Bass Drum Pitch & Decay, Snare drum Pitch, Decay, and Snappy
Brand new pots for drum volumes and master volume from Technology Transplant
Arduino-based Midi Input – Slighty Buggy, see video for details
Mutli-colored LEDs” Link

It is in full working order, all the controls work smoothly and the push button switches have a lovely clean action. The rear battery cover is present and the battery compartment is clean and shows no sign of corrosion from old batteries.

This was a ground breaking piece of music technology brought out by Roland in the early 1980′s and together with the TB-303 gave every aspiring guitarist a full rhythm and drum section, and is now one of the most sought after and collected pieces of the era

It’s easy to set up and record your drum line, with snare, kick, low tom, high tom, cymbal open and closed hat and an accent. The unit has non volatile memory so you can switch it off without loosing your work and it can be battery powered .” Link

I bought it about a year ago and have used it on many tracks. Like with most units of this age there are some things which are not perfect :

- The battery cover is broken and does’t snap into the slot.
- The battery contact components have been removed at some point in it’s life so it won’t run on batteries – not a problem as the mains power works perfectly.
- Long term memory isn’t great. It forgets patterns if the unit is switched off for more than a couple of weeks.” Link

Comes with Bag, battery cover, all the knobs are intact and were working before this fault has occured.

It lights up but it won’t run, it seems just to hang

It has had a battery leak in the distant past but that was caught before it did any real damge to the circuit boards and it was working perfectly for years before this new and rather puzzling fault has happened.

Sold as Spares and Repairs and without warranty, what you see is what you’ll get, but please be aware that it may be something simple but I have no clue as to what’s wrong and as I’ve not been using it for a while until I come to sell it, it’s a real unknown issue.” Link

Serial # 315100 The TR-606 was introduced in 1982 and has become popularized in the electronic music scene. This machine has a primitive feel and creates analog percussion sounds that cannot be matched by modern digital machinery. The Drumatix stores 32 patterns and 8 songs through manipulation of 7 drum sounds: kick, snare, 2 toms, open hat, closed hat, cymbal and accent. A unique feature of this particular model is that you can edit while performing. It has a 1/4″ jack output allowing you to use effect pedals along with the built in features. This machine works seamlessly with the Roland TB-303 Bass Line synthesizer (see other auctions). Included in this auction is the unit itself and the original soft case. I do not have the AC adapter, but it only requires a 12V AC adapter, easily found at your local radioshack or electronics store. The item remains in excellent condition with little to no wear. ” Link

Unit has scuffs, minor dings and some surface scratches (including on one side pictured above that has a line/streak of discoloration on the body’s surface)
– but all these are just cosmetic flaws and they do not affect the unit’s performance.
Overall, this unit is very clean and in very good cosmetic condition.

The original 9V AC adaptor is not included but I am including a compatible Panasonic 9V AC adaptor.

There is no manual.” Link

This unit is in great condition. All knobs, buttons, and jacks work fine. Cosmetically. the 606 is in good shape except for residue from tape strips on the bottom of the unit. There is no acid damage from battery leakage. I have used this TR-606 in my smoke-free studio for the last eight years with no issues, whatsoever. It has been (and will continue to be) a solid workhorse that delivers the analog punch. I am only selling this unit to finance my modular ambitions. This auction comes with the TR-606, Doepfer MSY2 MIDI/DIN sync converter, power adapters for both units, and the original TR-606 manual. (This TR-606 requires the power adapter for operation but also needs ‘C’ size batteries to retain patterns. Batteries are not included.) ” Link

This is a very uniqe and fun drum machine. Cosmetically, it is showing signs of its age, but internally it is squeaky clean. Even tone is clear and the knobs are not scratchy. I repeat, this is machine is fully functional! I have used this little guy for years in my climate controlled, smoke-free studio. I cannot tell you how much fun i have had making awesome beats on the fly, using this live and adding to the mix some authentic analog beats. I am really hard pressed to part with it as it will undoubtedly remain in demand for some time and it is truly a piece of Roland history. I just don’t feel that i use it enough these days and i am hurting for the cash. Please give it a good new home!

Included in this sale is the original Roland carrying case and the original power supply. The case came to me quite dirty, but i have cleaned it up as much as possible since. The manual is not included but can be found quite easily on the web.” Link
