MELODIA “Here’s a really nice R. A. MOOG MELODIA Theremin that’s in very good used condition, and is housed in a solid wood hinged enclosure. Included is an RCA Type Cable for interface with an Audio Amplifier. A video on You Tube shows one of these models in use. We have made a battery pack to run it on. The pitch control antenna from the right side is missing, but my dad hooked it up to the ball thing pictured and it worked. Ball is not included unless you really want it. Just hooked it up and it does work. The wood on either side by the hinges is cracked as you can see in the pictures. Can be glued but didn’t want to do anything to it. Thanks for looking!” Link

“Wavefront Classic Theremin in Beautiful Walnut Case

One of the few concert quality Theremins still made in the world today. None of them, as beautiful as this walnut encased classic machine, built to recreate the iconic RCA Theremin sounds of the 1930′s. This is as close to that famous timbre as you can get, without the hassle of using rare, unreliable tubes and high voltages. When this innovative instrument (the only instrument in the world you play by NOT touching it) first appeared to the public, people fainted in churches where they were performed, believing they were hearing the voices of angels.

Many early science fiction films featured RCA Theremins for their eerie soundtracks and experimental compositions. And if you’re a fan of Clara Rockmore, you know this instrument can also perform an amazing repertoire of music in the right hands– literally. Add guitar / FX pedals to modulate the output for special effects, or attach a MIDI device for controlling other MIDI instruments and synths (MIDI Theremin controller available on Wavefront’s Site). The possibilities are endless. This model is so gorgeous and well crafted, it deserves a place on stage to showcase your theremin skills to the world.

“This Moog Melodia is in as close to mint condition as you could hope for, I even have the original box post marked 1961!
All original parts including the hard to find original antenna (usually this part would get lost through the years) This theremin works perfectly and sounds amazing as you would expect from a vintage Bob Moog design. This was the first of his discrete transistor kits. In my opinion this one has better quality wood for the cabinet as compared to a few others I have owned in the past.

The Melodia is a Moog Theremin that was originally made available in 1960-61 in both kit form and assembled. It could be assembled with a few hand tools and featured a walnut cabinet .The Moog Melodia theremin has a five-octave range, extending from two octaves below to three octaves above Middle C. This one is in almost new condition and fully operational.” Link

“Very Rare Big Briar Etherwave Series 91 Theremin, designed by Bob Moog

Before Bob Moog could regain the right to sell instruments under his own name, he manufactured using the name Big Briar. The Series 91 Theremin was designed by Bob Moog and sold by Big Briar between 1991 and 1997.
The cabinet of the model 91A is in the style of the original Leon Theremin RCA Theremin, which was sold between 1930-1938.

I’m not a Theremin virtuoso, but I powered up the instrument and it seems to be functioning well, in that moving your hands varies the pitch from low to high, and the volume from soft to loud. The matching stand is included. There are some scuffs (as depicted in the photos) but other than that it is in great condition.
The original instruction manual is included.” Link

“I’m selling an original 1929 RCA theremin, I bought it several years

ago from a radio collector.

It was missing its doors and antennae when it came to me, the and

exterior was in poor shape, there was a large gash across its front ,and

the beading was damaged.

The doors have now been replaced(one of the doors is an original from

another RCA theremin), replacement antennae have been faithfully copied

by a remarkable craftsman and theremin enthusiast, (they need to be

nickel plated), and the cabinet has been refinished on its exterior. The

interior has been left as found, in good shape. The legs are original

and intact as found. The beading has been replaced.

In the photos can be seen the replacement antennae compared to

original ones, the theremin for sale compared to one with an original

finish( the original is darker than others I’ve seen),the number “502″

stamped on the bottom of the door. The left cabinet door is slightly

warped out at the bottom. The speaker power receptacle needs a

replacement cover, its base is intact. There is clear plastic wrapped

around the pitch and volume coils to protect the wire.

Something remarkable about this theremin is when I first assembled it

and slowly warmed it up , it was functioning absolutely fine , I

didn”t even have to fiddle with the tuning capacitors. As it is now,

I haven’t warmed it up in years, and it will be sold as is,with all

the original electronics intact. The next owner will have to use

their care skill and patience to maintain this rare ,80+ year old

electronic music artifact. If you are unaware of the instrument or

its history there are tons of sources availabe on the internet, the

movie “Theremin, An Electronic Odyssey” and A. Glinskys book

“Theremin, Ether Music and Espionage”are excellent resources.Other

leads for info are looking under the subjects; Clara Rockmore, Lucie

Bigelow Rosen, Lev Termen, Robert Moog, Samuel Hoffman.

If the buyer is able to pick up the theremin, I will throw in

(gently) an RCA 106 speaker,” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“You are bidding on a Vintage Melodia theremin. This was sold in kit form in the 1960′s by the R. W. Moog Company. I purchased this one at a yard sale many years ago. Externally it is in quite good condition, however, as can be seen from the photos, the chassis has a fair amount of rust. The rust doesn’t seem to affect it’s operation, as I recently tested it, and it seems to work fine, with both the pitch and volume antennas appearing to work as they should. It comes with the original manual, which includes the circuit diagram and detailed building instructions.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

ractheremin Simply amazing. Lots of pictures following the link.

“RCA Theremin

Yes, a 1929 RCA THEREMIN with RCA Speaker!

The Real Thing . . not a copy or reissue.

The Genuine Article.

One of 485 ever built, and experts estimate perhaps half of them still exist. To describe it as “RARE” is stating the obvious!

Works well and sounds very nice. Beautiful traditional Theremin Tone

Condition: Amazing for being 80 years old. The electronics appear to be all original with no obvious mods or repairs. The wood cabinet of the Theremin appears to be the original finish and displays well for its age, although one back door has some warping. The speaker has an obvious grill cloth issue, but cone seems okay. AC cord is brittle. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“PRISTINE moog etherwave pro theremin. barely used but beautiful instrument. mine is number 434 of (i think) a limited edition of 800. never gigged with it because i didn’t want to damage it and i have other theremins for gigging. in great “like new” condition. the only times i’ve played it is when someone asks me what the heck that thing in the corner of the room is. included with item is foam padded soft case for the etherwave pro and will be shipped in box it came in. so it’s part of a limited edition of 80 theremins not 800. “Special and Final Edition. Last 80 instruments to have walnut grain finished” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“This is perhaps the most desirable and rarest example of a Theremin (besides the original RCA units) – the Moog Ethervox. It’s also the only Theremin to ever directly incorporate MIDI out – drive external synthesizers with the wave of a hand. If you’re looking at this auction, you probably know all about this marvel – there are less than 50 in existence, and they originally sold for almost $5000 new. These units rarely come up for auction, and they are owned by the world’s leading Thereminists. The sound is sweet – and highly tweakable. There’s really nothing like the Ethervox, it’s the ultimate expression of this class of instrument, the pinnacle of Bog Moog’s incomparable analog and digital engineering skills.” Auction ended.
