“This is the legendary acid bass creator. A small but very distinct sounding analogue synthesizer used by numerous techno/trance/house/electronic music producers for the last 28 years. I have two of them in my production studio with the purpose of to creating more intricate patterns. However, with the modern sequencer editing possibilities, there is no longer need for two, hence one is for sale.

I purchased this particular exemplar on Ebay a few years ago and it had been used for the studio production only. Unfortunately, no bag or manual came with it. Power supply was sent form the USA and has a US style 2 pin connector. It will require an adapter for the UK/Europe. I found that using this machine with a power supply produces a slight buzz (alternate voltage current), which never occurs when powered by batteries (DC). I only ever used batteries for that reason. It takes 4 of 1.5 Volt Type C batteries, which last for a very long time. The battery light goes dark, when they are ready to be changed. No MIDI capabilities have been fitted. This is a virgin original model. It can be synced to a MIDI clock by the means of a little DIN SYNC converter box, which I purchased on e-bay for about £10 and a couple of normal MIDI cables (you don’t need any special DIN cables). Programming requires a bit of fiddling, but if you are passionate enough about this toy, you won’t mind spending an hour reading the manual, which by the way can be downloaded as a PDF, or I can email it to you after purchase. Please keep in mind that after batteries are taken out for a long period of time (shipping) the synth will not recall all the patterns, so don’t be surprised when it turns up and makes only a couple of bleeps. You gonna have to write your own patterns in. After all isn’t it what you want it for anyway?

Condition:

The item has been taken very good care of: handled gently, always stored away from dust/heat/sun and without the batteries! It is in full working order. All buttons/knobs/selectors are operational and no signs of wear around them (See photo). There is some cosmetic damage to the body on both corners. Please see pictures. However it makes no effect on the sound of the unit. ” Link

The TB 303 is an iconic automatic Bass machine which memorises the Bass line of a musical piece and replays it automatically.

The Bass Line is in full working order and in good overall condition. The casing is a bit scratched here and there on the bottom. The sides are slightly stained at the corners and seam and there is a very small chip at one corner. Otherwise all knobs and LEDs are in perfect working order.

This 303 is in tiptop condition, ive owned a couple of 303s and this one is by far the best.
All the pots and knobs are really tight just like new and there is no sign of wear around the pots ( good indication of low mileage)

i really cant specify enough how tight and new it feels and sounds.
Cosmetically its pritty good to i would say very good + there are no scratches on the front and just minor surface marks on the underside and a slight very faint felt tip mark… and a couple of very light blemishes…. but to be honest it is in very very good condition for a tb 303.

About the unit;

condition is fair. the sides show wear typical of 303s. there is a small chip in the plastic that is detailed in the pics. obviously doesnt affect the sound. the bottom has rubber skids (there when i bought it before i had it modded) that are ugly but keep it on a slanted desk nicely. top is cosmetically an A+.

Of course everything works wonderfully. Internal cpu intact so you can use the sequencer or sequence via midi. I am selling this because I dont fully use it for the style of house music I create. This thing need needs to be owned by someone who is really going to play it.

Well, what can i say about this? If you’re looking at it, you must know exactly what it is!

This one has some wear and tear marks, since before i bought it on ebay a few years ago. It has been fitted with a MIDI retro fit, which is the switch on the right hand side you can see. Flip this down and it is able to be used within your sequencer! This has been so handy i cannnot tell you! Flip it back up again and it switches back to its own sequencer. However, whoever did this retro fit, has been a little careless and melted a very small section of the 303. But of course this does not harm the sound at all.

It works great, i cleaned all the buttons, switches and pots with a special product (de-ox-IT) recently. So its working like a dream. All nobs are smooth and none of the keys are sticky like on some.

I bought this from a guy from Germany a few years ago, so it has a European 2 pin plug. Which is the original Roland one!” Link

Cosmetically the front is near perfect. The slides have a few scruffs and the corners are a little chipped. The battery compartment is clean.

A few things to note:
- It can’t play any internally made sequences. After many long hours, the original tech who did the mods concluded that most likely the CPU is failing. To combat this, he professionally installed midi ($400 upgrade) so you can now sequence it externally. It will also output CV with the midi, so essentially it retains all useful functionality, the only difference is the internally sequencing option is gone unless you are able to replace the CPU.
To be clear: Everything is fully functional (it will even remember patterns you sequence) except that you can’t run any sequences (once you press Run/Stop, it does not run through the pattern.)
- Installing the Midi required removal of the Mix In function, which was a mostly useless option the 303 had for early DJ’s who didn’t have a mixer and needed to route in another audio source through the 303′s output. The mix in went straight to the Output and didn’t even go through the filter or anything.” Link

I must advice that this is and antique musical instrument. (ich erwähne das, weil ich als sammler in den letzten jahren schon viele 303 verkäufer kontaktiert habe und so gut wie JEDER verkäufer der frage frage nach battery-leaks ausweicht – teilweise kann man bis zu 3mal nachfragen und bekommt immer noch so schwammige aussagen wie “das teil geht” oder “ich habe nie nachgesehen und habe auch keinen zeit das zu tun” – ich finde sowas sehr ärgerlich und unseriös – besonders da es ja bekannt ist daß sehr viele geräte darunter leiden…

The MIDI retrofit gives total control over your bass lines and with it you can completely bypass the tedious built-in sequencer. Now, a lot of people will tell you that the only way to get the true TB-303 sound is by using the sequencer, which I personally think is quite true. You can get around this by using the MIDI OUT of the retrofit. You can output the genuine 303 sequences into your DAW and this way you will still have the great 303 rhythm/tightness. “. Be careful of other TB-303′s out there with faulty double-triggering buttons, and shot stiff knobs and pots or spilled battery acid inside. Not this unit! The buttons were replaced a year ago, and the knobs and pots are fine. There is no spilled battery acid in this unit. The unit battery compartment is clean. There is a tiny nick in the case on the side which doesn’t affect the sonic performance of this gem. There is normal cosmetic wear but overall, more importantly, the unit works like a champ. As we said…. a person can get a $2000 unit and it may not even save your presets or there could be internal issues with Accent not working or nothing happening when switching waveforms. This unit has only had 2 owners. The unit does not smell of cigarette smoke or has not been in 5 pawn shops in it’s lifetime, or in the back of someone’s truck in the garage for a couple years. PLEASE READ:
There are a couple of issues with this machine so please read this part carefully. First the internal sequencer is not properly functioning so patterns will have to be MIDI/externally sequenced. Second this machine runs on a power adapter only (no batteries) Third the MIX IN jack has been removed to make room for the MIDI sockets, the MIX in originally mixed and inputted audio with the main output (useful when multi channel mixers were not as common). As with most tb-303/tr-606′s there are some flaws in the paint, this one is not as bad as most. The majority of te faded paint is on the back and bottom (see pics)” Link

CONDITION:

When i purchased it it was second hand with ware marks around the edges (pictures) and one screw is missing. A couple of the buttons are a bit loose, however over all its in great condtion and works well. These two classics need no real introduction, if your looking at this then you know what its all about!

Roland TB 303 in good working condition except a few cosmetic scratches (check photos), slight crackling on volume knob when moved and also unfortunatly there has been a battery leak so does not work on batteries anymore but works fine with the supplied PSU. All other knobs and buttons work fine (no sticking or crackling) has been modified with a CV, Gate and Filter outputs. Comes with original vinyl case, no original owners manual but will supply a downloaded one on a cd.

Roland TR 606 excellant working condition all knobs and buttons work fine, works on batteries and on psu but not supplied. Comes with owners manual. Theres a few minor cosmetic scratches.

I will also supply a Touchprone Sync24 to Midi convertor clock so you can hook both of them up to an external midi drum machine/synth (also has an output for a SH 101) and 2 x kenton sync24/dinsync leads and a 1x midi lead.

I have never attempted to clean the TB-303 case so what you see in pics is its true condition–main cosmetic flaw is a small chip on one corner which is quite common on these (-see last pic) and initials of last owner on rear -which is hard to notice see pic 8
All buttons and lights work well No signs of usual paint wear around the knobs–has been stored with batteries removed and not one trace of any battery leakage, the freq and resonance pots could do with a replacement as they have been used a lot and feel tight but work fine as is.
Most importantly the Din Sync In works fine and no noisy pots or jacks –this TB-303 sounds great ” Link

“Up for your consideration is a used Non-Working Roland TB 303 Bassline Synthesizer with Midi Mod that needs to be fixed.

Testing Notes:
The TB 303 powers on but the internal sequencer has stopped working. You program a pattern into the TB 303, but it plays a different pattern. The unit also seems to have some distortion to the the sound. There is also scratchiness to the sound when turning the knobs. I am not sure if the Midi Mod works as I never used it and have no way of testing it.

Cosmetic Condition:
The unit is in fair condition. There are some scratches and nicks on the unit. There is also some battery acid stains on the back, sides, and bottom of the unit as can be seen in the pictures.

I am not familiar with how to fix what is wrong with this TB 303, and this is the reason why I am selling it.

I am selling this TB 303 as Non-Working and AS-IS. Because of the condition of this item I am not accepting returns. I have more than clearly outlined the condition” Link
